mike_s started following Bowel Movement (maybe a bit TMI), Enough Calories??, How long did the gas last? and and 6 others
-
I think that's the idea. You'll lose a lot to start. Your body will burn fat to make up the difference. Eventually when you can eat solid foods you'll be where you're supposed to on regards to calories. Be prepared to be REALLY tired for a few months. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

How long did the gas last?
mike_s replied to monica8773's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 years out and I still get bad gas from time to time. I'd say the worst and most frequent happened maybe in the first 6 months to a year. As I'm writing this I have pretty bad gas. Since my wife and I both had gastric bypass, we make sure to have plenty of gas-x on hand. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk -

Pain after RNY surgery
mike_s replied to zallykatz16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Was yours laparoscopic? Mine was and the only pain I had was in my back from the massive hiatal hernia he had to repair before he could do my RNY. I do remember a month or so after I had awful gas pains. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk -

Exercise!?! What's that?
mike_s replied to Skinnycows's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to walk 2 miles a day. I used a FitBit after for about 2 weeks after I started getting more energy. I averaged about 6 miles a day just at work so I stopped wearing the FitBit and never really did much after. My weight had been stable at between 140 and 145 for 2 years. About a month ago I started going to the gym with wife. In the classes they start you off by running a mile. I am usually not out of breath or even broken a sweat. But I always feel better after I go no matter how tired I may be of how sore I am. Until you see your surgeon again, try walking as much as you can. I remember they had me up within a few hours after I woke up to walk around the hospital wing. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Post Surgery Tastebuds Changes: tell me yours
mike_s replied to GeTnBackuP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a little over 3 years out and some tastes have changed. French fries I can rest a very few so I just don't eat them really. Pizza I don't like as much and had to be thin and crispy crust. I am so tired of pain water so I get those sugar free flavorings you dump into the water bottles. I used to love good coffee but now it kills my stomach so I drink it very rarely. Also some spicy foods make me salivate a lot and I feel sick and sometimes vomit. I guess as far as real changes in taste, I don't think anything for me changed. After a few years I think you'll maybe add some things back in moderation. Just make sure you don't slide back into bad habits and start gaining weight back. -

Yup, I still get that way and I'm pretty sure it's due to not getting enough water. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Bruising after procedure
mike_s replied to monica8773's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bruise easily and if I remember correctly, I looked like that too. I'd just mention it at your next appointment. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

When do you typically STOP losing weight?
mike_s replied to Lulu_RNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just keeping doing what you're supposed to and you'll be fine. They wanted me to walk about a mile a day after. I work at a large school system and the summer I returned to work we were opening 3 new schools. I walked over 6 miles a day so I didn't really did any exercising either. I am now though Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk -

mike_s replied to Lulu_RNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stopped about 1 year out and then gained about 10lbs and have held that for 2 years. Each person is different so don't get discouraged. You're doing well. Some people plateau and some don't. Just keep doing what you're supposed to. Are you exercising like you're supposed to? Have you gotten to the stage where you're getting a lot of energy? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk -
