Alcohol as a social activity / Cash pay patients
Yankee_Girl replied to joshwah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
In regards to the drinking, I think it depends on the person. I have had a few drinks since surgery. Mostly wine and rum w/juice. The effect has not been any diffrent from before surgery. I am midful off calories. If I know I'm going to indulge I count those calories. Good luck w/ surgery. =) -

I am about 9wks post op and I did feel depression after surgery. Especially the second wk. It got better a little at a time. Going back to work helped me tons. It's alot to go through physical, but also mentally and emotionally. Hang in there it will get better. =)

How did you settle on a goal?
Yankee_Girl replied to roundisashape's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was the same way. That was one of the first a questions I was asked by the doctor. Like you I have always been fluffy. =) I had no idea. My response was I want to be healthy. The doctor wanted a goal set so I knew what I was working towards. So, she helped me decide based on hight and body structure. We came up with 160. I was ok with that a little scared, but ok. I have been below 200 since I was a kid. =) -
I am 2wks post op and I have started getting horrible back acne. I have never really had any not even as a teen. I have had a few pimples on my face, but the back is horrible. Has anyone else experienced this post op?

I am so sorry for your experience with the surgeon. He is obviously not the right doctor for you. Their are many more out there and you should not settle. Find someone that makes you feel confident. Our providers are a huge part of our journey. If they don't make us feel comfortable, they are not the right one. Know that you have worked your butt off for your body. Don't let someone else belittle that hard work. Best of luck. -

In taking air?!?!? HELP!
Yankee_Girl replied to Yankee_Girl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you. Now I know it's not just me. Has it improved for you at all? -
I'm 8 days post op. About 4 days ago I started getting gas pain when I eat or drink. Burping helps, but I feel like I'm feeling w/more are than nutrition. I'm having a really hard time getting all my protein and fluids in. My Dr. thinks that I am some how in taking air when I eat. I have no idea how. I'm eating w/a baby spoon, taking small sips, I'm eating slowly and absolutely no straws. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, how long did this last and what helped?

When do I eat?!?!?!
Yankee_Girl replied to Yankee_Girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was given all that info by my NUT. I was on clear liquids 2nd day post op. 3rd day they moved me to full liquids. I am on full liquids for 2wks. I eat pudding, oatmeal and mashed potatoes really runny. Creamed soup. Protein shakes. Every doc is diffrent in regards to phases. Good luck on surgery. -
SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
Yankee_Girl replied to Rovobay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on 9/17. I was in the hospital for 2 1/2 days. Everything went well. I had no nausea thank god. I did have some pain right out of the OR, but they got it under control quick. I still can't get all my protein or fluids in. It takes me for ever to finish anything. My only issue is the tiredness. Omg, I walk and I feel like I ran a marathon. I hope everyone has a speedy and uneventful recovery. =) -
When do I eat?!?!?!
Yankee_Girl replied to Yankee_Girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much for the insight. I'm currently on full liquids. I'm suppose to have my 3 meals and shakes in between. That just seems like way much. After 2oz I start burping and get gas discomfort in my chest. I have to walk after everything I take in. How long did you guys have gas discomfort if any? -
I am 3 days post op. Feeling good, small amount of discomfort, but overall good. My problem is I'm not hungry and when I do eat I don't get a full feeling or maybe I do, but don't recognize it. Will this change? I'm having a hard time getting all my fluids in. I can get in 2 oz at a time. I'm freaked out about not recognizing the full feeling. I don't want to cause a leak by over doing it.

It's 230 am here and I'm good. I had some pain right out of the OR, but they managed it quick. I have been up twice since 5pm. All in all it's not as bad as my mind had made it out to be. Moving and walking is your Best friend. =) I will keep posting updates. =)

Hi, I am having VSG on Sept. 17th in Goshen, IN. I start my pre-op diet on Wed. I am freaking out a little. I was at the store today getting things for pre op diet and it hit me. While I was standing there holding a bag of broccoli. It was my OMG! moment. I looked over at my husband and freaked out a bit. I am so excited for this new journey, but surgery is the scary part for me. Has anyone else had a freak out?
