    Regretting it already..(day 1)

You can't judge your future success or failure from how you feel on day one, or perhaps even on the first month. Your body has been in frontline combat and it's dealing with a lot of physical and emotional stress. Nobody enjoys having surgery, but it's an unavoidable part of the process, so you just have to focus on your immediate and long range goals. The immediate is staying hydrated and building your Protein intake, along with walking and staying on top of your pain meds. The long range is the weight loss, improved health, and extended years of living. Use the immediate to work towards the long range. It will get better, day by day. I sometimes forget I even had surgery, but I was once where you are now. I have no regrets and would definitely do it all over again! It's worth it, I promise! Hang in there!

    Scheduled for surgery in December

It's very normal. This surgery is life changing. It's tough waiting, and your mind tends to start filling in the blanks with "what it's". We all experience this so don't be alarmed. I can tell you unequivocally that I have zero regrets. My quality of life has increased immeasurably. I have so much more energy and zest for life. I'd do it all over again without question. Congrats and best of luck!

    Glad The Boss Is Understanding...

That is awesome. Your boss sounds like a really nice person. Support in all areas of your life helps make this an easier journey. Congrats!
  13. Welcome and congrats on taking your first steps towards weight loss surgery. Your apprehensions are very normal, and you'll probably feel that way right up to surgery day. My advice is to research as much as possible. Take efforts to learn the possible bad outcomes along with the good. Be sure before you take the leap that you're willing to put in all the work necessary, mentally and physically, both as a pre op and a post op, to ensure you get the most benefit out of this remarkable tool. Your life is going to change big time, make no mistake. For myself, it was worth everything I had to go through, including waiting an entire year. Now I'm close to three and a half months out from my RNY and I have zero regrets. I'd do it all over again in a second. My HW was 248, SW was 216, and today I'm 169. I feel like I'm 20 years younger, my health has been given a total reboot, and I'm not even at goal yet. You'll get out of this experience as much as you're willing to put into it. Commit yourself heart and soul and you will never look back again. Good luck!

Taste buds haven't changed, but is that actually bad?

I haven't had many noticeable changes, with the exception of cold cuts and tuna. No Bueno. And I can no longer tolerate chewable bariatric Vitamins or vanilla Protein shakes. The real change for me, besides quantity, is the total cut off from bread, rice, and other carbs, diet soda, sweets, etc. I almost feel like I should have some sort of bariatric chip or marker to go along with it to mark how long I've been clean. But you know the longer I abstain the better I feel. Yes, sometimes I battle cravings, but I finally feel like I have the upper hand with surgery and that's amazing. Plus it definitely gets easier. For once my body and I are working towards the same goal, instead of it feeling like I'm swimming against a riptide.

In the hospital- need good vibes

Oh sweetie, you are certainly not worthless. You didn't make this happen. That's why they call them emergencies. Hang in there and concentrate on feeling better. Let the rest of the world take care of itself for a little bit and worry about yourself. You deserve to be healthy and happy, just like anyone else. Get some rest. I'm sending good thoughts your way.
