No interest in food
The Candidate replied to coloradosnyder's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Can I ask a related question as I'm still post op? In regards to the loss of interest in food, changing taste buds, and sometimes difficulty getting in your Water and Protein quotas: how hard is it then to get in your Vitamins? And did you never stop taking vitamins going from a pre op to a post op, or did you stop vitamins just before surgery, and have or will at some point in the healing process, start taking them again? Thanks for your help! -
Gaining weight at year 3 post VSG, HELP????
The Candidate replied to mlfontan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
First off my heart goes out to you with such an extensive medical history, and chronic extreme pain. I can't imagine how agonizing it must be on a daily basis. There are so many contributing factors to your symptoms that's it's hard to say if a revision to a RNY would bring about the results you're hoping for. It's going to be a blind risk either way, with no guarantee of improvement. But I will say this. There are some who chose the sleeve and then started suffering severe GERD/reflux issues afterwards, who then revised to the RNY and experienced a marked improvement. I had never even known it was a possibility myself until reading the posts here. It's part of the reason why I switched my decision from sleeve to RNY myself. Which I'll be getting in a short while. Let me stress that GERD doesn't happen to everyone, but when it's *you*, I know you'd do anything to get away from its devastating effects. It is not a pleasant way to live. I hope whatever you decide in the end that it brings you the answer you are seeking. Good luck! -

The one thing you are never on this forum is alone. And we're all going through the same things. We share the highs and the lows, which makes the lows seem like nothing really most of the time. I'm glad I could help you @lotuslady32. But actually you just had to be reminded that you've got this! Thank you for your suggestions as well. I will definitely follow your advice. Almost can't believe my time is nearly here! Let me know how you're doing and I'll do the same! ????. Take care. -
Anyone else as scared as i am?
The Candidate replied to Joanncann's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know @@Dub I had to come back and reread this because it's quality advice on how to think "right" about why we're all getting this done. In fact, I'm going to print it out and bring it with me to the hospital. It's natural to let the fears and doubts creep in as your date looms nearer. Thanks for putting it all in perspective! -

Worried about losing enough on pre-op diet...
The Candidate replied to ozgirl14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
See! I can't tell you how many things I stressed and worried about going through the process. All for nothing. Mines just a couple weeks away and I kind of wish I could get that worry time back! ???? It's natural though and we all go through it. That's because we know how much getting this surgery will change our lives for the better. You are going to do great when it's your turn. -
09/18 is a wonderful day to begin again! Congrats!

Small Plateau Blues
The Candidate replied to LotusLady32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wanted to welcome you! And congratulations on your recent surgery. I can't offer you any first hand advice as mine isn't until 07/29. But I can say from having read many many posts here is that you have to remember that your still healing. You just had major surgery and your stomach has to have time to adjust. The things you are experiencing are not out of the Norm. They filled you with IV fluids so you will probably gain some weight until that filters out. Put your scale away for now and concentrate more on getting your Water and Protein quotas in. Trying to second guess the numbers is only going to drive you crazy. The weight will come off, but on its own schedule, not yours. Keep doing the things you're doing, follow your surgeons guidelines and before you know the scale will move the way you want it to. Don't stress. You're fine! ???? -
What an amazing accomplishment! Congratulations!

There's a sweet release that can never be matched when you make the decision to proceed with surgery, and then realize suddenly one day that magically it has slipped over from possibility to reality! You are well on your way to a whole new life full of promise and happiness. Never look back because your glorious future lies ahead!

Fat Related Routines You Won't Miss
The Candidate replied to The Candidate's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@MIMISAN I hadn't even thought of that until you mentioned it. I was fat all during my school years, and cruelly treated. So as it wasn't really a pleasant experience to remember, I never had any desire to go back. But soon we won't have to preface every plan we make with having to work around our discomfort. What a joy that will be too, as we all deserve a place in the sun. And I'm reserving that lovely spot right over there! ???? Life is good! -

July 22 RNY Buddy needed
The Candidate replied to Tiana Harris's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hello everyone! I've been reading your lovely posts and was wondering if I could perhaps tag along? ???? I will be having the bypass on 07/29/15, after going through a full year of waiting. I'm finding as the time is drawing so very near, suddenly everything is taking on a fuzzy surreal haze. It's strange. It's sort of like that after you've been thinking, living, dreaming the idea of "getting" weight loss surgery for so long, 24/7, and putting all your energies into jumping the many hurdles, when there's nothing more left to do, you start to sort of feel cast adrift. I don't know, like so what do I do now? I've prepared to the point of obsession, nothing left to buy, no more forms to sign, classes to take or blood to give, made arrangements at work, prepped my family, and everything else you could think of. It just feels weird in a way it never did before. It's not that I'm having doubts or am reconsidering, because that would never happen. No way! In fact I don't think I've ever been more sure of anything in my life! I guess the last minute haziness stems more from the fact that I've never had surgery before in my life! I've seen many family members through the OR doors, but this will be a first for me. I know the waiting room inside and out, so it's a real reverser of roles. Anyway, have to get ready for work now. Sorry to ramble on. Normally I'm never at a loss for words, but this is... different somehow. I hope everyone is doing well. Congrats to those who have just had their surgery, will have their surgery shortly, or have just gotten their date! It's an amazing life changing journey we've embarked on and I can't wait to see the wonderful new healthy lives we are going to have! ???? -
Congratulations to both of you! Best of luck!

I'm still pre op and I started taking Biotin about four months ago. I know not everyone experiences hair loss, and some not so bad, but I wanted to be as proactive as possible. I'm taking the pills now, but will switch to the liquid post op, while I'm healing. Good luck!
