Hi frusterated....This one's for you: from my understanding with the lapband, you are not suppose to chew gum at all after being banded because the air from chewing stretches your pouch? Please advise......

The 30 people that have viewed this may not have all been banded and gone through the experience to be in a position to reply! ( Just thought I would point that out!! )

Hi! I was just banded on Monday January 7th and I had a fantastic experience. Glad to say that all went well, in fact I was doing so well that I was sent home the very next day..... I made sure that I got up and out of the hospital gurney as much as I could without overdoing it, and made my rounds walking around the nurses station and back, used my spirometer often, coughed and cleared up my lungs, sipped slowley and waited every 5 minutes, etc. Because I am doing everything by the book I feel that has a huge part as to how I'm recovering so well. I have also noticed that my stomach doesnt really ROAR so much when it growels like it did before I was banded. Don't get me wrong, my stomach still growels a bit however the intensity of the roar is now like small rumbles! ....... I wanted the lap-band so bad and was mentally prepared for it and now I cannot wait to reap all the benefits from this towards a new and healthy and fulfilled life! YEAH!!

Ha! We are practically also in the same weight catagory as well!.... I went to Dr.Peter LePort's 'SMART DIMENSIONS' weight loss group and had my surgery at Orange Coast Memorial Hospital in Fountain Valley, CA. No regrets here! I noticed today that I am passing gas more than usual which I am guessing is the air that's trying to leave my body from the surgery....

Hi Kristy! You and I are almost the same age and live in the same area, ( I'm 33 & reside in San Clemente ) I have been on this journey for almost 2 years once going back and fourth with gastric bypass or the Lap- Band. All I can say from my journey so far, is that nobody really has the answers for you. You have to go out and find them and take your time to do your homework. I have spent countless hours on the internet researching and comparing surgery's including doctor's etc. It is my experience that I had to go out and find answers myself. Take your time. Time is the best medicine! I am sceduled for surgery on January 7th 2008 with Dr.Peter Leport's group in Orange County, Ca called smart dimensions. I suggest also that you attend one of there support groups and gain some more insight since this is such a personal decision. Look him up and my best wishes go out to you! Good-Luck.

O.k, so I registered now and I am feeling like part of the family here on this wonderful, and educational, and very informative website that I read almost everyday!!....... I am scheduled for L.B surgery on Monday, January 7th 2008 ( The soonest they could get me in ) and I will be going through Dr.Peter LePort's smart dimensions weight loss center in Orange County, CA!!
