  1. I was sleeved on 10/20, and I am down 50pounds, since surgery. My current weight is 230, and I am 5'11. I have started running. I joined the group cubicle to 5k. I run in intervals. I am currently at run 1 min, walk 30 seconds. I can do a lil over a 13 min mile. I have so much energy now. I am wearing a size 14/16. I have stopped tracking my food, and realize that is my issue so started back today, I know I have not been getting enough Protein in so working on consciously improving intake. I have also sucked at the Vitamins. I know I know....I have always been horrible with medicine, I have no idea what my final goal is but I do know I want to be under 200 pounds. I do wish I can see myself the way others do, I still see the fat girl. My running coach thought I was an athlete....lol! My boyfriend says my legs are muscular and those of an athlete, he said he would have wanted my legs when he played football.....I stare at myself and just can't see what they see.....I know there is a difference because all of my old clothes no longer fit. I just don't know how to get over this hurdle. Very proud of everyone's success!

    Memorial Day Challenge!

    My goal is 220!
  3. Thanks, I am working on embracing the new me. I bought two dresses with the hopes of one day wearing them, they looked way too small to me, but guess what they fit perfect! I went through my closet and removed three huge bags of clothes! I know I am a work in progress! You will be at the12 soon!!!
  4. Hello everyone. My surgery date was 10/20. My surgery weight was 282, this morning I weighed 232. My goal is to loose 40 more lbs. I am 5' 11". I have not pushed my self exercise wise, I know I can do more. I bought my first pair of size 16 jeans....no stretch! Wore them today, for the second time, and they are already getting loose! I have been horrible at taking my meds, I have to get better at that. It was great reading through the post and hearing how well everyone is doing. I do have one issue, I know I have lost the weight, because the scale says it, and my clothes says it, but when I look in the mirror I see the same person....I don't know how to see and allow my brain to register the new me! Is anyone else dealing with this?
  5. Jen I went back to work full time after 2.5 weeks. I have been exhausted, but fine. I am a coordinator at a hospital. A lot of walking back and forth, but not extremely stressful. Good luck!
  6. I will contact the nurse tomorrow to see what they suggest. Good luck with working out!!
  7. I was sleeved on 10/20 and weighed 281 morning of surgery today in weigh 257( I am 5' 11") I have lost 24 lbs so far. The last five days I have lost only about a pound. I was prepared to be stagnant the third week, based on the blogs so it did not stress me out. I started work last week. I was exhausted most afternoons. I plan to start the gym this week, at least a half hour a day. My struggle has been there is food in our office daily. I did not share with anyone the type of surgery that I had. They think it wAs somewhat emergency surgery. I have fixed a plate each time, moved the food around and then put the napkin over my plate. I am going to pack my lunch this week, I just am trying to avoid bringing attention to my eating. A few people commented on my weight loss, and I just responded with I was extremely nauseous after surgery, and minimal appetite, and I am going to try and keep the weight loss momentum going. Has anyone started working out in the gym?
  8. When I went for my two week post op, my surgeon did not look at mine either. I have no concerns about them. One has actually start to fade. But, I did think it was odd he didn't ask to see them. I was sleeved on 10/20, my first f/u was 11/5 and I was down 23lbs.

    Date change

I had my surgery yesterday, and so far so good. I am still inpatient. In recovery, I was in a lot of pain. Probably the worse ever. Gradually got better, but that was with me using the pca pump at my discretion. I was on liquid yesterday, and today started puréed type of food. My stomach hurts, but not hungry. I am still in denial that it's done......
  12. My surgery is in the morning. I have to be there at 530am. I am on clear liquids today. I think I am going to go to sleep early, to sleep off the hunger pains!

Ok, we just moved to Chicago, this past April. The fact that my surgery was an option, and now a reality makes this move even better!!! Wls surgery was not covered by my last company.

    How did you tell people?

I have chosen to only tell my boyfriend, who is my support person ( no family in Chicago), my mom, and one of my sisters. My close friends, would be supportive, as one of their husbands recently had it, and another one of our friends had it last year. I won't get Any questions(on my weight loss) , because i will not go home until Christmas, and nobody has seen me since April. As far as my coworkers, I have not told anyone, nor do I plan to. The Monday before I have my surgery I have preop, I plan on going to my apt. And then afterwards tell my supervisor, my doctor is scheduling me for surgery the following Monday. Not going to go into details. They are supportive, and I work with good people, but I am a private person, and don't want to talk about it. I don't want to be the ambassador for wls.
  18. I just was looking at my calendar and realized that this whole process was painless and quick, and from reading the stories I realized I am lucky! I started my journey on may7, with a visit to my pcp, asking for the referral to the bariatric dr. I then attended the info session, then my apt with the bariatric team, prep group, pcp apt, and then my surgery date was given to me August 27. I opted for a later date in October because we are going to Jamaica! I am praying the rest of my journey is this easy breazy!!!
  19. Chellede, it is soon! I am just keeping busy. I have a few trips before, and will be celebrating my 40th birthday, so hopefully before I know it, it will be 10/20!!!
