Is PCOS considered a co-morbidity?
GOTIGERS replied to GOTIGERS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so surprised that insurance companies don't just jump at the opportunity to approve weight loss surgery. I mean, I'm sure it's way more expensive to pay for a life time of medications and specialist visits for a diabetic. I know that with my pcos alone, I have had so many tests and dr's visits, and even a plethora of medications. I'm sure it's way less expensive to them to just cover the dang WLS. I just don't understand it -

Which insurance did you have krisrpaz? I'm sorry to hear that you had so much trouble getting it covered -
I just went to my first seminar and got all of my paperwork turned in to get this process rolling today. The surgeon who did the seminar mentioned poly cystic ovarian syndrome while discussing co-morbidities. My insurance paperwork did not have anything on there about pcos. Are any of you familiar with this? Did your insurance consider pcos a co-morbidity? I am not full blown diabetic, and I do not always have high blood pressure. Although the medications I take for pcos control both blood pressure and regulate blood sugar. I'd love to hear any input ya'll might have about this. Today started my journey, and I truly appreciate all of the advice I can get along the way. Thank you

I totally feel your pain! Friejenn! I think your surgeon's office will know exactly what to say to them to get it approved. Don't give up! I keep having to tell myself the same thing, but I know if it's meant to happen, it will.

What your look forward for?

I am looking forward to being able to bend over and tie my shoes without getting winded. Wearing clothes without having to cram myself into spanx just to get them to zip. I am looking forward to wearing real jeans that zip up and don't have the word stretch in them. Most of all, I am ready to be able to keep up with my kids. -
Hello Everyone, I am 5'3 and 225 pounds. My BMI is forty. I want to feel better, I am so tired of failing at every attempt of dieting. I have 2 children that I want to live a long healthy life for. I have been told by so many people that it is really hard to get Cigna to cover WLS. People also keep telling me that I am not "big enough" for WLS. It's so disheartening to be told that there is no way I am going to be able to get Cigna to cover my surgery. I am so new to this, and really looking forward to getting any advice I can get about how to go about getting everything covered. Thank you
