Sleep apnea and sleeve surgery
NuLife4Coy replied to Ramman313's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also have sleep apnea, I was told to bring my machine to the hospital. However, when I tried to go to sleep with it after surgery the o2 alarm would go off constantly, like every time I'd actually fall asleep. So the nurses keep coming in and making me take it off to give me oxygen. I kept telling them I was fine with my machine, they had to have a respiratory specialist come with a bipap machine so I could get the pressure with the oxygen. Worst sleep I have had since using the cpap. When I got home the next day I took a nap with my machine and was totally fine. Just bring it with you and don't let them mess with your machine. You'll be fine. -

10 days post op.... I cheated and had a noodle....

Oh how I hear you on this one. My dr wants 3 full weeks (21day) of liquid only following discharge. Up until now it's been ok. But now I'm feeling like I'm not getting enough. The hardest part for me right now is I have 11 more days to go before my follow up and they advance my diet and I see and read all these other posts that 10 days out people are eating purée and mushy stuff as tolerated... I have been eating nothing but water, protein shakes and pho broth...I'm bored as hell. I know it's only temporary, and I can do it, but I cheated too. I made a soft scrambled egg, took a few very small bites and did just fine with it. I only ate about half of it out of fear of hurting myself, but it was fine. I also had a bite of some cottage cheese at a friends house yesterday. It's totally the texture thing. I need flavors and textures. But I don't want to push it. I need to learn to control those urges. -
August post op sleevers: Check in

Hey there. I got sleeved 8/26. I'm doing very well no pain now, can walk as much as I'd like. I have a fitbit and I love it. Post surg I'm averaging about 2.0 miles a day, some days more. My dr requires a liquid only diet for the first 3 weeks. Im tolerating everything fine, but bored as hell with liquids. I'm just continuing them now out of necessity. I even called my nurse care cord. To see if I could move my check up date sooner (currently schedule for the 18th). She said no, they want 3 full weeks from discharge. Ugh...I just keep reminding myself this is temporary. Down 16 lbs since day of surg, 25 since beginning of preop diet. Haven't lost now for the last 3 days. I'm hoping something changes soon. -
My sleeve was done on 8/26...I went home from the hospital on 8/27, that evening the gas pain really started. It was awful. The next day is was a little better, and by Friday it was very little. Saturday was good Sunday better and I feel great today 1week post op. I weighed myself the night I got home from the hospital just out of curiosity, and was up 7 lbs from before surgery. It's all the gas, water weight and inflammation. It gets getter. Hang in there and follow the rules. I'm now down 16 lbs now since day of surgery. Having my protein shakes, broth, and a lot of water.

1 week post-op...are the changes I'm seeing normal?
NuLife4Coy replied to NuLife4Coy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for the info and reassurance. I was so surprised to see those changes so fast. Yes, dr. Gave me a ton of IV fluids in the hospital. One in pre-op into OR, and at least two while there overnight. I started getting Water to sip that evening. I had my first 4oz Protein shake at 730am the next day. My dr. Also let's me count any non caffeinated no sugar liquids as hydrating liquids. So broth, and herbal teas all count. Thanks again. -
1 week post-op...are the changes I'm seeing normal?

Sleeved on 8/26/14 and actually feeling pretty good. Slight belly soreness (to be expected) but not any real pain. Off pain meds since day 5, and getting plenty of Protein shakes in during the day, walking, and drinking Water and other hydrating liquids often. What I just noticed yesterday and more so today is that my legs that normally have excess water and occasional pitting edema are empty. I mean I can see my shin bone! My feet and ankles are skinny and I can fit into sandals and shoes that before were very tight...now, my foot just slides in. I have some soreness in my lower back, but mostly from my posture lately I think. Is this loss of water in my body normal? Anyone else notice this so soon. I was concerned about dehydration. But I am peeing regularly, drinking at least 48oz or more of water a day plus the shakes and don't have any symptoms of dehydration. I'm 13 lbs down since my day of surgery.. Is this stuff all normal?? Thanks for your info.
