  1. I started my journey in Juarez, Mexico on 9/12/2014. I weighed in at 5'4.5", 247 lbs. I just returned home today greatfull to see my children and sleep in my bed. I was sleeved by a great team of docs lead by Dr. Jose Rodriquez Villarreal (Dr. Rod). My thanks to Dr. Rod, Dr. Calderon, Dr. Aramburo, Dr Solis, Dr. Castillo and Dr. Vizcama. As the child of two wonderful docs and the sister of one as well, I know good medical personel when I meet them. I am a difficult patient to please and I didn't have one complaint. My husband, who initially thought I was crazy to go to Mexico, was very impressed. I will admit that I did my research carefully before going and so did my family members. Star Medica is small private hospital, staffed with really nice, caring professionals who seem to smile all of the time. All of my doctors spoke English, though much of the staff did not, which didn't seem to matter. They understood what I needed when I needed it which made things so much easier. I experienced pain because of the gas which was to be expected. Two days out and I feel almost completely normal. When I got home, I weighed in and was 238! I was really surprised. I didn't expect to see 9 lbs gone already. I feel as though I have a new opportunity to live again. I've been overweight for the last 8 years and its been a major roadblock to me living and enjoying life. I don't want to be afraid to run in to friends and have them say "She's so big now or Wow, she's gotten fat". I don't want to feel like I'll embarrass my kids or husband when I go out. I want to take family pictures. Not one of these excuses will hold me back any longer. I'm so glad that I've started my journey and that Belite was an option for me.
  2. Its going great for me but I still hate not being take a sip while I eat.
  3. I was sleeved on 9/12. Just wanted to share how excited I am.....put on a pair of jeans I hadn't worn in 2 years!!!! Though its frustrating that the scale isn't moving quickly.....I'm glad that it isn't because I know that slower weight loss is healthier. I have to admit that I have cheated on Halloween candy. Not a lot mind you but I've snuck a couple of Almond Joys. I'm doing much better with getting in my Water but still don't have a big appetite. No regrets!
  4. When I eat.....I can do 1 scrambled egg....or a premier Protein chocolate drink. For dinner I can do salmon or sea bass ....with about 2 tbs of veggies. I can't eat more than 3 oz at a time. The more dense the protein the less I can eat. I have my days where i can get in my Water and those when I can't. The biggest problem for me is that I'm never hungry so I have to force myself to eat. I also hate that I can't take a sip here and there while I eat....very frustrating.

    Painfully Alone in This

You need to talk to your mom and tell her how you feel. Remind her that although your son is healthy and active, you don't want to have him start bad habits and face the struggles that you have. She will either hear you or not, but at least you tried. Remember your success will be the best way to show them. BTW, you're not alone...you have your son!
  6. To my knowledge, there are no HCA plans that cover bariatric services. At least in GA they do not. Make sure you read the plans carefully before you choose. Edit.....I stand corrected... http://www.bariatric-surgery-source.com/obamacare-weight-loss-surgery.html
  7. I felt the same way. I couldn't not understand how my doctor was rated a 3/5 so I sent an inquiry. I was disgusted to see the response: Thank you for contacting the office of Dr. alejandro lopez and Dr. Jacqueline Osuna, Specialized Bariatrics, Inc. One of our staff at Specialized Bariatrics, Inc. will contact you shortly. Call Direct: (855) DR.LOPEZ 7052 Hillsdale Circle, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762
  8. I had my surgery done on Sept 12th in Juarez with Dr. Rodriquez Villarreal. I am the daughter of 2 docs as well as the sister of one......so I am very picky about my medical care. I was nervous at first, but I did research and was very pleased with what I found. Dr. R has a wonderful team of doctors that he works with and they were amazingly thorough. The hospital staff was awesome and the hospital was so clean it put facilities in the US to shame. I stayed in the hospital from the time I arrived until I left. No complications... he uses sutures and staples internally and glue on the skin. The surgery cost me about $7K ...more than worth it to get healthy. You can private message me if you want to talk and have any questions.
  9. Who are you going to in Mexico? I had my surgery done there as well and I am so happy that I did.
  10. I went through this right before my surgery and a few days ago. I didn't go to ER though. Try magnesium citrate. I drank about a 1/2 bottle and used a fleets...it helped me.
  11. Please don't worry. I stalled for 3 weeks. I did lose inches during the stall though. Everyone will hit a stall....for some it starts earlier....its just your body reacting to the surgery. You didn't make a mistake!!! You WILL lose weight! You WILL become healthier. You WILL be ok!
  12. Hi Frankie. I think my decision was made quickly and I don't regret it one bit. At the end of August I contacted Belite just to get some info and within a couple of days I bought my tickets to TMexico. I had my surgery on Sept 12th and would have had it soon if I didn't want to save a little money on airfare. It was the best decision I've made for my health. I was self pay too which is why I chose to go medtour to save funds. I hope you feel the same happiness I feel now that I see that scale moving!!!
  13. Don't worry! My stall just ended after two weeks!
  14. I'm looking at the variances in everyone's directives as well. For me it was 1 week clear, 1 week full, 2 weeks pureed/soft with a list of what was allowed. I hit a 2 week stall after week one and the scale is finally moving again today. I did have discomfort for about a week when swallowing but I went back to work immediately (I WFH ) so not as strenuous. Everyone definitely heals differently and I have a high tolerance for pain so I feel pretty good quickly. I can't seem to remember to take the antacids. Will this cause a significant problem? I don't feel like I have a build up of acid. Other than that...getting my protein in pretty well. Had some salmon and it was delicious! I've also learned what dumping syndrome from not chewing well enough. Will be more careful.
  15. @@TheBlissfulNatural It will get better. The first week after surgery, it hurt every time I took a swallow and I had a hard time getting in fluids too. You won't feel miserable for long. I'm still not getting in 64 oz but I'm getting in more and more each day and I'm 2.5 weeks out. It's a big change to accomplish a big change! You can do this and when you look back in a couple of months, you'll be able to smile about the early frustrations.

