That is a very quick turnaround. Congrats on your soon to be RNY!
  2. I took six weeks off to recover and adjust and I was taking daily naps right up until the time I went back. But around eight weeks things felt different and now I have a lot more energy. Hopefully yours will return soon too!

    Going alone to hospital?

If I remember correctly they asked me if I wanted to lock my valuables up before surgery. I'd inquire.

Around about when does it get better?

food is definitely not your enemy. You just have to redefine your relationship with each other. Try one thing at a time, slowly, and give your tummy time to react to it and then send the message back to your brain. Listen to your body. Eventually it'll be old hat, before you know it even. ????. It's different, but really not so much. The beauty of it is after surgery, your body starts to work with you, as opposed to against you. Once you're in sync it's great.

Thoughts on Sugar free ice cream?

For me personally, I think it would be the gateway portal to other bad things. The same way that I try and steer away from protein bars. Too much like candy bars for me. And I'm always afraid of the time when I can't stop at one.

    Small triumps!

Those are the best kind of comments, aren't they? The ones that come out of left field, totally unexpected. That little ego boost can just make your day. I'm so happy for you. Congrats!

    Did your energy improve?

I'm only two months out from bypass and 54. I can tell you that even at this early stage the difference in energy levels is staggering. I remember before surgery that I would sometimes just marvel at how "anchored" I felt to the earth. Like I was moving throughout my day with cement galoshes! Each step was near agony. Even the effort it took to turn over in bed was monumental. I still have a long way to go, but there is definitely a kick in my steps these days!

I have to agree with @@Sharon1964 on this. You need to start making efforts to change now.

The 'Other' doctors and what they say...

In considering weight loss surgery I've never labeled my thinking on the matter, or anyone else's for that matter, as "flawed" - it was more like enlightened! Sure, if I had found a proven way to keep the weight off long term that didn't involve surgery, AND actually worked, I would have been all over it. But after decades of being a card carrying ticket holder on the yo yo diet merry-go-round, and watching my body and health deteriorate rapidly as I entered my 50's, I was more than ready to try something new. There is no way I could have made the progress I've made in only two months with surgery, with any other non-surgical option. I have zero regrets, and I'm filled with hope and visions of a more healthy future in my 50's, and well beyond than I ever obtained on my own in my youth. It was so worth it. So very worth it! Sometimes you've just got to silence that doomsday voice in your head, close your eyes, and take a blind leap!

    That stuck feeling!

I'm so sorry! I'm a little behind you at just over two months, and I've yet to experience the stuck feeling you describe. But it sounds awful, and I just wanted to say that I hope you feel better soon!

Sounds like your surgery went great and you've had a pretty easy recovery so far. Mine was the same. It was so much easier than I ever thought it would be. And every day gets better. Congrats!
