    Post-Op checkup

Post-op checkup went well. I walked in and they weight me right away... from 281 day of surgery to 271 today (Dec3 - Dec11). So it looks like I lost some weight.... So they also measured everywhere and asked a bunch of question and told me I dont need my bandage anymore. So the Nurse told me that I can gradually move on towards the mushy stage for about 3week. Doctor told me that I'm doing ok and look like my first fill will be in 6weeks . So they told me to come back in 6 weeks and also do some blood works before appointment day. I knew my first fill wont be for like 4 weeks but.... 6 week? I hope I dont gain anything and keep loosing weight. I think once my wounds heal more then I can start walking extra and xmas coming up... which means vaction time, I should hit the gym with all that extra time.

    It's been done!

If you had basic lapband surgery then lifting 10-15pounds should be fine but you had hernia surgery also which most likely they repaired the adominal wall, which lifting stuff will push into the wall

    Question

It all depends on the type of insurance, I have read alot people had to pay the full 225-275$ to see psych. I was lucky that my Blue Cross of CA covered psych visit and only had to pay 20$ under Health and Wellness.

    Post-Op checkup

Lucky you get your fill first... even though we had surgery same day. Well... I think as long as I keep losing weight then ill be fine with 6week wait on fill but if around Jan I stop losing then ill call doctor for a early appointment. I just dont want to slow down and stop loosing weight and then gotta kick start again couple week later (with possible gain in meantime). Have your doctor moved you to mushy food yet? I'm doing breakfest (protien drink), lunch (mushy), dinner (protien drink w/ popsicle)

    I Got Surgery Date!!

Atleast you know you going to have surgery then having to play cat and dogs with the insurance company on getting approved. You can always start your pre-op diet and then let the surgeon know that you have already started and that you are available whenever someone cancel appointment. Alot of people seem to get cold feet and appointment are always opening up.... look at the monthly for Dec, we have alot people surgery changing from one date to another. Anyways good luck and congrats on your approval.

    December Post-Op Thread

How many of you guys had doctor already pre-fill your lapband? My doctor said they wont pre-fill cause the band should already be some what tight on stomach. I'm still on my liquid protien diet but at night I usually eat tomato soup, chicken noodle, clam chowder... these are very small containers... size of coke cans that you put in microwave and sugarfree popsicle. I will go in 2morrow to see doctor for post-op surgery to see how everything going.

    Bariatric Centers of Excellence

My Blue Cross of CA didnt require 6month supervised diet but it need to be stated in Doctor letter to Surgeon that you have tried and failed many diet plans. Was so glad that I had Blue Cross of CA and was approved so fast before Jan 2008 cause we was moving over to UHC which has different reqirements and I have missing records that is needed for 5year proof... even though i got 8 years overweight.

    Five Year Weight History

Best to give them a detailed 7 years Height/Weight/BMI (2 months like Jan and Aug each year) and short statement like wasnt sick or got medication over phone that year or lost while moving. If you have also older record of like Gerd, Gout, High Blood, High Clest, shortness of breath, and so on report those problems and numbers of diets and problems.

    Bariatric Centers of Excellence

Blue Cross of CA makes it a requirement that surgery is done at Center of Excellence. So even is your surgeon is located in one area they may make you go to another hospital day of surgery. Oh ya and make sure the seminar you attend is given by the hospital/doctor doing surgery cause some places wont accept seminar/support groups from different area. So follow all the stuff they want you to do... Good Luck

  25. I live within minutes of Misson Viejo in Lake Forest (Irvine). My doctor is Dr. Nguyen at UCI Medical, which is in city of Orange. His team is very good and helpful. They also have seminars that you can attend but they also can get you started on other testing while you wait. Good Luck
