December 1st surgery date
The Candidate replied to rachelr28's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome and congrats on your upcoming surgery. Your back history is a familiar refrain around here. And I can tell you that this will definitely be different than other past weight loss attempts. For one, your body finally begins to work with you rather than against you. Allowing you to lose the weight, and most importantly, keep it off long term. This is the first time in my life that my weight isn't controlling me. I have no regrets and I don't think you will either. Best of luck! -
Well, I've been yelled at today.
The Candidate replied to Snowbutterfly's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm old enough to remember a time when there was no email, voicemail, text, or even answering machines. And the vast majority of people still managed to make it to their appointments on time, without the aid of technological reminders. -

You can began walking immediately, and then increase your type of workout as directed by your doctor. I'm 12 weeks out. I use a treadmill, bike, and elliptical. I've also been swimming and take a yoga class.

Happy surgerversary! You look incredible! -
Just take a deep breath. Both you and your family are going to be fine. And always remember that you're doing this to be healthy, so you'll live longer, and can be around when your kids have kids. You'll do fine. ????

Hurry up and wait!
The Candidate replied to mngreeneyes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is just no way around the waiting issue. I spent a year in that purgatory, so I know how you feel. But your day will come and this will all fade away like it never happened at all. Hang in there and best of luck! -
Confession: I think I'm officially a bad sleever.
The Candidate replied to Sara51692's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You're wise enough to recognize potentially unhealthy behavior, and have the gumption to do something about it. So you are in no way a "bad sleever." ???? -

Once I began taking a stool softener daily, I've had no issues.

Mine was very easy. There were no written tests. It's was just a pleasant comfortable one on one conversation. She asked about my support system, my knowledge of the procedure and my expectations. My past diet and health history. We talked about family. It took like 15 minutes, and at the end she said she would be recommending me for surgery. I was anxious going in too, but it was for nothing. Easy peasy. Good luck!
