I have lost 79 pounds so far. I have only had 2 fills, 1cc & .25cc's. I have a 14cc band. in my 1st fill he gave me 2 & I was sooooooooo tight he had to take a cc out. I went back a month or so later & he gave me 1/2 & it was way to tight so he took out 1/4cc. Now, every time I eat I make loud noises & I have to chew chew chew (did I mention CHEW?) everything so so small or it gets stuck. The noises are a pain in the butt because I can not eat in a quiet place or everyone in the room can hear me. I have not told anyone except my hubby & daughter I had this done so I do not want the questions asked as to why I am making such loud noises. I am starting a new job on Monday & I am terrified about them wanting to do lunch etc... I try to work out every day... Sometimes it is only 5 days a week now but on the other days I am out moving & not just sitting home on the computer. I think that is helping a lot too! I am soooooooooooooooooooooo freaking happy with the results of the band, so I will take the noises & the chewing any day over being 79 pounds heavier! I have the energy now, I can shop in NORMAL stores for clothes, no one stares, I can fit into a booth, I can get a hug from my daughter & her arms reach all the way around now!! I love it. I thank my primary care doc 1st & foremost for him saying, "You are way to heavy & you need to lose weight" for with out him telling me that I would still be where I was or heavier. He also got me the approvals for the lap band so my insurance covered it all... then I thank my band doc. They both saved my life!

I have lost almost 70 pounds now... I went from a 26 to a loose 16 now... I still was not seeing it... But..... This morning, as I was hugging my daughter, she said Mommy, you may not see it but look, she said I could never get my arms all the way around you. Now not only can I get them around you but look I can grab my wrist too!! With tears I said, WOW, I guess I have lost some... & what a great way to have finally opened my eyes to see it but with a great big hug from my daughter!!!! I do not think there will be another NSV that can top that one (for me anyway)

Noises after a fill, to tight?
ShhhhDontTell replied to ShhhhDontTell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have not had a fill since 12/6 & the noises are still there & still so loud. you can hear it from across the room. I sound like a dinosaur! I chew chew chew... I eat slow... I guess I need to call the doc but I am afraid he will want to take out some fill & then I will be totally hungry again.... what to do what to do what to do??? -
Hi everyone... I was banded on 10/5/07... 1st fill was 11/6/07, he put in 2 cc's & it was way to tight, I could not even swallow 1 sip of water... he took out 1 cc at that time... it was going great then about 2 weeks out the hunger came back strong... I went to see the doc on 12/6, he gave me 1cc fill.. again I could not swallow & I made awful gurgling noises, he said you may have air in it... he moved the needle around & took out the 1cc & yes there was air in it... he put 1/2 cc back in... I could swallow & drink that water... So I went home... It seems I can only eat a tiny tiny bit now, since I have had the band I could never eat this little, but that is ok because I am not hungry.. BUT, now every time I eat there are awful noises & grumbling noises coming from my stomach... It almost sounds like I am growling or getting ready to burp but no burp... my stomach starts to hurt a little after I eat... but the noises are bad... I have to eat with clients & I have not gone out because I do not want them to hear it... I also have a Christmas party & I am terrified of people hearing these noises... ohhh and I have not told anyone I work with I had this done so I can not blame it on the band... any one had the same thing???

ShhhhDontTell replied to Rachel In L.A.'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My pleasure LOL Good luck!! I only told my hubby, daughter & 2 friends, I hardly see the 2 friends... I told no one else.. not even family.. they all just think I am dieting AGAIN & how long will it last... So this time they will be shocked that it will last. I love my band, it is a great tool! -

As I said earlier... I said I had my gal bladder out... I told my doc what I did, he said that if I needed my gall bladder out that he could give me many other things that I could say I had done... example, a ulcer that needs repair... He said people actually have this surgery all of the time & some go through it a few times in their life. He said if he had to give some one a tall tale to tell that it would be the gall bladder. A hernia can be done as an out patient & does not take that long to re coop from... and like he said if the gall bladder needs to come out there are other things you can use. my doc is so cool about it all.. he said do not tell a soul if they might bring you down, doubt you... etc... all you want is support... most of the time people do not support it... or they get on you about what you eat.. how you eat & that you should be losing more... I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy I did not tell anyone!! -

I told everyone I had my gall bladder out. That was it... No one questioned me at all... I said that since I was eating better because I had it out I just continues with the diet. I am now down almost 60 pounds & everyone is saying wow, you look great... I did not want anyone to judge me... it is none of their business... only your business. -

I could have had 3-4 fills by now but i have only had 1- 1/2 cc's put in & I do not need any right now. It feels great! Good luck!

comparison with gastric bypass patients
ShhhhDontTell replied to kbinaz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I only told my hubby, daughter & 2 friends. I hardly see my 2 friends. 1 is a nurse so she knows all about the band, that is 1 reason why I told her. I did not tell anyone else in my family. They would be the worst people to judge me. Not to mention I would hear from them ohhh see you are so fat you had to take the easy way out & have this done. It is none of anyone business but MINE! I told e1 including work that I had my gall bladder out. I have lost 45 pounds since oct! I am so happy! I know it comes off slower. I am so happy I had this done. Good luck! -
I am not sure what is going on with me. I had a second fill last week. The doc put in 1 cc & then took out 1/2. I was banded on 10/5/07. My 1st fill was 12/6. On my 1st fill he put in 2 ccs & it was to tight he took out 1. this time on 11/6, he put the one in thinking I was good with 1 the last fill but, it was to tight. I needed the fill as I was getting very very hungry. Now, I can barely eat anything. When I do eat it gurgles soooooooooooo loud you can hear me in the office next to me! I can eat 2 bites & it starts... It hurts too, not a whole lot but I have a high threshold for pain, so my little bit may mean a whole lot of pain to others. I mean I took no pain pills for this surgery at all, even in the hospital I declined & said I'll be fine. I had a total hip replacement & I only hit the "pump" 2 times & they could not believe it. Anyway, I just do not think these noises & this little bit of pain is normal. Any ideas?

TENaciousTENS "roll call" as promised!
ShhhhDontTell replied to OregonHolly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did not want people to ask me or pry into my personal life, so I just told everyone at work & even family that I had my gall bladder removed. It is none of anyone business what you had done or why... I am losing & people are noticing & it was on my terms... They see me eating the better choices & passing on all of the cookies, donuts bagels etc... They are saying wow, what will power you have... and ya know what it is will power because I have not eaten 1 piece of junk. I have wanted to & it would fit... but I am on a mission to lose weight & to get healthy, I ate all of that crap & know how it tastes... Let them have the pounds... I only told my husband, daughter & 2 of my bst friends that I had it done. That is it. I am so glad I did for I do not want anyone to judge me or say "You took the easy way out"... -
I am still beaming from ear to ear knowing I can fit into normal clothes!!! Thanks!!

I used Dr Kirkland at Penn Hospital. I love him... I had my surgery 10/5/07... He is a great doc with a great bedside manor... He knows his stuff... I have told many people to go to him after they have seen others & they have thanked me for telling them about such a wonderful doctor.
