i had my surgery 6/9/15. today i met a big goal of mine: 215, aka my smallest adult weight. i looked at my day of surgery pic, and i am amazed at the change that's happened in such a short time. so here's my dos pic and one from today. and also some face pics...for most of my life, i was overweight but i never had a full face until the last 4 years. so very glad it's slimmed back down!

after i bring in my bike, the hallway gets pretty crowded. i slid past through the space between the wall and the bike to get to the baby bike seat in the front and happened to catch my reflection in the door. the opening was very narrow and i wouldn't have even attempted (or at least got caught on the handlebars) before. it's so freeing to walk and know you won't bump into something or that you are small enough to clear a smaller space -

nieuwevis replied to Abbie213's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Can anyone compared RNY to c-section?
nieuwevis replied to RNYDawn's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
very similar experience with me, too. the worst rny pain was the gas, i only took pills for my dehydration headache. and my baby was only 13 months at the time, so i couldn't avoid not lifting her for weeks. we managed. Thank you so much! Hooboy, My kids will be 2 and almost 5 at the time of my surgery. I'll have to let the 2 year old be her independent self (I may be guilty of not wanting her to get big!) and assist vs. do things for her girl I'm still crying every time i box up her old clothes. she's an only, so i have to take advantage! -

Things I hate about being skinny
nieuwevis replied to micmt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
lol i love this! i still have a while to go, and paradoxically my butt has gotten bigger yet with my tailbone it hurts more to sit. and lying on my side means knee bone rub. just bones, man. all the bones. except the collar bones. those are just fantastic -
I'm only 3.5, but I only feel nauseated when low on water or my belly is empty for too long.

How about some NSVs!?!?
nieuwevis replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
so, about 6 weeks ago, i scored some size 18 (older and newer) jeans for $6. the newer 18s were a little tight, the older ones are at most today's 16s. i'm now in the "tighest" pair. i was last in a 16 when i was 16 lol. then my most awesome mil took me shopping. i'll post my first progress pic in that outfit when i wear it to her party :big cheesy grin: -

What to do with clothes
nieuwevis replied to Daveo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i like donating to those places, too, cause i think about how much harder it is to find my size there. except this time it's not the clothes i've outgrown! -
woot! I'm 18 away, can't wait!

I know I'm weird and sometimes a little stupid, but I had to know
nieuwevis replied to Cheri_j's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i only get sick when i eat or drink too much. but i got the surgery prinarily to curb my overeating. i'm not a sweets person, so i haven't had too much trouble, but i loved my chips. i tried some, and the texture completely destroyed the desire lol -
Severe dehydration
nieuwevis replied to Lovelyorchid's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oh man, i fainted once from dehydration. so not cool. what has helped me is making a schedule. every other hour i give myself 30 mins to drink 250ml of flavored water. at 9 weeks out, i can drink pretty well (in the beginning it's so hard to drink normal, but not anymore). so from 8-830 i drink, then from 9-930 i eat, etc. i should add that i am told to drink 1500ml a day, which is about 50 oz, and by the end of the day i'll have closer to 1750ml.
