DO NOT DO IT
The Candidate replied to ShantelleElaine's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My father died from surgical complications. Had his not related to weight loss surgery in any way procedure on 12/16/99, and was dead by 01/04/00. He was in excellent health and not overweight. He drove himself to the hospital, and was laughing and joking with us as he was being wheeled in. *Every* surgery is a risk. -

Any bad experiences ? by not taking vitamins/protein drink
The Candidate replied to shirleyjohn001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not something to fool around with, and a very small payment you make to yourself each day in exchange for a healthy post surgery life. -
This is a pretty minor set back. If it were me I would never consider throwing in the towel over this. Yes, it's inconvenient that you can't get an answer right away, but no one in any way has yet to say you've been denied. Make an appointment as soon as humanly possible, and then hear what they have to say, and go from there. If they keep putting you off, call back every single day to check for cancellations. Let them know this is holding you up, be a thorn in their side. It took me an entire year to get through my requirements. And now after surgery, all that time feels like nothing. It's worth the waiting and aggravation. Good luck!

Perspective on Obesity and Orthopedic Issues
The Candidate replied to Sojourner's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yes, that is pretty eye opening. I feel like sending my body a "forgive me" card. -
It does depend on your plan. But as long as you don't end up with a net gain at the end, you should be all right.

The Candidate replied to Ilovecats1985's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Kaiser So Cal San Diego. I had to do six months of classes. All in all it took me a year to complete everything. I thought it would never end! But I can tell you once you have the surgery, all that waiting will feel like nothing. Congrats and best wishes for your surgery! -

The Candidate replied to Yaberhoo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there! But no sammich for you! ???? -
Welcome! How much, if any, weight you are required to lose is determined by the parameters of your particular program. In mine, I was required to lose 10% of my weight during the six month period (24 pounds). The weight/BMI they took at the beginning of the program was the official starting weight. Good luck!

Woke up one day and I was no longer a Diva!
The Candidate replied to RaDiva.RNY's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Divas never die. At best you're in stasis, but your crown will still be waiting whenever you're ready. Congrats! -

Don't be so hard on yourself. Everything is a learning process. A few mishaps doesn't mean you've failed. Just keep trying and day by day things will improve. Best of luck!

Surgery next Thursday- TERRIFIED
The Candidate replied to Tina1969's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I can't relate to your particular situation as I've never had the band. I am however, 12 weeks out from the bypass. I have no regrets. It was definitely worth it. I hope everything gets resolved with your revision. Best of luck!
