    And now there is one!

    December 17th. so excited!
  2. Congrats! You look great!
  3. You look fantastic! Great job.
  4. I had talked to my previous PCP about WLS and was going to start the process. When I moved and got a new doctor I brought it up with the nurse on my first appointment. I guess she didn't convey what I said to him. I told my new doctor how I have been yoyoing my whole life and was just stuck and was starting to have joint pain.. he simply told me to walk. (Even though I told him I do yoga and have en elliptical). Needless to say I was so disappointed. I thought he was against surgery. My next appointment I talked to him directly about eveything and he was so eager to help and do anything he could to make it happen for me. Just make sure when you so decide to tell your PCP you want it, know you want it. Do research and be prepared to show your knowledge. And if you are still toying around with the idea, ask for his help. See if they have a program at your PCP's office. Also knowing what your insurance requires for surgery is a good place to start. You can be working on supervised diet visits while deciding what you want to do.

    RNY December 14'

I'm having an RNY Dec 17th.
  7. So excited! I got my insurance approval today. Just waiting for my surgeon's office to call so I can schedule my surgery. Very good day.
  8. Got my surgery date today. December 17th. Eeeeek! So awesome. Can't wait to look the way I feel. And have enough energy to keep up with my 2 yr old.
  9. I just got my lab work back and found out I am Vitamin D and Iron deficient. I have always been on the low side for iron, but this is the first time I have heard about the vitamin d. All I have to do is get a letter from my PCP approving my for surgery before I can submit to insurance. I was hoping to have surgery next month. Will my deficiencies put it on hold? They didn't tell me how low I was, but I have started bariatric advantage multi, iron, and my surgeon just prescribed the vitamin D. Anyone have this happen to them? How long did it take to get your levels ready for surgery? Thanks.
  10. For as long as I can remember I have always had a faster than average pulse. With recent years and of course, continuing weight gain, it has increased. My average is 95bpm. When I am stressed or at the doctor's office it is usually up around 120. Has anyone had this? And has WLS helped it at all?

    Tachycardia

Hiya Lisa. When I was middle and high school it was around 80bpm. When I was in the military they checked it out and said I was fine. No irregular beat found. My blood pressure is usually 116/75. Even when I was pregnant I maintained my blood pressure. Just always had the fast pulse. I don't know why. I find that when I am in better shape, it lowers, but not by much. I will ask my doctor about seeing a cardiologist the next time I see him. Thanks for the reply. And I have freaked out a new doctor before too, not that bad though. But your story made me laugh. glad to hear that your losing weight has helped some. I do plan on doing everything I can to better myself, definitely including exercise with my limits. (I have a heart rate monitor for exercise)

    I did it!

    Exciting! Congrats.

    Tachycardia

I'm not seeing one. I've always had a fast pulse and none of my doctors have ever said anything about it.
  14. Thanks for all the feedback. I picked up my Rx today. My doc has me taking 50000 iu pills 3 times a week. I think it may be a little excessive but I don't think too much vitamin D will hurt me, especially with how much I've been inside from all the rain we have been having.
  15. Awesome. Thanks for the quick response. Glad you aren't getting delayed by it.

    Needs Encouragement

I think everybody knows complications can happen, they just never expect them to happen to them. I am sorry that you are one of the few to get any. I am just starting on my journey and very much appreciate people like you telling your story, the good, the bad, the ugly. Hearing it all makes it feel more real, and makes me weigh my decision that much more. I hope you have a speedy recovery and feel better soon. I look forward to seeing you continue on your journey. ~Jen
  17. That is exciting! Congrats and happy birthday. best of luck on the rest of your journey.
  18. Congrats! Keep us informed.
  19. I don't think I ever had a "fat nickname" but my dad (step) and mom always had me on whatever diet they were on from middle school on. I was the middle of 5 kids including step siblings and was the only "fatty", and was constantly reminded of it. I would get sung to.. "this magic moment" whenever I would actually enjoy my food in front of my family.. which led to closest eating and emotional eating. I was also told that I had to chose between being "fat and happy" (which could never really happen when being constantly told you are overweight) or " gorgeous/thin and a bitch" (from being hungry all the time). Looking back I was heavier than my siblings, but by maybe 10-15 lbs. I still have a distorted body image.
  20. I am in a very similar boat. Hope all goes well for you. We recently pcs'd, but as a recruiter, so having to deal with the civilian side of it all. My new pcm told me to just walk.. even after I told him I use my elliptical, do ddpyoga, have been to a nutritionist and all the other jazz. Some people, even doctors just don't get it. Good for you for changing doctor's and moving forward.
  21. That's awesome. Tough works. I have no problem with waiting 3, 6, or however long. Just as long as I know the process is getting started and in good hands. I was talking to my old doctor about this and the next step was surgery. Right when we got to that point, we moved (husband is military) now we are in a new area with only civilian doctors and it is just an adjustment for me. I told my new doctor everything that had happened, how much I eat, the nutritionist, exercise (which consists of my elliptical, ddpyoga, and other random activities) my new doctor just told me to walk and said nothing about surgery or giving my a consult to a bariatric surgeon. I personally think he is against WLS and won't submit anything to my insurance, that is why I was wondering who does what.
