  1. My surgeon said I'd lose about 70lbs overall probably within 2 years. I have about 100 to lose. He said this when I asked and didn't offer this or set it as an expectation.
  2. Me too! I'm down about 17lbs from my 2 day clear liquid diet. I can't help but worrying though since it has been so easy compared to the band. I keep wondering if I'll have adequate restriction as a revision patient. What does restriction feel like to you?
  3. How did the salmon work for you the other night? About 2 ozs maybe 3? How have you been doing?
  4. I honestly am so exhausted. Walking the dog exhausts me. Cooking dinner for family requires a nap. I was pretty active before surgery and some people on this board feel ready to run. What is happening?

    Coffee?

I was told I could have up to 16oz immediately. My nutritionist recommended unflavored protein powder mixed with iced coffee. I've had a couple of small cups so far.

    Creative Puree meals ?

Check out the world according to eggs face. I am a puree expert having had a lap band for 8 years. I like refried beans with fat free cheese and sour cream, egg salad, baked ricotta, steamed or baked fish.
  8. For what it is worth my nutritionist said that studies have shown that they don't really stretch yes, they do settle within the first year as part of the natural healing process but if done properly they don't stretch. Regain is from grazing, eating and drinking together, slider foods and other similar behavioral problems. I'm sure though that the degree of skill of surgeon does come into play too and there could be improperly shaped sleeves.

Barrett's Esophagus and GERD After Surgery

Have you had your symptoms worsen? Were you able to treat the gerd at all with meds?
  10. I am a revision patient. I was sleeved 2 weeks ago. I don't feel hungry, have been measuring my food and have lost a lot in the past 2 weeks. Maybe 16lbs? Anyway I am so worried because I hear of people only being able to get down 1-2 ozs at this point. I can eat 3-4 oz of purees no problem. I haven't felt pain or anything with eating - only a once or twice a twinge or something. Once or twice a bit of nausea from eating. I am on purees and I have eaten baked ricotta, yogurt, egg salad, refried Beans and even soft mashed fish. Is it because I am on purees that I don't feel much more than a lack of desire to eat?

    June 30th Sleevers?

Baked ricotta is great. Google shelly's baked ricotta.
  12. Thank you! I guess I just worry because I am a revision patient and this feels so different from the band. With the band I wasn't able to drink well for weeks after surgery. This time I was drinking well within a few days. I know that it doesn't mean I don't have restriction - just you know...
  13. This actually makes me feel better!
  14. I am only 2 weeks out on purees. I can eat 3-4ozs. When I say I "can" I mean I am satisfied after that amount. Can I ask you what it would feel like if you pushed it?
  15. I was sleeved 6/30 and I am down about 14lbs since the day of surgery (2 weeks ago) and I lost about 3 on the 2 day clear liquid diet. My BMI was about 41/42. I am sure I will hit a huge stall soon though.

    June 30th Sleevers?

So I was 258 or so before I started my pre-op clear liquids, 255 the day of surgery, today I was 241.5 so I guess I am down 16/17lbs or so? This is all on my home scale which I am not sure is that reliable. Whatever it is… I'll take it.
  17. I used to get this with my lap band. Also eating with a cold was very difficult.
  18. Thanks for the link. Just take websites like this with a grain of salt. If you look, most of the articles are written by this Dan Abeling guy who isn't a doctor.

Spaghetti 7 weeks out yes or no?

You're kidding, right? What does the material provided by your doctor/nutritionist say about bread, Pasta, rice, and potatoes? If they didn't give you an eating plan, shame on them. And here's a site that can answer most, if not all, your questions: http://www.bariatric-surgery-source.com/ As for this specific question, when my family has spaghetti, I just eat the meat sauce or meatballs and sauce and I'm satisfied. I think you will be too. Remember... Protein first, green veggies next, if you're still not full, maybe a tiny bit of fruit, and last and definitely least (as in, pretty much never)... starches. (Spaghetti squash and zucchini spaghetti count as green veggies.) And please call your doctor's office to ask why they didn't tell you what you should and should not eat after bariatric surgery. Good luck! Actually my material calls for a very small amount of pasta if you want when you go in solids. Remember every program us different. I probably won't because I prefer meat honestly. Having been there done that with the lap band and maintained for many years I can tell you that you can lose eating anything in moderation. A lot of people find small portions of pasta difficult though.
  20. Who wrote this article? Where did you find it?
  21. Thank you! It's very helpful. I'm on puréed for another week but I'm allowed fish so I'm trying some salmon tonight. Hope it goes well! Thanks for your help n
  22. I had one week. Then puréed for 2 weeks. Then solids.
  23. Thanks! This is what I thought I was feeling. Will be very effective because I will do anything to avoid nausea.

    Normal foods

So do u have the band or sleeve? I had the band and as of 6/30 I have a sleeve.

    Normal foods

I was sleeved the same day as you. I am on puréed food. At 3 weeks I am allowed to slowly phase in solids over a period of months. Crunch vegs and tough meats are the last thing to try.
