Are the Side Effects Worth It

Hi all November 12, 2010 will make 3 years post-op for me; I love my band, I can't see a life without it. I had no problems until now as a result of over restriction. I had an unfilled today 5cc gone I am left with 3cc.I feel like mourning. I have no buyer’s remorse, I think about how much worst off I would be without my band all the time. -
Hi all:scared2: It has been a while since I posted or came on this forum. I had many changes in my life since I the last time I was here. I got re-married, both my parents past away months of each other; I have had lots of stress. On March 3 2009 I had a fill and un-fill within 2 days leaving 8.5cc in my 10cc. Band. For the past 5 months I‘ve been plague with very bad acid reflux (throwing-up in my sleep even 3 to 4 hours after eating) and no restriction. As a result my diet consists of soup, and any mushy food. Today I went for a fill, instead I had barium and esophagus x-ray to find out I am to restricted which cause the acid reflux, and the diet of mushy food caused the weight gain (21lbs) and I had to have my band un-fill. They took out 5cc leaving only 3cc. I feel horrible, like I have to start all over. How will I prevent myself from gaining more weight? 3cc. Is nothing! Help me please, I need help:scared2::biggrin: Thank you

I struggled with a lost and gain of 14lbs , I just had a fill and a small unfilled. I hope to re-dedicate myself to my band and get back on track. Here we go again. P.S. it's good to hear how well you all are doing. Foofy I am sorry about your mom, my prayers are with you. -
Hi Foofy and everyone, I am sorry to hear about your mom, you are in my prayers. Like you foofy I haven’t lost much since July. In reality it has been a struggle not to regain too much weight. I have been fighting with a 6 to 10 lb gain since the end of July; I drop it and gain it right back. I have had many changes in my life, and I find myself turning to old habits, also I suffered a knee injury this winter so I haven’t exercise for the past 3 months. I am going to the doctor next week Wednesday to get a fill, and I want to use that as my opportunity to start over. 16 months post op I haven’t reached my goal weight of 170. I know I should be proud and happy with what I have accomplished thus far. However, after having tasted victory I want more, I am hopping that I will make it by my 37th birthday on July 30th. To reach my goal I decided to do the following: 1.Get a fill ( take care of my band) 2.Go back to what worked for me before. (living and eating the bandster way) 3.Exercise (I may have to start slow all over again, but slow and steady wins the race) 4.Support (I will log on to the message board and try to post at least once a week) I am hopping; going back to basic will help me to restart my weight lost and get me back on track. If anyone would like join me, that would be great, together we are unstoppable. Marie

The good thing is I am still losing.:tongue_smilie: -
Hi everyone, I haven’t posted or come on the board for over a month. I have been struggling since this summer with gaining and losing the same 9lbs. I have 8cc in my 10cc band, I loss about 9lbs after the first 3 weeks of my last fill which was six weeks ago. However, I gain it back the something has happened all summer, till now. I know the problem is my eating, during the early summer I was laid off and I turned to eating by grazing all day. I was called back before school started; since going back to work I am very good all day while at work; at home its different I graze for about 5 to six hours at night. I am trying to be positive, I try every week to go back to the band rules, but I don’t even make it one day and everyday I try again. I am very frustrated about my weight loss at the moment. I am almost a year out; I only lost 81lbs and still 77lbs away from my goal weight. I can figure out what to do, I feel like a failure. Have I fail to use my band as tool to loose weight or am I just not satisfy with what I have accomplished? I can seem to truly answer that question. I must say the only thing I have done right the last 3 months is maintaining my gym routine. I still go to the gym and do 45 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of free weight, one week 4 day one week 3 days. That is the only place I feel good about myself and my weight loss. Please help. I need Ideas, and help getting back on track. I am going to the doctor tomorrow, and hopping they can help me thru this dark time. Marie Gabrielle

Much harder the second time around...
mariegabrieleee replied to Sades's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sades and Linda, I know how you feel I haven't been eating right for about 2 months, and I exercise sporadically. I try anew everyday and fall back. I have been the same weight 233 to 236 lbs for almost 12 weeks. Sades you are right it about more then restriction; it’s because I have some restriction that I haven gain more weight. It’s about getting you mind to stop turning to food when times are hard, or your sad. It’s about breaking old habits, but they are so hard to break. I can’t seem to end this love hate relationship I have with food. One thing I know we do so much better with support and help; I might not come on the board all the time but I know without it I would be worst of. So let help each other keep up the good fight.
