What's been your biggest post op realization about food
The Candidate replied to Sophie74656's topic in Food and Nutrition
I learned that I can actually reach a level of satisfaction with food. There are times now that I'm suddenly aware that I haven't thought about eating something for many hours. Before I was always hungry. Always. I woke up hungry and went to bed hungry, no matter how much I ate. The freedom from that kind of total control over my life is incredible. -
Well you may not notice it but I definitely can - looking good! Congrats!

Researching, would love opinions
The Candidate replied to swiftie87's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had the RNY bypass for several reasons. I thought I might benefit from having both the restrictive and malabsorption components. I was also concerned about the possibility of developing post op GERD issues. And I also felt the psychological "fear" of dumping would help me curb my serious sweet tooth (I've yet to actually dump). My surgeon cleared me for either procedure, and at four months out I have no regrets about my choice. Good luck! -
Stick a fork in me
The Candidate replied to Tssiemer1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You've definitely had a run of bad luck, but you are certainly not a failure. I sure hope everything works out so that you can have your surgery, without it negatively affecting your kidneys. Please keep us posted and best wishes! -

Scared to finish the process
The Candidate replied to cparni's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It was my first surgery ever too. It was over before I even had a chance to process it. My recovery was so easy I sometimes wondered if I even had it done. Now at four months out I'd definitely do it all over again! -
A shocking confession... (Warning - That may be a slight overstatement).
The Candidate replied to KindaFamiliar's topic in Rants & Raves
You, my friend, are in serious need of a 12 step program. Right now, take twelve steps away from the scale. For long term results remain no closer than twelve steps to the aforesaid scale at any given time. You're welcome. ???? -
I call that "the shimmy" and it is indeed amazing! ????

Yup, and I'm going to hold you to that success requirement. ???? It sounds like you've already got things well in hand. A good attitude will serve you well on that road to success, and you've already got that in spades! Congrats! -

You know you lost weight when
The Candidate replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You start to have a little "thing" with your own shadow. Secret glances. Lingering stares. Looking for opportunities to be alone, just the two of you. Yeah, I've got it bad. -
At 2 weeks post-op, my non VSG world shattered. I am trying to pick up the pieces...
The Candidate replied to Mom26's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm so sorry to hear about the devastating news. I know there's nothing I can really say to ease your burden. Just continue on as you've been, the best you can, and that's the limit of expectations you should pile on yourself right now. Be as cognizant of your health as you are of his, as he needs you as healthy as you can be to support him and your family through this difficult time. You are in my thoughts and prayers. -
Your weight loss is impressive and your stamina for the hard work is over the moon! Congrats!

What a lovely way to end out 2015! Congrats!

That's incredible and you should be very proud!

This has been so true for me too. I had intense cravings the first month, but now at four months I rarely think about cheating, and haven't strayed once! It's nice not to have that albatross around my neck anymore.
