  1. My weight gain journey began in May, 2013. I was exposed to black mold a few months prior in our master bathroom of a house we had just purchased. Unaware of it of course. May 2013, I had to have half of my right lung removed. After the lung removal I was forced to take nine months of oral steroids. During this nine months I gained another person in weight. September 2014, I was well enough to finally have the sleeve done. I tried to lose the weight on my own but anyone who has been on steroids for that length of time knows it is nearly impossible. I have since lost that extra person I gained. And couldn't be happier. The first picture was taken by my surgeon the week before surgery. The second picture was taken last week. My starting weight at surgery time was 222. My current weight is 125, as of this morning. I am 5'4 1/2.
  2. I had the sleeve. And thank you very much.
  3. I had the sleeve. Didn't have any excess skin. I started working out six weeks from surgery. Husband put in a full gym In our home for me. He worked out with me. No skin removal. Didn't need it apparently because I started so soon. I only work out four days a week now. But consistent. My best exercise is our pool. I started that the week after surgery. I get in pool daily. Best thing ever.
  4. Thank y'all so much. So self conscious. But I did it. And it was amazing.
  5. Yikes. First bathing suit of the year. Bbq tonight with friends. I'm actually excited about it.
  6. First pic was taken just before surgery sept 2014. Second picture me today. Starting weight 222 wearing a size 16 jean. Today weighing in at 126 and wearing a size 0.
  7. Since my journey began in September 2014 I set a goal to run a 5k. I accomplished that goal yesterday. Finishing the 5k in 26 minutes. I began my journey at 222 pounds. pounds.
  8. I paid 12,100 no financing. I'm in Texas.
  9. I have a desk job. I had my surgery on a Thursday. Went back to work the following Monday. Zero complications other than feeling a little tired. That's it.

My win for today. I hit my GOAL this morning. Surgery last week of September 2014. Starting weight was 222. This morning stepped on scale for first time in a month. BAM! 124.8. Goal was 125. Weight I was when I got married 11 years ago.

Do you really need a hospital buddy?

My surgery was outpatient. Arrived at 6 am. Surgery at 7 am. Discharged at 5 pm. But if I had to stay I would have been fine alone. The nurses were amazing.
  12. My doctor just asked me this question last Friday. I TOTALLY see the skinny me now. I let that fat chick that I once was go around month 6. I'm on month 14 now. Starting at 222 and now at 135 I love mirrors again. And selfies. Lol. And the new wardrobe. Boy oh boy I could go on and on.

    Hair falling out!

It happens sadly. But it does stop as quick as it starts. Mine started around month 4. But by month 6 it was done. I lost hair, yes. But it wasn't so bad that anyone else noticed it but me and my hairdresser.
  14. It's right around the corner. I had my surgery within two weeks of my first appointment, and like you, thought the day would never arrive. Longest two weeks of my life. Best of luck to you. You will be happy you chose this surgery. Best thing I have ever done for myself.
