Managed to go through an entire day with only liquids. I have a headache and can't sleep. Hope I can last 2 more days and all the way to 2:30 PM surgery on the third day. There are 3 bananas on top of the fruit bowl. Every time I walk by they call my name. I have tried to get the kids to eat them but no one will. Today they have to go. I can't even go in the kitchen. I cannot loose the battle to a banana. Non-conventional weapons for the fight: 1. After a major dig through Halloween costumes found a gladiator sword. It sits in "my new room" as a reminder 2. Purchased 50 shades of Grey. Usually not my kind of book. Anything to distract me, right? 3. Pedicure? Yes, I had one. I will probably have to remove the polish for Tuesday but for 1 hour I was food free 4. Tomorrow. I may have to cut the entire front lawn with scissors

Yep, I'm up

Word of the wise: Try them a few times before surgery I found out that I an intolerant of Whey protein. I thought I had a stomach virus but oh no, the pain returned every time I had some.

Anyone else fighting plantar fasciitis?
Beni replied to Larly109's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Actually I had it two years ago and I cured it myself. It took some doing but it worked for me. I purchased new shoes with good arch support. Home - open toes Clarks Out - Easy Spirit slides and sports shoes with inserts. I NEVER placed my foot on bare floor. If I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom my Clarks had to be on my foot first and foremost before I even tried to get up. The spur that causes the pain has to heal, the only way it will is if the tendon doesn't pull on it. THis means you can't stretch it out by placing your weight allowing the arch of your foot to collapse. Not even once. It took about 6 months but I have been pain free for 1 1/2 years. -
Thank you for sharing. I have a thought, what about extending yourself into an area you always wanted to do or know more about. Or give back or even something as simple as maximizing the quality of your food for the most health benefits. What ever you decide, please share your findings a year out.

Just wondering what were you taking as vitamins/supplements since surgery?
-
I know. Just being silly, thank you. How are you feeling today?

If you would like to place a face with my name, I posted a "Before" picture on my profile. It's only a face shot and I think you get to it my clicking on my "Wild Flower" circle icon on the left of every post.

A photo it is! If you would like to put a face to my name, I have a face shot as my "Before" picture. You'll have to look in my profile. I think all you do is click on my "wild flower" circle icon to get there.

Sherri I am so happy to hear you are doing well. Sausage, oh my, there are a lot of jealous people around these parts right now. It's great that you can tolerate all the different foods.

I also went to Home Depot and purchased a big piece of plywood. If I have to elevate the top of the bed, I'll be ready. The next mattress I purchase will be an electric one that elevates at the push of a button. But I am very happy with my room. I have been working on this all week. It's kind of a nursery and in a way I am giving birth to ME

Tomorrow I start my 3 days of Clear liquids. Let's hope I have enough will power to make it. I have set up a command center. I actually moved out of my bedroom for several reasons. 1. I want to be in the main floor not upstairs 2. My husband arrived today from a business trip to Asia and I cannot get sick at this point. He is going to be so jet legged and up at all hours. I can't handle that right now. I tiered and cranky, I eat - NOOOOO 3. I am expecting to be in some pain and up at all hours when I get back home. I don't want to keep him up all night. The Den it is. I must say it is very cozy: queen bed, recliner, arm chair, sofa, shelf with all my drink/food items, giant tv, laptop, music, books and last but not least 8 pillows. I really like my new room

@@tacycakes You made it through. I am so glad you are not in pain. Reading everyone's posts it's quite a mixed bag. But at this point you probably have the pump, which I understand is wonderful.

@@layknee Home and free. No sleep can be the worst form of torture. Get some rest and a new day will emerge. The good news is you are covered on fluids for right now. I was amazed at how much they were able to place you on.

@ ammylynns So sorry you are having a ruff time. Nausea can be absolutely devastating and what you are going through surely sounds familiar. Try to sleep and sip anything you can. But if you can't no big deal they can put you on a IV. It will be okay, you will heal, just maybe not right now.

“I’m Cleaning My Plate Because Children Are Starving in Africa…”and Other Terrible Excuses to Overeat
Beni replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I saved a great number of children in Ethiopia by finishing my meals. I recall a particularly gnarly incident were I had to sit at the table, for what seemed like hours, to finish a plate my grandmother had filled to the brim at some family gathering at her house. My tummy hurt but I HAD to finish it. -
A week before RNY I figured out I am not able to tolerate whey Protein. Nausea and multiple bathroom trips are not the stomach flu after all. I am lactose intolerant but I drink Lactaid milk without a problem. What am I supposed to eat for Protein shakes. Anyone in the same predicament? Suggestions? I have been waiting for my NUT to return my call but no luck so far.

"...but you're 7 pounds short of qualifying"
Beni replied to Engteacher's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call insurance and get the requirements from the horse's mouth, so to speak. Or ask them to e-mail you the section pertaining to Bariatric surgery or where you can find it. I called because maneuvering through the website was taking forever. I have 3 co-morbs, so no issue but 2 years ago when I briefly considered this surgery I wouldn't have qualified. The sad thing is I had to get in worse shape(not by choice) to get this done. It would have been so much easier to have it done then and avoid all the extra trouble. -
@ layknee On the funny side of things. I added up all the fluids they have placed in you and that amounts for about 10 lbs of stuff. I was thinking you were going for weight loss. Did you tell them you were already good at gaining weight on your own and didn't need their help, lol. The good news is the potty will take care of it but geez, you'll be making a lot of trips. No chance of getting any rest at the ER, you might as well get your money's worth using the facilities. OMG life does throw us such curve balls. I hope you know I am saying all of this with the intent of entertaining you.
-
@layknee How terrible. Geez, no room? That's cruel. After surgery you are already feeling pretty low now with this and no rest A total bummer. One more day and back to sip, sip, sip. This time do it like it's going out of fashion. If you can of course!

@@Melora I had gained a lot of Water weight in the last month of my pregnancy and I looked like the Pillsbury dough boy. I ordered at the last minute these mint green breastfeeding nightshirts. They were inexpensive and looked the part. They were actually huge with big giant holes for breastfeeding. I looked and felt like a tent wearing them. I have never been fond of mint green ever since. How are you doing a week after? Pain managable? Feel free to be honest. I'm a gladiators and fear is not a factor. Lol!

@@Jyoyonomore You are so kind. Yes, Tuesdays are awesome days.

@@AuriP I can totally understand the "I can't wait to feel good about my decision." It is by far my greatest worry. But then I remember going home with my newborn child in some serious pain and after two weeks of living in my nightgown (I had 3 the same color so it felt like I never changed) and barely functioning due to sleep deprivation and I thought, I can't do this, I'm just not strong enough. My baby had colic and cried almost non stop. She wouldn't latch, the formula made her throw up. It was ruff. At one point, I was walking up the stairs and stopped midway collapsed on the steps and cried like a baby. I was so exhausted I wanted to die. Two weeks with almost no sleep will do that to you. I look at it now and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. I sincerely hope this surgery will be the same. Ruff to start with but gradually we'll get the hang of it. Or at least die trying. No one can say we didn't try because we gave it everything we got.

It's OFFICIAL I cannot stand the spell check at Bariatric Pal. Who corrects "today" as "to day." Now that I am over that I can move on to better things. Welcome @armygalafwife. What kind of prep are you doing?

I feel just like a 4 year old, are we there yet? ......What about now...........now.
