All she wants to do is dance... wait no, sleep...
The Candidate replied to kranky813's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took six weeks off to recover and adjust and I was taking daily naps right up until the time I went back. But around eight weeks things felt different and now I have a lot more energy. Hopefully yours will return soon too! -

Going alone to hospital?
The Candidate replied to SookieLei's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I remember correctly they asked me if I wanted to lock my valuables up before surgery. I'd inquire. -
Congrats! ????

Around about when does it get better?
The Candidate replied to anna9/15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
food is definitely not your enemy. You just have to redefine your relationship with each other. Try one thing at a time, slowly, and give your tummy time to react to it and then send the message back to your brain. Listen to your body. Eventually it'll be old hat, before you know it even. ????. It's different, but really not so much. The beauty of it is after surgery, your body starts to work with you, as opposed to against you. Once you're in sync it's great. -
I'm close to twice your age, but just wanted to welcome you aboard. ????. Congrats!

The Candidate replied to blueEyez22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So sorry it happened, but so happy to hear you can still have your surgery at a later time. Your doc sounds great. Good luck! -

Thoughts on Sugar free ice cream?
The Candidate replied to Pillar2butterfly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me personally, I think it would be the gateway portal to other bad things. The same way that I try and steer away from protein bars. Too much like candy bars for me. And I'm always afraid of the time when I can't stop at one. -
Small triumps!
The Candidate replied to Pillar2butterfly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those are the best kind of comments, aren't they? The ones that come out of left field, totally unexpected. That little ego boost can just make your day. I'm so happy for you. Congrats! -
I'm only two months out from bypass and 54. I can tell you that even at this early stage the difference in energy levels is staggering. I remember before surgery that I would sometimes just marvel at how "anchored" I felt to the earth. Like I was moving throughout my day with cement galoshes! Each step was near agony. Even the effort it took to turn over in bed was monumental. I still have a long way to go, but there is definitely a kick in my steps these days!

Welcome aboard, and best of luck on your road to surgery!

I have to agree with @@Sharon1964 on this. You need to start making efforts to change now.

In considering weight loss surgery I've never labeled my thinking on the matter, or anyone else's for that matter, as "flawed" - it was more like enlightened! Sure, if I had found a proven way to keep the weight off long term that didn't involve surgery, AND actually worked, I would have been all over it. But after decades of being a card carrying ticket holder on the yo yo diet merry-go-round, and watching my body and health deteriorate rapidly as I entered my 50's, I was more than ready to try something new. There is no way I could have made the progress I've made in only two months with surgery, with any other non-surgical option. I have zero regrets, and I'm filled with hope and visions of a more healthy future in my 50's, and well beyond than I ever obtained on my own in my youth. It was so worth it. So very worth it! Sometimes you've just got to silence that doomsday voice in your head, close your eyes, and take a blind leap!

That stuck feeling!
The Candidate replied to rnwrny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry! I'm a little behind you at just over two months, and I've yet to experience the stuck feeling you describe. But it sounds awful, and I just wanted to say that I hope you feel better soon! -

It sounds like you are now in the mind frame where you need to be. You've recognized the problem and are energized to get back on the right track. You had amazing success and there's even more waiting for you just ahead. Lock in your mind and heart exactly how you feel now and what led you here. Never forget, but move onto a better place. You've got this!