    Two Week Plateau?

I have been stalled for the past 8 days, so I was really glad to see that explanation. I've lost 18 lbs post surgery and I was sleeved on 9/12 so I'm not unhappy. I will say that it still feels like things are getting smaller. Does anyone else have trouble going to the bathroom? That is my biggest issue. I'm on soft foods/full liquids. So I'll do scrambled egg in the morning, chicken salad in the afternoon, creamy Soup for dinner and a Protein shake for snack. I definitely am not getting more than 3 oz in each meal so I know the pouch is small. I'm probably only getting in about 32 to 48 ozs of Water though and I know that has to improve. Its hard to remember to keep sipping. Still....no regrets!
  17. I am wishing for diarrhea or anything. I just want to go. I have used Colace every day, mMiralax and am not sure what else to do. I now believe that the scale won't move because I'm full of it! LOL. I feel better everyday. I do have dizzy spells in the mornings.....not sure why. Does anyone else have them?
  18. I know how you feel. I've been stuck at 18 lbs for the last 4 days. I think we get spoiled at the scale moving so fast. It can't always be that way I guess.
  19. I did my sleeve on 9/12 in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico at Star Medica with Belite and Dr. Rodriquez Villarreal. I don't regret going to Mexico at all. In fact, our hospitals could learn a lesson on cleanliness! I've lost 18 lbs so far Post Op, which is amazing to me! While I don't see it personally, others say they do. Today is the first day that I can sip anything without a little cramp and I'm so glad that's gone. I'm on full liquids now for the next 10 days and then on to soft foods for another week. I don't find myself feeling hungry but I do miss texture. I still have trouble getting in all my fluids and suffered from severe constipation the after surgery. It took 8 days before I could go. I'm using colace daily now as well as Nexium, Alive gummy multivitamin, liquid B complex and Vitamin D. I'll probably add Biotin if i suffer any hair loss......but I have so much, I may not even notice it. The only thing that was difficult was the gas pain, but that is now gone too.

    Miserable

Sometimes it take them to see the proof to buy in. Once he sees you get healthy and happier...he'll want a piece of that too. Especially when other take notice. Men are oh so visual.

    Miserable

Hey Halloween Baby. I'm a HalloweenBaby too, just 20 year earlier! I was sleeved on the 12th and I can't seem to get the fluids down. I have a little hunger but not too bad and I'm kind of used to it. I was a once a day eater before I was sleeved. How do you get the Water in? Staying hydrated is what worries me. I'm tempted to put in my own darn IV!
  22. I'm 3 days out and I feel pretty normal. i have a high tolerance for pain as well. The day of and next day were really uncomfortable for me due to the gas. Gas-x didn't really work at all for me. I have an occasional spasm, but nothing that I can't handle though.
