I really love how you spun that tale to encompass the whole having wls surgery experience. Honestly it was beautifully expressed! Congrats on making it to the front of the line. We're all waiting for you on the other side!

You look fantastic! Congrats on an incredible success!

Literally sitting in bed crying right now
The Candidate replied to LoseItKacy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
These feelings are normal, almost to the point of being a rite of passage. This will be a dramatic change, of that there's no doubt. But it's a positive change, a life affirming change. I'm six weeks out and I definitely have no regrets. What I gave up in no way compares to the foothold I already have in a healthy, extended life. Take deep breaths and focus on what you'll be able to achieve in the future. Good luck! -

I'm never ceased to be amazed at how hard insurance fights us on this issue, especially with all the evidence that it will save them money down the line in extended medical costs. So happy you were able to go the self pay route. For many that's not even an option. Congrats and I sincerely hope your surgery comes soon! -
Things I didn't expect my first month post-op
The Candidate replied to SleeveMe247's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having researched weight loss surgery for years, reading forums, and going through six months of weekly classes as a pre op, I felt well prepared for every contingency. Yet I'm still shocked, on a daily basis, at just how little I'm able to eat. And even more so at the fact that that little amount of food more than satisfies my hunger. It's wonderful! -
Welcome aboard! You will find great support and information here to help you along, as you progress through the process. Best wishes and good luck!

I'm six weeks out from surgery and I can vividly remember feeling everything you've described. It's perfectly normal, I promise. You'll look back on this one day and feel like all the waiting was nothing but a fuzzy half remembered dream. Good luck! -
Surgery done today!
The Candidate replied to JacksdadShane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you by chance have a drain? It hurt some when I breathed after surgery too, but once they removed the drain it went away. I was walking the night of surgery. It really helps you heal faster, so take every opportunity. Congratulations! -
You've only been deterred, but not derailed. Your day will come soon. Good luck and best wishes. Hope you feel better soon!

Today is Surgery Day - 07/29/2015
The Candidate posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Today is FINALLY my day. July 29, 2015, at high noon, I'm having my surgery! Wow, what a head rush and surreal experience, all wrapped into one. It took an entire year, but it has definitely been the most life changing journey I've ever embarked upon. I will never forget the struggle that brought me here, the friends I've made, or the health and happiness I hope to achieve. I chose my screen name, The Candidate, because in all my research the most reoccurring phrase was "You might be a candidate for weight loss surgery if..." Not sure what to identify myself with after surgery. Is "The Post Op" taken? ???? This is "The Candidate" (but not for much longer), signing off, and heading to the hospital. Thank you all, and I'll be seeing you on the other side. ❤️ -
Fat Related Routines You Won't Miss
The Candidate posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
So this morning after taking a shower, and elbow deep in my usual routine of slathering on the lotion, and slapping on the baby powder, in hopes of reducing friction, I thought, I can't wait until I don't have to do this anymore after I lose the weight. What fat related routines, patterns, or things are you hoping to leave behind after surgery? PS: Johnson & Johnson stock is really going to take a plunge after I stop buying the lotion and powder. -
I WAS APPROVED!????

I'm really getting fustered
The Candidate replied to kaysunshine's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to wait an entire year. And it felt like it would never end. There were times when I wanted to give up too. But I hung in there and now I'm almost 2 weeks postop. And I can tell you from my experience that all that time spent waiting feels like nothing now. I hope things improve for you soon, and best of luck. -
Hope you get your surgery date soon. I know it's hard to wait, but it will be worth it. The time will pass before you know it. Congratulations!
