Hi, my surgery is Tuesday Oct 28th, as much as I would love to go to day and skip the next 5 days of worrying, I have to wait patiently my turn.

so my stomach still hates protein
Beni replied to 10/6/14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have intolerance to protein shakes - whey protein isolate. My NUT think it's because the protein is in such pure form it is so readily absorbed it actually irritates the lining of my intestines. I am going to but soy protein and going to check out some other health food stores. There are other protein sources such as an all vegetable alternative I saw at wlagreens yesterday and some from fermented brown rice. Lets keep searching. I am also considering taking my protein in very small doses throughout the day. A tablespoon at a time. Perhaps my body can tolerate it in small amounts mixed with other food/drinks. Worth trying. -
Has anyone actually gained the week after surgery?
Beni replied to Ddottess's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It's probably water weight from the IV fluids in the hospital. -
Third endoscopy today / stricture
Beni replied to pik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi @@pik Hope you are feeling better. Did the endoscopy work? How much did it close this time? I guess what I am asking is are you making any headway. I remember last time it was only a little progress between endoscopy#1 and #2 -
Help how to slow down
Beni replied to jackie's journey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The best suggestion someone gave me was to read while eating. Eat a bite - read a page. Repeat. I have to find something to occupy my mind while I eat or I will try to race to the next thing I have to do. I think that's the main reason I eat fast. -
@@Glyndalin You have lost a lot of weight. How long have you been dieting?
-
@@Mariew24 Sending a warm blanket your way! Glad to hear you are doing well.

I think you are supposed to have a whole shake as a meal replacement. A Premier Shake (pre-made container) is 25gr protein. In any case after surgery your requirement is 60 gr per day. I imagine it would be the same pre-surgery but you may be getting protein from other sources as well.

@@Alumace, how are you? Is your surgery still Oct 25th?

@@AuriP 6 days and I am a nervous reck. Besides finding out I am intolerant to whey Protein and the associated tummy/bathroom issues that went with that. I feel an imaginary cold coming at anytime. I also have imaginary heart issues. Should I call them worry palpitations. I have cleaned my bathrooms to a sparkle they have never had. Yeh, well is not the way I describe my current condition. So glad my husband is on a business trip or he would think I lost it. I think there's a bit of nesting going on here.

Oh no, I just read in OCTOBER 2014 Topic layknee is at the ER with dehydration and a possible stricture. Keep her in your thoughts, okay.

@@smiley922 and @@AuriP or anyone please What are your favorite flavors of Powerade zero? I am making an epic shopping trip tomorrow. I feel like I live in Alaska and I am making my yearly pilgrimage to Anchorage from chicken (a real place named Chicken, wow). Last time there were so many colors of "Gatorade" and so on, I was overwhelmed and in a hurry, I gave up.
-
Oh no layknee, so sorry my friend. Drinking is so hard with a tiny pouch.

@ammylynns I am glad you are doing okay. Going home will be awesome. But I do understand the fluids thing. In the Hospital you have an IV at home it will be sip sip, all day long. It's hard, I have been told and some do have to go back to hospital for dehydration. It's rare but it's enough to scare me. I am not a Water drinker, I am more of a camel type. I store it for the month, lol.

@ jyoyonomore Thank you for that wonderful list. I am making a list for my last shopping trip before surgery and prune juice is on it. When did you start taking it? I guess I should ask when did you notice the plumbing was clogging up? It's a huge fear of mine because I actually have gone to the ER for constipation after a back injury (herniated a disk) and after several days of pain meds Oxycodone. I was in serious trouble. Apparently it stops your GI track completely but they didn't tell me. So, la. la.. me, I was feeling fine on meds until no movement for 12 days!

Thanks everyone. My tummy hurts but I am glad I figured out why. The Protein shake i am taking for pre-surgery diet is Premier and it is lactose free. However, it is a no go. I would wake up every morning feeling a little better but two hours past my shake at noon and it was horrible. Honestly I thought I had a stomach bug and was beginning to think I would have to reschedule surgery.

My doctor prescribed Protonix. This is a prescription similar to Prilosec. It works wonders. I have been taking it for a week and I am to take it for a while after surgery (Oct 28th) as well. 30 days plus 2 refills. Ask your doctor for a prescription or get the Prilosec over the counter

Please tell me if your nose gets smaller after weight loss surgery?
Beni replied to bellabill's topic in Rants & Raves
So excited at the possibility of not having to try every 9W shoe in creation to find one that fits. I will probably be a 8 1/2 since I get an extra size for the width. Chubby feet, bye, bye! I have the same " ( - ) " around my mouth. Can't wait to see them gone. Your nose is not big @bellabill. It looks absolutely proportional but I suspect a little layer of fat will go but bone and cartilage will stay. -
@@smiley922 I hope that was a juicy dream at least, with desert, of course. I have been reading a lot about this sweating in relation to eating past WLS. Wondering what it may be. Any thoughts? Could it be the temporary lactose intolerance my NUT talked about or our intestines are absorbing the food so quickly because - heck food let's work on the double absorbing since we are starving, or what? But then yours was in the morning. Wondering if some more advanced "bypassers" know.

Sorry Smiley the previous post was for @@walkin'onsunshine. Hematomas (not sure of spelling) are common no big deal. They can be uncomfortable but they heal just fine.

@@smiley922, a pound a day, wow, best diet I have ever heard. "I need to get me some."

Tomorrow Oct 21 is @@Sherrib4health Good luck gladiator Ps. There may be some others but my list is getting a little sketchy at this point and when folks don't update their surgery dates, it makes it hard to double check. My apologies in advance if I forget anyone.
