I attended my first informational session in January, 2014 but I didn't schedule an appointment with the Surgeon until Early March. I got my instructions on what I needed to then and I got my cardiac clearance right away because I am the proud owner of stents and I thought that this would be the one issue which could cause me to either not qualify for the surgery. But I passed that testing and I was good to go, or so I thought. But along the way I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia and sleep apnea. We do nothing about the hiatal hernia but I had to be treated for the apnea which caused another delay while waiting for appointments for sleep studies and for results to be read. I also ended up doing 4 weight management sessions instead of three because I gained a little weight at one of those.. Once the surgeons office informed me they "had everything" I waited patiently for my insurance approval to come. I waited 1,2,3,4 weeks until I called the program, got the run-around, finally found the right person to talk to and I was informed that there was still things missing!!!! Not tests, but the documentation. I was missing some weight history from my primary and the clearance letter from the cardiologist. The Primaries office just had to fax over the history but the clearance letter had yet to be written. This is in September and the testing was in March. So finally the cardiologist wrote the letter and we are all submitted. But because I had the testing done so long ago that it will have to be updated, but I will use on of the cardiologists in the program in order to avoid any delays. hopefully no additional testing is required except maybe an ekg. So that is where I am: waiting for insurance approval.
