  1. It makes sense to make your goal at below 25 BMI but you have to listen to your body and how it feels. Frankly how it looks too. Everyone is different and as we know current research shows that it's not just being skinny that makes you healthy. You can be above 25 BMI and be healthier then someone at 20 BMI. This is a journey and as such it will require evaluation along the road. I also think you will reach a natural set point where your body will want to stay and as I have seen it can be above or below your goal. Nothing is chiseled in stone. Have a plan but work your plan.

    8 months out

Premier protein shakes (Costco and elsewhere) taste better then muscle milk in my opinion. My surgery is Oct 28th and I have been trying them all.

AuriP You did it. I must be amazing to eat less then a 1/2 cup of food and be done. I can't even begin to imagine what's like.

My NUT said to measure your food in a 1/2 cup and don't go over it no matter what for at least a month. You do not want to bust your pouch. Sadly, it does happen. I'm sure at this point you probably can't even eat 1/2 cup but think of it as the ceiling.

@@amylynns Please don't allow it to stress you. Think in terms of - it is out of your control. Besides that has to be so rare. In fact, I have never heard of anyone (in all the posts with bariatric pal) who couldn't do a lapband to bypass revision. It is the most common revision. If it makes you feel better start a new topic with lapband to bypass revision. Perhaps you'll get some posts that will help.

    Neurologic issues?

Morgens, I had a nice chat about your gf with my bariatric surgeon. He recommends you seek treatment with a Neurologist. If you were looking in terms of the US look into any major University Hospitals such as Columbia University, Johns Hopkins, etc. The director of the Department of Neurology would be a good place to start. The condition is not necessarily related to weight loss surgery. She may have something entirely different and unrelated. Besides a gastric surgeon wouldn't be an expert on the brain. Makes sense? Wernicke's would require a prolonged thiamin deficiency. Again extremely rare, seen in individuals with liver failure or extreme starvation. Because of the rarity of her condition, it will take some effort coming up with the correct diagnosis. It may require thinking about it in a new way, with a fresh approach. Best wishes.

Had my pre-surgery appointment with the surgeon to sign consent forms and ask 55 minutes worth of questions. His ears must have been ringing. Poor Dr. Fitzer. All is clear and now I sit and eat bonbons until Oct 28th. I wish, I am doing a low carb, low sugar, no caffeine until the 3 day liquid diet. But I feel like a circus acrobat after jumping through all the hoops - Done, tonight I celebrate

@@smiley922 I see. It makes sense since they placed you on oxygen. I happens to a lot of people because of the intubation and fluid build up sometimes your lungs can't get up to capacity or are not as effective with breathing. I had oxygen once and actually loved it. I felt so much better.

@smilley922 I can't believe they are not making you use the Cpap. They are required to. I was told if I did not bring mine they would not be able to operate. I am so MAD, I want to go over and slap them (I don't believe in violence but I wish I did in a moment like this.)

@@amylynns, what a terrible decision to have to make this late in the game. I wish I could help but this is a hard one. Go with the best available information and don't try to beat yourself to death with "what if." You can't predict the future. Good Luck. I would focus on that 4:45 AM hospital arrival. You'll get to sleep after surgery.

I burp like all the time. I only did that when I was pregnant which was kind of related to nausea. And I have bloating and kind of painful lower abdomen. Like I ate something that didn't agree with me. But it doesn't go away.

@@tacycakes I laughed so hard at your CPAP comment. I have the same exact experience. I have trouble getting all my 64 oz of Water in everyday and at the end of the day I try to drink what is leftover (too much, too late in the day). But I wake up twice before midnight and sometimes again at like 3 or 4 AM to go to bathroom. Sometimes I lay there wondering if I can get away without going but can't fall asleep wanting to go. With the CPAP lovely routine, aka annoying CPAP, I have accidentally managed to drop the machine twice in the past week alone. It was more like a fling across the room as I pulled the tube in some funky way. Don't ask me how I did it. I wasn't thinking straight at 3 AM. I'll spare you the details but it resulted on a scream, a few choice words, turning on the light and my husband going "what the heck is going on?". Yeh, I plan on burning the CPAP.
