  1. I'm scheduled for 6/30 but my surgery is 2 parts and my band was removed in April.
  2. Yes but it wasn't hard for me. I had my band out in one procedure and then my surgeon required me to wait 3 months anyway before he would do the sleeve. Aetna approved both procedures easily. The 90 day diet shouldn't be a big deal because it usually takes a few months to do all the pre-op testing etc. required by your doctor.

Band to sleeve question. Please help.

I had my band removed separately from my sleeve (band removed in April and will get sleeve at the end of the month). I don't think it was called a revision but my insurance was billed separately for 2 surgeries. Not sure if that helps you but my understanding is that the insurance companies require all of the same pre-op things (supervised diet, psych, etc.) before approval even if it is all done in one surgery. Edit to say that I also had a different insurance for my band placement in 2007 and my removal and sleeve in 2015. Hope that is helpful. I don't think that they care about this as long as your insurance doesn't have an exclusion. Your surgeon's office will write a history and they will hear about everything and consider it.,
  4. Anyone have gerd and hernia repair during sleeve surgery? How were your symptoms after? I am currently on nexium and surgeon said I will possibly/ likely be on it after the repair as well. My gerd symptoms are fine on the nexium as long as I don't eat before I go to sleep.

    Gerd and hernia repair

My surgeon and gi told me that even with hernia that based on endoscopy there is no reason for me to get bypass over sleeve and I have a large hernia with symptoms. You should be fine!

    Gerd and hernia repair

Very helpful! Thanks and good luck!
  10. I have been quite shocked too! I am up about 7lb since April 15th!
  11. I thought I had no restriction when fluid was out but believe me all new ball game of hunger when band is out completely.

    Hair loss

Fyi my nutritionist says that MANY protein shakes inaccurately report the protein content. They tested some of them and they claimed 25 and only had 5! Maybe that is the problem.

    For the first time ever...

I am very curious… why don't' you think you can get down to 155 or lower? Seems like you have been doing great and are still less than a year out of surgery? I have same stats as you btw and having surgery in a few weeks. The least I've ever weighed in my adult life was 165. That was when I was 22 or 23 and had dieted and exercised to lose about 40 pounds. And that was before I was on birth control. I probably *could* get below 155 if I worked VERY hard, but I honestly have no desire to. I think I would look too skinny. I honestly am very happy with the way I look right now. Losing more than 20 more pounds I would definitely look too thin, in my opinion. I work out a LOT and do a lot of strength training, so I think I'd also likely have to lose some muscle in order to get below 155. Makes sense. BUT I went from 257 to 145 with the lap band and I hadn't been under 200 in 15-20 yrs. 165 is amazing though and I would be fully satisfied with that at my age!

  15. I'm trying to understand what I can add them to.... I am not a milk fan and I only need to be on full liquids for 7 days. Can I add to yogurt? Coffee (if so how and yes I'm allowed coffee). How do you add proteins to savory foods?
  16. 8lbs up since 4/15 even though I didn't have restriction with band. 6/30 can't get here soon enough b
  17. I had a band and was 110% successful but know many who aren't. The band takes a huge amount if follow up care. The complication rate is also huge. My sister and I have both had it removed and are awaiting sleeve surgery.

    Band to sleeve AETNA

Yes but wasn't a bug deal.

    Aetna POS II Revision

I did the 3 month diet but my surgeon removed band and is having me wait 3 months anyway. I have gained since the removal but was approved by Aetna anyway quickly.

    Argument with NP over Coffee

I'm allowed to have 2 cups a day post op for 6 weeks. After that as much as I want. My surgeon has been doing this for a long time too. She might not understand difference between rny and sleeve.

    Any June 29th Sleevers?

June 30th! Nothing left to do but pre-op testing.
  25. So I am scheduled for surgery this summer and about 4 weeks after surgery I am scheduled to have an informal reunion weekend with 4 of my closest college buddies. 2 of them are doctors and 2 of them are good friends of mine still and will know about surgery. What will I be able to do? I assume there will be alcohol involved and food and I am fine sitting there with a class of Water and a cup of Soup. Just hoping that the weekend isn't a disaster…. In terms of food I will have progressed past the pureed/soft stage at that point and be on to adding soft Proteins like diced chicken. My surgeon's office does things a little differently I think. Will I be comfortable sitting for a long time? Will I be up for a day of sightseeing? They are coming to my home town. Thoughts?
