I laughed too, but then realized that it actually means Risk for premature death, but it sure was funny reading it as having to die before getting approved for WLS.

Possible reaction to numbing medicine. Could be a coincidence and could be from something unrelated like change in laundry detergent, soap etc. Also, did the Dr put a bandaid on the injection spot. Could be reaction to type of glue? I know I developed a rash from the bandaid over the port site and had a nasty looking rash.

I drank 2-3 Protein shakes and ate a Smart Ones, Lean Cuisine etc that was <200 calories with at least 15g Protein. That was what the nutritionist recommended based on my personal situation. I work 7 days a week and just do not have time to cook a healthy meal so that TV dinner was my one meal of the day. Good luck!!

So I have been in bandster hell since about one week post op. I had the band placed on August 27, 2014. I went to the doctor this past Monday and was feeling so discouraged and disgusted I had kept my weight the same, but I had not lost any. I got a fill. He only put in 0.75 cc which brings me too a little over 4 cc out of a 10 cc band. It is working. I am now feeling full on the amount that was recommended to eat. I really have to learn to control my emotional hunger because it is so easy at night to grab a slider food. Does this get any easier on differentiating real hunger from those emotional hunger? I just hope that it stays like this because until Monday I was hungry all the time and could eat whatever I wanted in large amounts with no issues.

Frustrated at the small fills. Whats the Norm?
Jencathen replied to Thrillrod's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have only had one fill and he put in 1 cc. I am going back next week and will ask for another fill. I am not sure of the max amount of the band I have. I will find out. I'm sure I was told, but it just didn't stick. -

I'm really hating bander hell. My next appointment is on 11/10 and I am going to ask for another fill. I feel so frustrated and defeated. The whole I'm a failure mindset and why can't I control my eating. -
I was hoping to get the $25 deal also, but they ended up not taking either of my insurances so I switched to the mail order pharmacy for the B-12 and it is $50 for 3 month supply. The other vitamins I get from Bariatric Advantage

I am using Nascobal and I do not find it anymore effective then the sublinguals that I used to get so when my 90 day supply is up, I'm going to save myself the huge copay and just go with the sublinguals.

Why I am choosing not to share my WLS with the world.
Jencathen replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
I didn't share it just like I don't share most of my medical issues with people. Also, I don't need to explain myself to anyone. I'm a 41 year old adult and if I am perfectly capable of making a decision and do not need or want to hear about your cousin's second cousin twice removed that died. So, I have spared myself the inevitable conversation where I tell them I'm a nurse and know how to research and have done so for 2 years prior to my decision and any procedure has the risk of death. The couple of people I did tell after I was asked directly pretty much reminded me why I don't volunteer information. But at the end of the day... each individual has the right to disclose or not disclose that information. There is no right or wrong answer, just personal preference. -

The gastric sleeve is not a healthier choice. As a cancer patient, it is harder on your system and you absolutely need something reversible in case of coming out of remission. -

Post op, pre first fill, SUPER hungry!?
Jencathen replied to malps0929's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm the same too. I feel ravenous all the time. I had an appointment yesterday to get my first fill, but then because of some recent cardiac events, I was told no and to follow-up next week after cardiologist visit if I'm cleared. I was so disappointed. I already spoke with my PCP who felt that it was fine. I know it's better to be safe than sorry, but I'm just tired of being hungry all the time. I will take the suggestions though in this thread and see if that helps. Thankfully, through shear will power alone I haven't regained all the pounds that I lost. -
Anyone Banded After Cancer?
Jencathen replied to loggerswife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My Dad has CLL so I'm very familiar with both types. I didn't have any issues. My immune system is still not as strong as a normal persons despite being in Complete Remission for several years. I took antibiotics to prevent infection and other than that it was no different for me then it was for anyone else. I had my surgery on a Wednesday and was back at work the following Tuesday. How are your husband's counts? That would be the main concern. Like any surgery there are always possibilities of infection, hemorrhage, respiratory depression etc. My concern would be what is his H&H, Platelets, WBC. You wouldn't want him to have surgery if he is at a higher risk due to low counts on any of those. As far as affecting his condition, it should not do that. I'm under the assumption that his appetite is good. My Dad has lost 50 to 60 lb as he doesn't have an appetite and I have to make him eat. His oncologist would be his best bet to let you know how your husband stands medically wise to undergo an invasive procedure. Good Luck and feel free to ask me anything
