Wow you are definitely a winner in so many ways! Congrats and best wishes!

Although I had a very easy recovery with minimal pain, there was no getting around that fatigue. Everyone is different in life, and in recovery, so hang in there, it will definitely get better! And it is so worth it!

Have you asked? All Drs are not created equal
The Candidate replied to Balance's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I honestly don't know how long my surgery was, but the recovery was very easy. Like you, I expected it to be hard, but it wasn't. I had arranged to stay with family the first week as I had stairs. I ended up only staying the first night after discharge, and the next day I drove myself home. I was also able to sleep in a bed from the get go, when I'd read that so many others had to sleep in a recliner. It was my first surgery ever so I planned for the worst, but ended up getting the best. -

6 days post op
The Candidate replied to Mrs_B_12/16/15's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Ebony! You were definitely in the express line to getting your bypass at only four weeks. Our stats are very similar. My HW was 248 and I was 216 on SD. My surgery (RNY) was on 07/29/15 (took me a year to get through my requirements) and as of this morning I'm 157. I had a very easy recovery as well and couldn't be happier. I have zero regrets. I feel and look younger, no longer pre diabetic, and my BP is perfect. I'm sure you will feel the same way too. The cravings are their most intense, along with the fatigue, over the first month, but it will get better day by day. Welcome to the loser's bench! -
In the end just know that you will have the last word on the subject, without ever having to say a word. It will be broadcast, far and wide, by your new healthy body and renewed life energy. Until then, just remember that this journey is yours and no one else's. No matter what the naysayers throw at you, they can never touch your resolve. They can never break you. If you have to give them any due, let it be sympathy. People who feel the need to belittle others only do so to hide their own shortcomings. Don't validate them with your response. You know how much you're changing and that's all that matters. Stay strong and best wishes!

"Carelessness, pain, and hindsight", a cautionary tale for those with the gastric band
The Candidate replied to Paige Dukes's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You poor thing! Sure hope you're feeling better and lesson learned. And may I just say that you're an excellent writer - really made that whole thing vivid in my head. -
Although it's hard to believe now one day soon you'll have days when you forget you ever had surgery. Hang in there!

Yikes! Colonoscopy prep questions?

I did my best but couldn't get that whole jug down. When I mentioned I hadn't finished the whole thing they said it wasn't a problem. Good luck! -

I know it's tough, but looking at the big picture, those foods didn't really represent comfort. What they really represent is bad health and aching joints and pain, both internal and external. It's true what they say about "a moment on the lips, but a lifetime on the hips" or any other place on the body you so choose. What you're giving up in exchange for extra years in your life cannot compare. Hang in there and here's wishing you a very happy birthday! -
Things we dont have to worry about anymore!

Worrying that if I have to get on the floor for some reason that I won't be able to get back up again. Feeling that awful drag of weight just trying to turn over in bed. -
