revision from LapBAND, 150+ lbs to lose
prillywilly replied to MKJohnson15's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Oh my gosh you sound just like me! I am not as far along in the process but I am going to have my band removed and am researching GB and I'm just so scared! I love reading all the encouragement on here though, it helps so much! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

Freaked myself out by reading Negative experiences. Give me the truth, please.

I love seeing such positive and affirming stuff about Dr Simpson, makes me 100% proud to have had him as my surgeon. He genuinely cares for patients and lap-band. -

The was me. Don't let this be you! After years of failing my band I'm back on the journey, embarrassed or not, because its time I stopped waiting time. 10 lbs in one month is great, do not be embarrassed! :-)

Cleaning fairies, support, and unburied bodies

I love this! It's so true though. My hubby is the same way. Sometimes I forget how supportive he is of my crazy journey and focus on the bad points. Thank you for the reminder! -

Hi! I'm April and I just started using it as well, would also like some buddies! I'm Priltend on MFP. I was banded way back in 2009, lost 60lbs, then stopped eating the way I should. I maintained for a good while then got pregnant in 2011 and gained it all nearly back after being unfilled. I just got a fill last Firday and I'm back on track and would love some new friends along my second (and and hopefully successful) journey! -
Not thin yet--only 1/2 way there

It is so refreshing to see that I am not the only one who has fallen into this trap! I totally have stars in my eyes, being down a bunch of sizes and getting compliments left and right. You would think that would be the motivation to keep eating and exercising right, but for some reason it has had the opposite effect for me. Thank goodness the holidays are over!! -

hair loss and old age lines!
prillywilly replied to Tranquility's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
4 months seems to be the magic number. I am losing my hair as well, at an almost alarming rate! Being that I already have thin hair, it is quite devastating. When I asked the dr about it being Protein or taking boitin, I was told it is a common reaction to the anesthesia from the surgery, and my best friend also said she learned about that when she was in school to be a nutrition. Anyone else hear the same thing? The good news is everyone says it eventually stops. I hope so, Im ready to invest in some Rogaine! -

I am the worst at measuring! We usually "eyeball". but I want to, Im just too lazy I guess! One thing I forgot to mention, I'm losing my hair! Do any of you have this problem as well? My hair has always been thin, so this really sucks, its making me a bit depressed, I cannot do anything with it now. Any suggestions? I was going to ask Dr S about it when I have my next appointment. -

Hey everyone! Just popping on here real fast to say hi! Sorry I havent been on here much, Im currently taking a full load of art courses and working too, so I dont have much time to myself. Ive been doing ok, band wise, Ive had 3 fills and Im getting ready to schedule my 4th. I havent had any complications (No pb, none of that stuff) except if something isnt chewed enough or its too dry (Ive learned that leftover chicken is always a no-no) I get horrible pain in my left shoulder, just like after surgery. I always have it in the mornings when I wake up. Dr Simpson says its from having my esophageal hernia repaired during my lap band procedure, and that it will eventually pass. I hope so, because its frustrating! I do find, however, that I can still eat pretty much the same foods as before, which is frustrating as well because if I couldnt eat them, it would be easier to resist. I wish I could go to the groups but I have classes on thursday nights. boo. So how is everyone else doing? April -

Sorry I havent been on here forever! I have been overwhelmed with work, school and travel, I'm hardly ever home anymore! I'm progressing well. I had my second fill 2 weeks ago, and this time it didnt even feel like I had a fill! So weird. I go back at the end of this month and hopefully get another fill and it will work out better. How are you Lisa? Did you go to the most recent meeting? I cannot go since I have classes on Thurs. evenings. -

Hey Lisa, I went to the meeting that night too! I surprised myself by going, but I'm glad I did, it was very informative. So I got my first fill Monday without any problems. Its funny, now I feel tight, if that makes much sense. I always feel this way in the mornings, and now I feel it all day long. I'm not complaining, though it is hard to get enough fluids now (I enjoyed not having to take tiny sips before, now I must buckle down) I enjoy not feeling remotely hungry! -
Will it be different after my first fill?
prillywilly posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I seriously am feeling like something is wrong, I can eat anything and everything. Not that I do, but it is very hard to eat small amounts when I am so hungry after 4 hours. I had my surgery on 6/17/09 and my next visit with the doctor is in 2 weeks. After I get my first fill will I be able to eat less? I also have no problems with any foods, and I have never had a pb. All the weight I lost was during the liquid stage, not one pound since (3 weeks?) If I were to just eat the tiny portions required I would be gnawing through the side of a cow in less than 2 hours. It seriously feels like the surgery was just a dream, that it didnt really happen. Anyone understand where I'm coming from? Will it be different? Thanks!! April -

Hey Christine, congrats!! That is awesome that your fill allows lunch to last 5 hours! It sure makes me feel hopeful. I am going to get one Monday so I will let everyone know how it goes for me as well! -

I sure hope I get a fill! I need to be able to exercise more, but this heat is killing me. We try to walk at night, but this week has been too stormy (we tried going out once during a dust storm. Wont be trying that again!). My appointment is on Monday the 27th. Are you definitely going to the group on the 23rd? I'm thinking about it. I get nervous about things like that, so who knows if I will actually do it. -

Yeah, I've been ok but my incision is still healing. It sucks because I want to swim, its to friggin hot to walk outside! I am having a huge problem getting full. I feel like I have no restriction and I worry about stretching my upper stomach. I get real worried sometimes. What do you do when you are starving at 3pm? I keep trying to drink Water but I dont know if it is ever going to be enough. My next visit w/the dr is in 2 weeks, I dont know if I will be getting a fill or not. Oh, and the weight loss has slowed dramatically. -

Ok, appt was ok, my incision has an abscess, apparently my body does not like the internal stitches and was trying to propel them out, hahaha, so now Im on antibiotics. Dr S congratulated me on the weight loss so far (yay) and my next appt is in 4 weeks. I asked about the nutrition f/u and the nurse said it was the Lap Band 2 class? so Im onto mushies right now, woot! soft boiled eggs never tasted so good, hahaha! -

Congrats! Ive been losing constantly but I know once I eat some real food I will gain some back before losing it again. Seems to be the trend, at least I can make peace with it in advance. -
This is exactly what I did as well, besides telling my boss (who I am pretty close to and he has struggled with his weight all his life) so I could have an ally at work in case people started questioning me about anything. So far it works, but luckily if I have to, our bathrooms are pretty private.

Thanks Lisa, I guess it does make sense that I should be weak while my body is still healing. I have been drinking some cream soups and I am drinking Water, but I do find it hard sometimes to remember to drink enough. Sometimes I will be sitting here doing something and realize I'm thirsty, then its like, Dang! I should have been drinking this whole time! And its not like you can make up for it all at once. Thats one of the hardest things for me, to not be able to guzzle tons of water at once, hahaha. Returning to work was weird and more difficult than I thought, but I am real close with my boss and he knows that I am going through (no one else at work knows why I had surgery) and knows I am taking it easy, so that helps. I will try to wait until I see Dr Simpson on Monday, but if anymore difficulties pop up I will definitely email him. Thanks again for the support! April -

I was also wondering, did anyone feel real weak after the first week? Yesterday I was real easily put into a clammy sweat and I felt very weak. Im drinking carnation instant Breakfast and 2 Protein shakes per day, alongside Soups, Keifer, broths, Water, sf koolaide, and Jello, I am taking my Multivitamin and tums. I have lost 13lbs in one week. is that too much? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks April
