  1. you are doing great, it was an inspiration to read your post. I too had a wake up call. on planes the seat belt was at its limit. 5 more pounds and I would have had to have a seat belt extender. I also quit having baths, as it was too hard on the knees and legs to get in and out. The band has given me a new life, and the gym has been great. I can now ride my bike and now go to the gym with my 11 and 13 year old. Life is turning out to be great.
  2. first off, you are doing great. put the scale away, and only weigh once a week at the same time of day. take measurements. your body is going through changes, and now loosing will happen, and then one week you will loose a few. keep in mind that 1-2 pds a week is a healthy way to loose weight. I was worried about loosing too fast in the start of my band life, and now 1 pound every 2 weeks is ok. it slows down as the weeks fly past. working out is great, it will reduce the chance of surgery after a large weight loss. I will end up loosing 100 pounds and will not require surgery, as I work out 5-6 days a week with weights, and cardio. good luck, and enjoy the ride.

  4. I went 12 weeks without a fill, I have now had 3 fills, 2cc in a 4cc band, and I think I won't need one. when I had my band I actually has .5cc of fill in (when they tested it at the manufacture), and things have worked out fine. look for a dr close or a fill center, and it will be there when you need it. good luck.
  5. I did the same thing, but was really sick, it happened about 14 weeks after surgery. just get right back on the band wagon, and good luck.
  6. I was with another family on saturday. we were a function together. I was with my mom, and then put on my sun glasses and followed them. I called out to my friend to wait for me. her husband said "who is the skinning women". I felt so great. I was heavy for 15 years and thanks to my band and my trainer at the gym I am only 20-30 pounds and from my goal in 7 months. I think that having a trainer if you can afford it, (I don't eat out any more and save that money for my trainer), has been the best thing that has happened to me. I'm also duing the grouse grind on saturday, again for the 5th weekend in a row with my trainer and my kids. its 2900 stairs up the mountain, and amost 2 miles straight up and takes me 1 hour and 20 min. I'm still having a problem with thinking that I am still obese, and wonder who that person in the mirror is. I'm hoping that by the one year I can work around that. anyway just wanted to let someone know how it is going.

    Fill vs. aggressive fill

that sounds really strange. for one thing the floro (xray) is not healthy to expose your self too often. a normal fill is fine, and only use the xray if there are problems. what kind of band will you have? a 10cc or a 4cc. one thing I have learned is that you don't want an aggressive fill, as it can tighen after a few days and then you will be sick. a little at a time is good and better than risking your band or having an unfill. I have 2cc in my 4cc band, and so far have been doing really good. good luck
  8. I too have not had bread or many carbs. good for you. keep up the great work.
  9. great for you, you have shown us that this can be done. the exercise is great too. good luck, and I am so proud of you.

    Port sticking out

mine is bottom left, and now it hurts a bit during sit ups etc. and i can feel it without pocking. does this mean I should have it moved. I have lost a lot of weight, and the port is my only problem so far.

    weight gain???

do you work out at all, walk or bike, this will really help. If you are then you will loose inches and maybe not pounds. good luck
  12. I am 6 months post op and have lost 70 pounds. I am eating a lot and might need a fill. I exercise 6 days a week, working out at a gym. I think excersise is the key. I am tight on my tummy and arms but have a bit of baba butt. I'm working on it. I'm really happy with my weight loss so far, but could not have done it without working out. I have to keep reminding my self that the band is a aide not a cure.

    grouse Grind

I have been training for 4 months. I finally with the help of my trainer did the grouse grind in vcr bc. I took 1:45 min, thought I would die, but like child birth, am going to try again nextweek. I am really lucky to have a personal trainer (2xweek) and go on my own 4 days a week. Grouse is a 35% grade, 2.9 km up the moutain. also nsv, I went dancing that night, a people that have not seen me since my surgery, did not know me. I feel great!
  14. I too had restriction, at my first fill, they found .5 cc in my band. the nurse said they might have tested it before sending it to dr's. it takes time for healing, you might take longer than most. good luck, and don't look a gift horse in the month.
  15. I've been banded since feb 29. I work out about 5-6 days a week at the gym I went camping with my sister. she has a comfort bike. I went today and bought one. I love it, I rode it home 45 min. I'm hoping this will get my weight loss going again. it has slowed the last 2 months. I'm loving my band. I'm loving my gym I'm loving my bike. its hard work, but the lifesytle change has changed my life.

    I love my band!!!!

its a bike with a large seat, and high handle bars, it even has a basket for shoping that snaps off. I love it. name of manufacter is "giant" its light weight, and handles really good. I have not riden a bike for over 20 years and started with my sisters last week. today I went for 2 bike rides, the seat and handle bars are really easy on the back and knees. You have done great with your band. we are almost at the same weight loss. its hard work but worth it.

    Excess skin anyone?

good luck on your surgery. I'm down about 60 pounds with 40 more to go. I have not had the loose skin as I drink a ton of Water, and exercise hard 5-6 days a week. I think the excerise does the best at avoiding loose skin. My arms are muscle and fine, my legs are toned from the gym and stairmaster. try the excerise as soon as you can. I think I started walking the week after. p.s. before surgery I could not get off the ground if I was sitting. I also did not walk even to the mail box, my knees were so bad. today and I can walk 5 miles and bike 1 hour. I'm actually going to scottland for a mild bike tour next year. good luck and remember the band is a tool, not a cure.
  18. you are doing great. 800 calories a day is pretty low. your body will think its starving and not burn fat. you will need about 1200 calories a day and some excerise. I eat great during the day, and work out etc. its at night that I sometimes wish I could eat. I'm still working on this. good luck.

    three-week plateau

i"m in the same boat. try eating the japanese beans, there are at costco and are 100 cal, and very filling. it helps for me. good luck
  21. I hope you are joking? did you really eat this.?
  22. I too tought I had restriction. as it turns out on my first fill I had already .5 fill in by error, not from dr but from medial facility that tested them. I have a 9.75cc band by dr kuri. I am 4 months banded and love it. I work out daily and work hard for my weight loss, and am very pleased so far with my trainer and my band. good luck

    nsv

I went to a party last night. some people I have not seen in 6 months. I felt great. My good friend has a new harley, and last time I saw him, we wanted to go for a ride. we both were over the weight limit. he has lost 65 pounds and I'm around 55 pounds. we are going riding next week. it was great to be able to fit in a size 16 again. good luck :grouphug:
  24. you have done well for the weight you have lost. everyone is diffent. are you exercising? this will help speed things along. good luck. don't weigh your self, take measurements and if you weight only weigh once a week.
  25. i smoke very rare, as I quit drinking feb 28th, when I go to see a live band, I like the buz, I find that if i drink a lot of Water, I won't get munchies. bring the japanse peas 100 cal per box about 30 in a box, this helps me with mushies. good luck
