Gerd or gastritis before RNY surgery
mike_s replied to JohaAidenMommy's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You're going to have as you heal. My surgeon prescribed famotidine 20mg for about the first month. I still take it if I know something might upset my stomach like coffee or some medications like Mucinex. Have you talked to your surgeon about it at a follow-up? Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk -
I thought I was crazy. My nose starts to run too. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

I think you'll be fine. I overdid it about once a week for the first few months. The second week out I went to the gym with my wife and I caused 2 incisions to split open and started bleeding all over the place. One thing that I figured out was when I need to stop to eat or rest. -
YES! Knowing what I know now, I would pay for it myself if I didn't have good insurance.

It helped me since it was considered a comorbidity. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

Gerd or gastritis before RNY surgery

Gerd gone after. I would have had the surgery for just that reason. -
After a year I still have that.

When I started to actually feel hunger, gas, and pain, it was confusing as to what it actually was. Sometimes I felt like I might be hungry but it was actually gas. Sometimes I thought it was gas but was hunger. Also, like other have said, it may be in your head. I was so scared of dumping I didn't even try anything that had any bit of sugar for almost 8 months. After a year, I know my limits and know when I want something I know I shouldn't have, I have a little and go on. The nutritionist told us it would be normal to desire something from time to time and its OK as long as you don't do it all the time or go crazy.

I'm a year out and still get dizzy and lightheaded. My last appointment, all my blood work was perfect. I know now that it usually means I need to eat something. My wife had surgery about 9 years ago and she says she still gets it from time to time.

Recovery + Time Off Work

I was out for 2 weeks before I was ready. I did go in one day after a week out of boredom but left after a few hours due to being exhausted. -
I just started using it.
