That seems like the impossible dream!
jasmona1214 replied to jbtullis's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I need to join your club. I weighed 333lbs. at my starting point,303lbs. on surgery day and 283lbs. today. I lost 30lbs. on pre-surgery diet, 20lbs. in the last month. The weight loss center set my goal weight at 170lbs. so I still have a way to go. I was in a area on this site where people were giving each other hints on how to make sure that their weight and or BMI were high enough to get surgery! My gosh! My surgeon wanted to do RNY, but the weight loss center thought that Lap-Band was better for me due to the meds. I take. That was fine with me, the RNY etc. scare me. I am going to have my first fill on Feb. 4th. I can eat 1 and 1/2 cups of food at a time. I think that is to much. I am glad that I found you folks this is where I need to be. Oh 1 other thing... where do you girls get your clothes? I used to shop at the Avenue, but they just closed the one in my town. -

Feeling No restriciton and FUSTRATED!
jasmona1214 replied to zippyz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am hoping to have my first fill on Feb. 4th.. I lost 30lbs. on the pre-surgery liquid diet. After surgery have only lost 17lbs. Then last week at the center I was up 2lbs. I was banded Dec.27th. and am not sure if I have restriction at all as I limit myself to 1 cup of food, no breads, no pasta, no rice and scared to eat raw vegatables. And yes I am Hungry!!! By the way how far long between liquids and food? What about soup? -
Just Curious...Post Op Depression/Anxiety
jasmona1214 replied to CandiOPanda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder why my Dr. has me on Wellbutrin if it stimulates me, I have major anxiety issues. I have taken Cymbalta and had an allergic reaction to it. I have also been on Paxil, Prozac,Lexapro and Effexor. Effexor worked quite well but was a nightmare to get off of, so I will never take it again. I see my Dr. on Tues. and may have to address the Wellbutrin issue with him. There are so many Meds. that cannot be crushed, I think it limits us somewhat. -
Nosy family members + my dating life = mortification
jasmona1214 replied to secretstolen's topic in Singles Forum
I guess I have a question, make that 2 why do our parents[step or otherwise] feel as though they can treat us as children forever and why do we take crap from them that we would never take from our friends. Just wondering! -
I have been eating steel cut oats, I add 1/4 c. applesauce [sF] and applepie spice, a little milk, and that hangs on for a long time.

I really like the Barefoot Contessa, she is a really smart chick and has a pretty hot husband. Sandra Lee semi-Homade has overcome a lot, many of us have, but enough with those cocktails. I agree all those cake, cookie etc. competitions + Iron Chef anything need to go. The real Iron Chef was kind of cool when it was all dubbed, and the cute little Japanese movie starlet, is saying something like the blending of the flavors is so wonderful etc. It was kind of like a Godzilla movie with weird food. I adore Diners,Drive-In's and Dives Guy is very funny. Thank-Goodness none of those places are near me, it could be dangerous.

How often do you weigh?
jasmona1214 replied to Twilight's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is so funny, I just love the people that weigh every time they get near the scale etc. I do it to, it makes me crazy when I weigh myself, step off the scales then step back on in 5 min. and it has changed. I need a different hobby NOW!!!! -
Just Curious...Post Op Depression/Anxiety
jasmona1214 replied to CandiOPanda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my gosh, my sister stayed with me for 3 nights after surgery, and when she left I cried and cried and cried......I don't know why, but it was like I am all alone, no one cares etc. I know this is abig deal for me[being banded] but everyone else has a life also. I have been dealing with depression and panic attacks for 20+ years. I am still on my meds. but feel a sense of sorrow at my loss[?]. I want others to be interested in my weight loss but, at the same time, I feel pressured to lose, a certain amount each week. I lost 30lbs. on the pre-surgery diet[4 weeks]+ 11 more in the 2 weeks since my banding. So 41lbs. total is not bad, but I go to get weighed tomorrow and fear a sense of doom. I know that I cannot keep lossing 5lbs. each week, sure would be nice though. I go next week for my first fill, What is it like? -
I was banded on 12/27.

getting stuck where?
jasmona1214 replied to sfeiner's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As I am reading along here someone was talking about the pasta or breads getting stuck ,due to the gluten. I am wondering if gluten-free products would help. Also in reading my info. from the program that I went through, it said "that when first banded yor pouch will hold 8oz. fluid or 2-4oz. solid, when you receive your fill then your pouch will hold 2-4oz total." could this be a typo? How can you live on 2-4oz. 3x daily+ drink 64oz. of water? You would have to set your alarm clock to get up and drink! I was banded 12/27 and still have nausea and have no energy. I talked to the dietition today any she said I need more protein and may have developed lactose intolerance.I do not do soy, and have been using whey but are there other types of protein powder? Thank-You for your reply! -
Lachic39, have you already lost 14lbs.in 2 weeks?

getting stuck where?
jasmona1214 replied to sfeiner's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi , I was banded 12/27. What is slimeing and what are pb. Thank-You for your reply. -
Hi, I don't know where you live, but there is a plus size consignment shop in Charlotte. Charlotte is near Lansing. I was banded 3 days ago, and lost 30+lbs. before surgery, But I can "shop" in my own closet for a while as I have clothes that even though they did not fit I could not bear to part with. I definitly would also try to sell your clothing on e-bay, plus sizes do sell well.

Has anyone had Dr. David Kam as their Surgeon?
jasmona1214 replied to BlessedTwice's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think Dr. Kam was in Lansing, MI at some point. I have heard wonderful things about him. -
Hi Merry Losers, Was banded 12/27 and just today starting to feel normal{?}. When I was in the "Holding Cell" {pre-op} I had a great desire to jump off the gurney and leave. It was like what am I doing? The surgery went fine, had the overnight stay in the hospital and came home still thinking, what have I done to myself! Stepped on the scales this a.m., I am down 3lb. Oh that's right, that's why I did this. My father and stepmother were at the hospital waiting with a friend of mine during my surgery. I guess my stepmother asked my friend "So how much did she weigh before she started all this." my friend told my stepmother " I'm really not sure, why would you ask?" and after I got to my room at the hospital my stepmother was telling me that the surgeon had said how much fat was all over and around my liver. I asked my surgeon the next day he said "Some fat". I really Feel the Love from that woman. Needless to say she is not one of my support circle. The nerve, the nerve. Enough about her, I am having a great deal of nausea, I have been drinking peppermint tea, but... how long should this last?.......

Best Liquid Meal Replacement/Protein Shakes
jasmona1214 replied to Evilah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Michigander, where in MI were you banded? I was banded Dec. 27th.[2 days ago] at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. Please reply!!! -
Hi, I am just interested in the different diets that Dr.'s have you on pre-op and post op. I have been on liquids for 4weeks prior, will be on clear liquids in hospital, and when I come home can start yogurt, cream soups, cream of wheat {or cream of rice} but all with protein powder or powdered milk mixed in. I do not know what I have after 1 week on this stuff. I am sure they will tell me. In all honesty, that tuna does sound very good but....... I would ask my Dr. first also. My understanding is that this is a place for support and not a place for personal attacks. I am being banded at 12:30 tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!

Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
jasmona1214 replied to whosthatgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I know what torture for food junkies, such as myself. I have been on liquid protein + 1 protein bar a day for 4 weeks. I did have egg drop soup on christmas eve. I am allowed to have broth so.....the way I see it, that's better than sweet and sour chicken and 2 plates of crab ragoon. I am starting to get a little antsy my banding is Thur. a.m. I think my sister is more on edge about this than I am. Her job is to care for the cats[2] and drive me home from the hospital. She said she is going to stay at least 2 nights. Does anyone think I will need her even that long? -
I am so glad that granny k's surgery went well. I had not read anything on the MERRY LOSERS for quite a while, and was dishearted to see people attack one another. I have been on liquid protein shakes and bars for almost 4 weeks, it has not been easy but I have lost 31lbs. I was not always 100% with the plan, I had a couple of weak moments. But in the days leading up to my surgery I am all with it. Glad that everyone is doing well after surgery. I wil be so relieved after the 27th.

I agree she has overcome alot.But...............enough with the cocktails.

6 months med sup diet ??
jasmona1214 replied to soozan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Ins. Co. required at least 3 documented weight loss atemps. I had been to Weight Watchers 6 months and had used Xenical for 6 months. A weaker strenth formula of Xenical is being marketed over the counter as ALLI. Have you not tried any diets long term before? -

jasmona1214 replied to whosthatgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks for your reply. It is tough isn't it? It seems as though so many activities this time of year revolve around food. Maybe you can help me, I really wanna get a ticker but I do not know how to do it. -
Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
jasmona1214 replied to whosthatgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am being "allowed" to purchase Optifast products from the program. I get to "enjoy" 5 shakes and 1 bar a day. Also I may have broth, diet jello, decaf. tea, diet pop and sugarfree popsicles. The liquid diet has not been really bad, just very costly. Shakes are $3.25 each bars are $2.35 each, a weeks worth of food ends up costing $130.20. But this is what is required, and I have lost 30+ lbs in 3 weeks. After surgery they would "like" you to buy their product, but you are not required to. -
Hi, I am having my surgery on Dec. 27th. I will be on all liquid diet for 4 weeks prior to surgery. I am not worried about the surgery......but the being put out always scares the s*** out of me. I have heard that some programs have you on liquids for 2 weeks. I wonder what the differance is ?
