My journey has been long with lots of hairpin turns....
The Candidate replied to moltoguy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Certainly hope things go smoothly this time around. You're definitely a trooper! Funny thing, I had to sign a consent before my bypass giving my surgeon permission to proceed with a sleeve, in the event they got in and found a medical reason why one would be better over the other. So I was prepared for the possibility going in. Best of luck! -

Great interview @@OKCPirate You're definitely an inspiration! -
Besides the poses everyone else has already mentioned, I also took some of my hands. Specifically showing how far down my finger I could put on some rings that no longer fit. One of those rings that I couldn't get past the knuckle on the before pic, fits perfectly now, even so early out. But without the aid of that pic I would have sworn that I've lost no weight in my hands. It's a great motivator and NSV in one.

How quickly did you lose weight?
The Candidate replied to Alicia Richards's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You cannot measure your future success by your progress at 2 weeks out. You also can't measure yours against someone else's for the same period either. Nor can you compare your own weeks loss and expect them to be the same each and every time. I've had several weeks where I lost nothing. I'm sure I'll have more. As your body held onto its weight in its own fashion, so too will it lose it on its own terms. Your assist in this is to continue to do your part, and eventually it will happen. I'm nearly 11 weeks out and from the outset I gave myself at least a year to let my body do what it will. I'm simply a passenger studiously following the rules, serving in the most important supportive role of my life. If then, after a year I'm not fully satisfied with the results, then I'll reevaluate my eating habits, exercise, Vitamins etc. to see where I can streamline the process to make it more productive. Right now, I don't break any rules. I simply don't allow myself to stray from the course in any way. That's my way of easing any underlying doubts I may harbor about not working my tool to its fullest. It took a year to get through the approval process, and it'll take another year to hopefully reach goal, and then after that, if I'm ready, I'll begin considering some plastic surgery. If nothing else I've learned the monumental value of patience involved with this surgery. I will reach all my individual goals, but only in their designated times. Good luck! -
Introducing myself

Yes, it is indeed all worth it. So glad both you and your daughter benefitted from this remarkable surgery. It really is a second chance at life, no matter at what age you take the plunge. Congrats to both of you! -
Sorry. Didn't realize this was the Guys Room.

Anyone come home with a drain?
The Candidate replied to Seahawkgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't take it home with me, but I had one for the four days I was in the hospital. Although I didn't have much pain after surgery, 99% of the pain I did have was alleviated by its removal. Hopefully you will feel much better too, once it's out. Good luck! -
Awesome! You are doing fantastic!

Congrats on your surgery and the start of a wonderful new life! -
Welcome! I know how heartbreaking it must have been to get all the way through your program, only to have the surgery blocked at the end. I'm so happy you're back on track now and even have a surgery date! Congrats. Yes, it is time that you put yourself and your health first for once. But in the end the results will be a benefit to both you and your family. You'll find an abundance of support and advice here in the meantime. So make yourself at home. Best of luck!

My Big Fat Fabulous Life - Do you watch it?
The Candidate replied to MIMISAN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really like it. I love how open she is with her weight, and nonchalant about how it negatively affects her life. She has more courage living her life "as is" than I ever did. She also hasn't been overweight all her life and hasn't really been exposed to the long term health consequences yet. And she's young. It was pretty easy for me to work around my weight when I was younger. Eventually it will catch up to her, as it does to everyone. She's just not *there* yet. I absolutely adore her parents, especially her mother. ????
