Glad to hear you're home and over the bad hump. Once you get the drain out you'll feel even better. Congrats!

    Flu shot?

Mine insisted we were up to date on everything from mammogram to flu shots. But I get a flu shot every year anyway (and a mammogram) so I was all set.

    Insurance you're killing me

Hang in there! I got an approval email saying they were forwarding my records to the surgeon. It was probably another week after that before I got the official letter, and then a second week before I heard from the surgeon. There's a lot of waiting involved, but it's so worth it in the end!

    Pain after surgery

I had very little pain, and once the drain was removed it was barely noticeable. I was able to sleep in a bed the first night home, never had trouble getting up or down. It was my first surgery ever and I expected it to be a lot worse. Hope you have the same luck!

    Husband/Wife Bypass TOGETHER?!?

I don't think there's any written in stone guidelines for how long they should be apart. But I'd schedule them at least a couple of weeks apart so one could help the other with recovery, if needed. And if you have kids and such, you'll still have one around to take care of them. Plus it might be tough if both are off work at the same time. Just some things to consider.

    Things are moving along...

I'm sure your story has a familiar refrain to a lot of us around here. I've also been obese since childhood. I'm now nearly four months out and couldn't be happier. Finally, I've found a way to conquer the beast that has negatively controlled my life in so many ways. It's like finally being set free after a wrongful conviction. I'm glad you decided to listen to the signs. You have a wonderful new life awaiting you!

    Stalling out already...

It's part of the norm, and prepare yourself because it's going to happen again. You'll also experience weeks where you don't lose an ounce. It's your body trying to adjust to all the changes. Throw out the scale for awhile or you'll drive yourself crazy.
  24. I chose to only tell my immediate family and a few close friends. I have no regrets in making that decision.
