    2 days Post-Op

Probably need to start the clear liquid diet, and start trying to take in up to 50oz of liquid a day. I hope this helps you start. Oh yeah, walking.

    Anyone tried won ton wrappers?

I am looking forward to your update - -
  5. Good afternoon everybody. I had my one week check up. They took my staples out. I was expecting pain, but I didn't even realize she was doing it until she said it was done. My incisions are healing real well. They put "surgical strips" over my incisions, and it feels great having those staples removed. I moving from liquid diet to the full liquids diet, and I'm feeling real good about the decision to do this operation and be in this process. The best is yet to come!!!!! :-) :-). Have a great day November buddies :-)

    SUPPORT NEEDED!

Good morning Jonathan. Done and it was mutually beneficial. I'm going to look into buying one of the wireless zips to track my activity. Thanks Brother!! :-) :-)
  8. I had my surgery on November 4th. I'm willing to be a surgery buddy, but I don't know how to do it on the site. I'm happy to hear that your recovery is going well :-) :-). New Jeffrey.
  9. My two hardest adjustments so far has been the gas pains and trying to get my liquids in without getting nauseous and/or painfully full. I've been walking a lot to relieve the gas and its worked, along with the "joy" of several bowel movements :-). However if I drink my fluids to fast, then the abdominal pain comes back. I'm getting close to 50 ounces a day, but that's due to drinking water from 5:00am - 11:30pm. I get tired from walking so that includes a 3 hour nap in the afternoon. Tomorrow will be one week out from surgery and I can definitely notice that each day gets better!! :-). I hope this helps and feel free to ask anymore questions.
  10. Dabliss you got a lot of issues going on around you along with what I believe will be a life transforming day in your life tomorrow. I'll be praying for you, your father-in-law, and your husband. It may sound selfish, but I'm going to say it anyway. You are about to undergo a major surgery tomorrow. You've helped take care of everyone else in your life to the best of your ability, right up until hours before your surgery. NOW focus on you. Try to get some rest tonight. Write down and read several goals you want for you through tomorrow's surgery. Hey!! Get in a good cry tonight. You've been going through a whirlwind of emotions. Then get up tomorrow morning and begin the next new phase of your life!!! Your November buddies got your back. Good night. Grace and peace. New Jeffrey.
  11. Darcie and Ready 2B I'm praying for you guys!! Please keep us updated on your status.

    Post op

Good morning Happy Mama. For me it was the gas. I walked three times in the morning, three times in the afternoon, and three times in the evening. I had my surgery on November 4th, and I came home on November 6th. It wasn't until Friday the 7th that I began passing gas and it was great!!! :-). Yesterday the 9th I had a bowel movement and I almost cried due to the joy!!! :-) :-). So for me that was the key to relief. The only discomfort now is from the staples, which pull at my skin. Also sitting upright with my feet on the floor helped with passing gas. It gets better. Hang in there!!! :-)

    It finally happened!

Congratulations and I know you will do great!!!!! :-)

    Pre-Op Diet

Hey hang in there L dimples. You will be so happy if you do and so will your surgeon. The surgeon's job is easier if your liver shrinks and you lose fat around your abdominal cavity. Just keep your goals in sight and take it one minute at a time, if necessary. I found that when I thought that I might break my fast, then I'd drink a liter of water and wait 30 minutes. If I was still hungry, then I'd eat. I never ate and I never broke my fast. You can too!!! :-)

    November Surgery Date!

Diyana I can't overemphasize the need to stick religiously to your pre operation diet. It will help your surgeon immensely. Also walking. It will hurt but focus in your goals for a healthier lifestyle. I'm home basically 60 hours post operation and I just took five laps around my home ( Not a big home) but getting up and moving on your own when no one is around is going to help you. Therefore, walk in the hospital where you have help. At the minimum do it three to four times a day. Morning, afternoon, evening, and then right before bedtime. I'll be praying for you. Best regards. New Jeffrey.

    November Surgery Date!

Thank you Verina. Anyone who says that this is the easy way out is just ignorant. I've set an alarm to go off every 4 hours so that I can get up and walk (It hurts to get up and sit down), take liquid pain medication, and get a 3 ounce cup of water. So its 4am right now. Not easy.

    November Surgery Date!

I had my Gastric Bypass operation at Cooper University Hospital in Camden New Jersey. I had it on Tuesday afternoon (November 4th.) And I just got home about 30 minutes ago. Besides marrying my wife Annette, and the birth of our three children, its the best moment in my life.
  18. I watched Netflix during my two week liquid diet. No commercials.
  19. You know it's weird. I thought that I was asking a dumb question when I asked if it would be liquid. They ordered me a very small pill and then they showed how to take it with a sip of water. I did it and that's what I am using a 30 day supply. They gave two reasons as justification. First was cost. The liquid brand with my insurance cost three times as much and considering that I may only use it for a week (My follow up appointment is next week). Secondly the pharmacy couldn't get me the liquid brand until Monday and they wanted me on it as soon as possible. I just got home. I walked three laps around the house. I sat down and took my liquid Tylenol 3 with Codeine, and I'm going to watch a movie on Netflix. It's been a great week!!!!! :-)
  20. I'm going home at 5pm today. I'm drinking 4 ounces of fluid and getting my walking in. I've been taken off of my diabetes and cholesterol meds. I'll only be taking my blood pressure meds for now. This is awesome!!!
  21. Maybe you don't need it? I noticed from this site that there are alot of variations in how doctors do this. I'm glad I got the results I did with the 2 week liquid diet, and I'm praying that you get great results without it.

    November Surgery Date!

So I'm getting discharged in a couple of hours. I can't emphasize the importance of the 2 week liquid diet. My Doctor said that my liver shrunk well but that the fat around it was out of his way, which made his job easier. Moreover, my skin in my belly area was tighter which made his stapling job easier. They're already stopping my diabetes medication and my cholesterol meds. This was one of the best decisions that I ever made in regards to my health!!! :-)
  23. Good morning. So I'm looking at being discharged sometime today. The reason that they want me to be able to drink 4 ounces an hour is to make sure that when I get home I will not get dehydrated. They are pumping fluids into me now, but that will end when I get home. I've been fortunate. No shoulder or neck pain. I've been walking around the ward without help. The only thing holding me up is that my blood pressure got elevated and they're trying to get it down. I can't over emphasize the importance of the two week liquid diet. My Doctor said he did a woman yesterday who cheated, and he couldn't do her surgery with the robotic arm. He had to cut her open, which makes recovery longer and more painful. I'm truly excited!!! I'm not hungry at all. I can't wait to start learning my pouch and diving into a healthier lifestyle.
  24. Hey 4th of November people!!! I'm sitting here drinking this tasteless unsweetened tea, but the wetness feels good in my mouth. The Doc came about an hour ago. He says that my white blood count is high. He wants to make sure that it's not from an infection, else wise everything is great. I'm already up to 2 ounces of fluid an hour. So pumped up for the future. Already the last two days have been awesome!!!
