journey 14 replied to jennn0218's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
91 pounds down 9 months post-op. The charts say I need to lose 30 to 40 more pounds. I would be happy in a single digit pant size! -

journey 14 replied to hopeful paki's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have tried several vitamins and someone suggested ez melts vitamins and I am really liking them especially the iron. Most of the iron chewable have had a bitter taste! I ordered off of Amazon and reasonably priced. -
The pre op liquid diet helps you get mentally prepared for the post op liquid diet. I missed chewing something when I was on the pre op and post op liquid diet.

-
When I go to Starbucks, I order a decaffeinated sugar free hazelnut soy latte and carry a scoop of unflavored Isopure protein and mix it in. Liquid and protein.

Need something new
journey 14 replied to jenn2752781's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought the health wise protein variety soup packs. Sugar free jello for something sweet. It doest get old but you will get through it! -
I am almost 3 months post-op and it depends on the day and the texture of chicken. Chew chew chew and eat slowly. I forget sometimes and eat too fast and pay for it every time. I had a chicken sausage grilled last night that my husband grilled and it didn't agree with me at all. The other day, I had buffalo chicken topping off of a pizza and I had no problems. Trial and error I guess.

Any Fun Hospital Stories?
journey 14 replied to Jonathan Blue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was walking my laps and the Nurse comes up to me and says your gown is open in the back! My robe had caught my gown and my butt was showing....I was so embarrassed! The Nurse said, it's nothing we haven't seen before and we both laughed! -
If you can't take ibuprofen for menstrual cramps and Tylenol doesn't work what else can we take? I am 2 months post-op of gastric bypass. Called Dr office but nurse never called back yet... I'm using heating pad but cramps seem more intense than usual.

How open are you with your employer re:surgery plans?
journey 14 replied to MaureenVA's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I chose to keep it private. My boss knew I was having my gallbladder removed and I had some other health issues but I didn't get into detail with the boss or co-workers. HR knew because of the FMLA forms but I asked for confidentiality regarding my surgery with boss and HR and of course HR can't breech that. I felt it wasn't their business. I only missed 7 days of work. Of course people might make their own assumptions and especially when they have complimented me on my weightloss! -
Dumping vs. Foods Disagreeing
journey 14 replied to Sparklingbeauty53's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have had troubles with eating slow enough with my family because they eat so fast. I forget sometimes and don't chew my food long enough and boy do I pay for it! I have found that rotisserie chicken is moist and my stomach tolerates it much better as well as meats cooked in crockpot. -
Buying new sized clothes.....
journey 14 replied to gahannagal's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It has been interesting journey with clothes. I got rid of a lot of clothes in closet in the BIG sizes I never want to wear again and donated to someone who needed them. I have shopped at consignment stores, yard sales of people I knew and outlet stores on the sale rack. I can't wait till I meet goal weight and my Hubby has promised me a new wardrobe and that great motivation!! -
I was told to stay away from caffeine and my Dr said decaf was fine. I use sugar free creamer and put a scoop of unflavored protein powder mixed with creamer and it is 10 grams of protein!

How many weeks did you take off?
journey 14 replied to Hannah Melinda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 10 days off but am going to extend to 14 days. I don't have strength back yet after one week post op today. If I had the money, I would take 3 to be safe. I as m praying for strength to come back this next week. They say everyone is different. -
I haven't noticed prior to today but I have a dry mouth really bad. Is it normal side effect? Been drinking plenty of fluids.

How long until you went back to work?
journey 14 replied to Sreeves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery Aug 30th and am hoping to go back to work September 11th if Post Op appointment goes well on the 10th. I am really tired this week and having a hard time with getting enough liquids down. Dr. recommends 2 weeks for Dr desk job. I might end up going back the 15th. We will see how this next week goes. -
I just had surgery and wondered the same thing. You will wake up in recovery and my experience was they woke me up and moved me to my room. Gave me nausea medicine through the IV and a button to push for pain. Once you are settled in bed, your family can come in. They gave me a sponge on a lollipop stick that I would wet my mouth. Nothing to drink till next day after leak test. Try to walk when you are able, helps with gas and circulation. Meds made me groggy.
