    Going Nuts...waiting

Good for you, I couldn't have said it better. I think exercise actually lower my eating, and I feel full sooner. I walk 16-20 kms weekly, and work out with a trainer (you don't want to know what I call him) and I'm feeling great. Before banding I didn't even walk to the mail box, this tool has given me a new lease on life, and I'm working so hard with it and really enjoying it. Good luck, and I loved your post. I read a lot of the "band is not working", people have to realize you have to work with it.
  2. Why no steak, I eat a small portion of steak, if its cut very small and tender should this not be ok?

I would talk to your dr, is there a leak? something sounds off. I would do this right away. good luck

    Pain when you eat?

did you drink water at the fill appointment. I went for my first fill last week, and could not get water down. They did an unfill right there, and removed .5cc, and now 5 days later am fine. I have the same problem, if I eat too fast or drink too fast. I think you might need an unfill if you are following the rules. good luck and let us know how you are doing.
  5. I'm down 31? pounds, and 24" inches total.
  6. I went to my doctor on friday, she said my port area is not infected. I went to nw fills in arlington wash, on Monday and they said "oh my, you have an infection" they perscribed medicine and I got my fill. Thank god my port was below the cut. I can't believe my canadian gp doctor could not tell. I have 3 holes, and puss after 6 1/2 weeks post op. the good news is I am down 26" total overall in measurements, and down 31 pounds since surgery. I am still walking 16 kms weekly and work out with a trainer 2x week. its so hard, I'm wearing a sweat band, like the 80's. anyway I am so glad I did this, and am working hard to get around the head hunger, so far so good. donna

3 weeks out & eating like a horse!

no, I eat normal, must have a small bowl of soup then my regular dinner. also usually soup (homemade) with kidney beans, vegies, and onion. I had a fill (my first today) and am again on clear for 2 days. it seems to be working for me. I also walk 16 kms a week, and train at the gym 3 times a week.

    diet disaster since Easter

I would not drink Water or anything to get more food down. the band is a tool not a cure, and one must change their eating habbits to make this work. I don't mean to be this blunt, but we have to pick up and keep going. we did not gain all this weight in weeks, or months, and it takes a lot of will power to achieve our goals. try having a soup before you eat, it works for me most of the time. P.S. I did fall off the program and had chips last night. I did not even eat these before the band, I could kick my self today, but am moving on. good luck with your fill, and remember its a tool, not a cure.

3 weeks out & eating like a horse!

Hope this helps. when I go out for dinner or even at home, I have a bowl of soup, with lots of vegies and broth, and no bread and then my dinner. start on the protien first then the vegies, and hopefully you will have no room for the rest. It works for me.

  12. I know this is a stupid Queston. I drink a lot of water to begin with at least 12 glasses a day. I also drink a lot of caffee free herbal tea. Does this qualify as water? Thanks for any input for my questions.

    Getting enough Calories?

I'm in the same boat as you. I have trouble eating the 1200 calories, for breakfast I have a yorgort(spelled wrong) 90 cal for lunch (today sushi) about 900 cal. but normally soup with about 120 cal. for dinner (kids were really bad (12 and 11) girls. need I say more. Dinner ended about 50 cal in. I'm finding that even without a fill, stress does cause my band to tighten or something. I'm still finding that I'm not starving, (work out daily with a 4 km walk and the gym), and am putting off a fill, until I eat more. I'm finding that late at night I am hungry, and usually have a diet pudding to eat. I'm still working on eating more.

    Chocolate Anyone?!

I was weak at easter and ate a bad for you treat, I felt really bad, but got back on the program right away. I have the low cal moose or jello instead now. it sure helps.
  15. I didn't have to have the pre opt diet, but have been following the band rules, and am looking forward to a fill in 2 weeks. banded feb 29th/08

    Gained a pound on mushies

you are doing great, its not expected to loose until after your first fill. Have you been walking? it really helps, also try some soup, knor has a really good vegie soup, thats really filling and low in cal.
  17. I was banded feb 29th, by Dr Kuri in Mexico. I am down approx 21 pounds since. I do follow the band rules, and walk about 20 kms a week. I heard that you won't feel restriction until your first fill. If I eat too fast, I ping, if I eat too much I ping, I also have a 9.75 band. I think I'm restricted and really don't know if I should have a fill at the 6 weeks post op. any else have restriction at this early stage of banding. I'm not complaining I love the weight loss, etc, but I don't know about a fill if in fact I am restricted. thanks donna
  18. donnabarney

    restriction 3 weeks post op?

how did you do that, it fantastic, did you do a lot of walking, and watching what you eat? I walk about 20 kms a week, and I down 23 pounds, and go for a fill in april. wihout the walking I would not have done so good.
  19. I have a 9.75 band that holds 4cc's. I think there are a few different types.
  20. the band is way cheaper in mexico, than the sleeve. and I know that over 300 is fine there. check it out. I'm 3 weeks post op and so glad I did this. remember its a tool and not a fix though, you will have to work with it. good luck

    Just got Back

I found it hard at easter dinner the turkey, etc. I had really small portions of each and it went fine. I stoped before the signs and it turned out good. its got to be a bit of mind over hunger.
  22. donnabarney

    Still Hungry

its going to be mind over food. try stoping at first sign of trouble, and see what happens. good luck

    24 hours post banding

did you get a fill, right after banding? I thought that you had to heal and it would be about 6 weeks before fill?
  24. 1 week post op. 12 pound gone, but I walked 14kms this week. and really watching the post diet.
  25. donnabarney

    No Caffeine, why?

I think because with less food you will feel the effects more and they are empty cal.
