Am in Denton Texas and I used Dr. David Provost. I have liver disease stage 4 and he was still able to do the surgery where other drs wouldn't. He's an awesome Dr. And individual. He cares about how you are doing and has a life long manual to use for the rest of your life. The staff is awesome and they genuinely care also. Good luck to all of you. Sincerely Debra (Dabberdoo)

I like the crystal light that you squirt in your water bottle. I keep various favors on hand to mix it up a bit.

Initial Consultation Disappointment:(
dabberdoo replied to sleevedup's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I go by first impression if I don't like the dr I go else where. I was lucky and found mine on first appointment. I have liver disease so I had to choose wisely. But my dr is perfect his staff is awesome and would recommend him. If in north Texas area his name is Dr Provost. Good luck to you. -
Water, Vitamin Water ZERO. If unit doesn't say Zero than it's got 39 grams of carbs. Where the other one I think is 4 or 5. Those water flavorings you squirt in your water are good. 0 calories and 0 carbs. Good luck to you.

They don't want you to bring anything except your CPAP if you use one, and of course your phone and ipad. That's a given. Good luck to you. Dabberdoo (Debra))

If your in the Denton/dallas/ft worth area dr. Provost is a good one. I was majorly high risk also. Mortality rate was high but I believed in dr. Provost experience and all the prayers that got me thru it. I had no problems at all. Good luck to your husband. I'd make sure he has done the same kind of surgery as the disability your husband has. Good luck to you and your husband.

He said that this is the best thing for me. And not all drs will perform such a surgery. But with my pre op fluids for 2 weeks it as able to shrink what liver I have left and he was able to move it out of the way. I was terrified for the mortality rate was real high but I trusted my dr and had lots of prayers so I new it would be fine. He said he had done a couple before so I was glad of that experience he had. He is awesome and is saving my life. Filling his instructions but having problems with the water. Thank you for the prayers. Probably next year ( hopefully) will go on the list for a transplant. Now that scares me. Baby steps and drink your water! Lol. Thank you for your prayers they mean so much to me. Phase one over phase two next. Then happy birthday to me!!!! Dabberdoo

I'm bipolar ... if there's anyone out there that could tell me how to take my meds
dabberdoo replied to swtpea637's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am bipolar and take my meds in the morning for that. One pill down wait 10 minutes take another. You can take them with applesauce too if they are hard to get down. And some can be pretty good size. Just make sure they go down vertically or they will get stuck. Lol. Take care and good luck to you. -

Is the sleeve safe long term?
dabberdoo replied to Cutechiq10's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had to have the sleeve not just because of my weight but because I have liver disease. Cirrhosis stage 4. So to get on the transplant list I have to have a BMI of 40 or less. Meaning I have to loose 180 lbs. sleeved July 18th and have lost 35 lbs to date. Am in the real food stage and it's not coming off. Was loosing a pound a day. Now not so much. I keep getting headaches which I've never had before. One person on the forum said drink more Water. My liver disease has been going on for 10 years and called AIH. Jumped to stage 4 and didn't know I went thru stage 1-3. That's another story. So this surgery will hopefully help both of us. Good luck to you and the surgery isn't as bad as it sounds. The first three days are the roughest because it was a surgery. After that passes follow your drs instructions to the letter. And drink your water. Good luck to you. Sincerely Debra (Dabberdoo) -
What is everyone eating at the life long eating stage of the sleeve diet. I was sleeved on July 18th. Lost 35 lbs after surgery and up to this stage. Now nothing. I'm getting bad headaches and I normally do not get them. I'm hungry al the time. I eat all my protein and am having trouble with carbs. Carbs are in every thing. I use fitness pal to track my meals. I need more of a variety other than protein and vegetables and Benifiber. Where is the fiber in this diet. They tell me no cereal. I don't understand. Thanks for your responses. Debra

I too have been having terrible headaches. I am on the real food stage, stage 4. And ever since I went on it the right side of my head and knock hurt. I can count the number of headaches I've had over my life time on one hand. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I was sleeved on July 18th. First the stages went fine. Lost 35 lbs in a month. Now nothing. How are you dealing with the headaches. Thanks. And good luck to you. -
