That is frickin' phenomenal! :clap2: Regarding ticker/pin issues: You may want to try deleting your Cookies first and then enter your pin. If that doesn't work, you can always start from scratch.

I know what you mean. I've been drinking the Isopure Zero Carb clear drinks (40 grams of protein/160 calories per 20 oz. bottle) and I gag every time I have to swallow the swill. Some people have posted different websites that offer sample sizes of Protein Drinks. You may be able to try a few until you find one that you like. If I come across those posts again, I'll send you the link.

    6 Month diet done wrong??

Your best bet would be to contact your insurance provider directly and ask exactly what you need to do in order to get approved. I too have BC/BS, but I didn't have to do the 6 months supervised diet, so it may vary from plan to plan. What I know about the supervised diet from my surgeon's medical receptionist (she has BC/BS and had to do the supervised diet before her surgery) is that BC/BS must receive a faxed form from your doctor for each of the 6 consecutive monthly visits (no gaps) stating what diet plan you are following, what kind of exercise you are doing, as well as changes in weight. I know that this is an extremely frustrating time, but hang in there. You'll get there soon enough! Keep us posted on your progress!

It's pretty important to have protein to help you heal and to keep your body from burning muscle for the protein it needs. Have you tried adding a Protein Drink in between meals to help supplement your protein intake? When I'm "full," if that's what it's called, I feel like I have to burp, but nothing will come out. Has anyone else experienced this feeling? How do the rest of you know when it's time to push the plate away?

What Happened & What did I Miss..??

Awesome. That's the best advice I have heard so far!
  8. Who's the one kidding themselves?! Do you honestly believe that mainstream politicians actually care about what you have to say? Are you greasing their palms? If your answer is "no" to the last question then stop kidding yourself. Unless you are the leader of some special interest group that is feeding money into their pockets, then no, politicians are not listening to you. If you enjoy being a sheep, then that is your prerogative. However, I CHOOSE, as is my right, not to follow the flock. Not out of protest or in search of kudos from others, but because I feel very strongly about voting for the candidate that best represents my beliefs. Why the hell would I give my support to the "lesser of two evils." I have more respect for myself and freedom to do such a pathetically spineless thing.

Frisky1, you are not alone! I have periods of regret, but then I remember the reasons why I had the surgery in the first place. I think of all of my favorite foods that will probably be off limits (like angel hair Pasta and cheeseburgers) and I start to feel remorse. However, I snap myself right out of it when I think that those foods only bring momentary pleasure. We had this surgery to add longevity and improve the quality of our lives so that we will have more time to spend with the people that we love and doing the things that we enjoy. We didn't have the surgery so that we could have more time to stuff our faces. In regards to the foods that you mentioned, I haven't heard that those were restricted. I have heard that once you get to the solid food stage you should try one new food at each meal (and eat even slower!). Everyone will have different tolerance levels, so who knows! You may be able to still enjoy those items in moderation. Every bariatric center has different aims for their patients. As a guideline, my surgeon suggests eating between 900-1200 calories per day. Caloric intake varies for all people based on one's metabolism and activity level, so it is really important to follow what your doctor has suggested to you. If he/she hasn't given you specific requirements, ask him/her for them at your next appointment. As part of your pre-op requirements, did you have to see a nutritionist? If you didn't, I would suggest seeing one affiliated with your bariatric center. They will be able to go over a detailed diet plan, teach you how to make good food choices, and explain what goals they would like to see you fulfill. You are doing a great job, so don't get discouraged!

    Mushie Stage

I had garlic hummus last night for dinner...I was a very happy Trixie! Yesterday was my first day of mushies. It was a bittersweet day to say the least. I made myself a scrambled egg with skim milk and a 1/4 of an ounce of cheddar, mashed up a 1/4 of a cup of no sugar added diced peaches, and sat down to enjoy my feast. I could only get half of the egg down! Same thing happened at lunch. I made myself some refried Beans with a couple of tablespoons of low sodium chicken broth to thin it out in the blender, added some pureed salsa, cheddar, and low fat sour cream on top, and again only half made it's way down the hatch. I'm happy that I don't have to prepare anything for today's meals and that I'm not overeating, but geez, this head hunger is a drag!

    How about December BEFORE Pics?

Two Weeks Post-Op I don't have any "true" before pictures. I weighed about 26 pounds more at my heaviest in late September. As of this morning, I'm down 14.5 pounds from my surgery weight.

    Any Last Minute Advice.....

I wish I had known about the possibility of "productive farting." I'm glad that I was home for that terribly mortifying experience. My suggestion for the first week post-op: When you feel the need to pass gas, make your way to the bathroom like you would if you needed to go number two.
  13. I was thinking the same thing...
  14. Julie, you have said on a number of occasions that because of the scars from your plastic surgeries you could never be a bikini model. I must ask, "Why the hell not!" All those "perfect" little bitches in all of the magazines are not so perfect, you know. They airbrush the crap out of them! Once all of the swelling goes down and your awesome scars have healed, you should march right into a photography studio clad in a tiny bikini and have a series of portraits taken. Have them airbrush one set and do a side by side comparison with the originals. You will probably see that the only difference will be in the texture of your skin. The shape and form of your body will be all yours! You owe it to yourself for all of the hard work you have done, both physically and mentally, to realize that you absolutely CAN be a bikini model. You ARE one of those perfect little bitches now!

    A List of Goals

I figured I would start a list of goals. I've heard that if goals are spoken aloud and/or written down, the chance of attaining them increases. So, I figured that I would give it a shot. Please share yours as well! Goal: To reach "onederland" by April 6th. Very steep goal (70 lbs. to go), but I'm determined to do it. My sister-in-law is getting married later that month and I want to be able to wear anything that I want! As of right now, I have my eye on a really cute, pale-yellow tea-length number by Jim Hjelm: Jim Hjelm Occasions
  16. Have you tried Isopure, or as some say, "Isopuke" (I still get a kick out of that!)? They have pre-made zero carb, zero-fat drinks. GNC - Nature's Best® Isopure Zero Carb - variety pack
  17. I've got the dent, too. I figured it was just some swelling.

  21. Hello my darlings! I just got home from the hospital a few hours ago and I'm feeling pretty damn great. I had my surgery yesterday and it went off perfectly. And guess what? My surgeon said that my liver was healthy and normal looking! I have you guys to thank for all of your prayers and well wishes. You really are incredible people and I don't think that I would have gotten over that set back without your support. THANK YOU!
  22. Have you tried using a heating pad or rubbing the spots where you feel the gas building up? That and walking around seem to be helping the most for me. I'm not really tooting it up over here like a herd of elephants, but I do feel the gas moving around a lot more.
  23. Linda, I am so happy for you! I can't believe that you're almost halfway to your goal. Actually, I can believe it! Great job!

Good luck week of Dec. 17th!

Wow, you really are having wonderful success! Congratulations and keep up the great work! I feel pretty good for one-day out. I have some soreness and a little gas pain, but I have a high tolerance for pain and knew what to expect. I had gallbladder surgery last summer and the feeling is pretty comparable. Let us all know how your appointment goes with your doctor. We'll all be cheering for you!
