Realisation of what a half cup of food looks like!

So I was cooking some pumpkin soup for my lunch for the next few days before preop diet starts on Sat. I cooked up all the pumpkin I had so it wouldn't have to be chucked out and the extra I thought I would freeze for after surgery when i move to the thicker soup stage. So I made it up in half cup batches and couldn't stop laughing at how little there was in the containers! But hey, I now have a few meals in the freezer :frown: No wonder we lose weight

    Are we there yet??

So I am due to be banded on the 27th of August and wish it would hurry up and get here already! I am going to have it on the same day as my dad so we will be going through all this process together.:frown: It really is a good time too, birthday just having passed and a bit of time between now and Christmas to get settled into the new life . (and due to the fact I am cooking Christmas dinner this year for 20ish  I am glad I have this time to get into a routine!) I am excited about the future with a healthy dose of apprehension too. Will be starting the preop this weekend which I am not looking forward to but hey, i can manage! Have only told one person at work. Have told close friends and the whole family knows (dad can't keep secrets and given he's told everyone about himself, mine can't be kept quiet but I am ok with that!). Mostly positive feedback from everyone which is great!! Bring on August 27th!!!

    Tell Us About You!

Yay it worked  I figured if you got the all star to show you wouldn't need a complete blow by blow to get the ticker
  6. True Lana. I hear you but having done every diet known to man I'm understanding that weight can fluctuate and I don't take gains or minimal losses to heart! Especially now I have a better understanding of how the band works and that it can take 5 trips or more to figure out the right fill for you and that the weight loss may fluctuate in this time! Those who may not want to do this should definitely NOT feel pressured into it or if you want a buddy to do it with you could PM them! But Lellow, I'm in!

    Surgery Story 8-1-08

I've had a few but not laproscopic. I generally come out of the anaesthetic ok (usually starving but I guess this time will be different ) When you come out of the anaesthetic when you are in recovery you will most likely feel cold and they give you nice warmed blankets so that is the first thing I demand .... usually with "Im cold really cold can I have a warm blanket please?" and this is followed every minute until I start to feel toasty
  9. I'd check with the doc...the purpose of doing it is to shrink the liver and as most of the surgery is done behind the liver it is beneficial to have it smaller and make it easier for the doc to get to the stomach.

    Anyone else freaking out??

Fashionable clothes!! I can't wait...I may actually look forward to clothes shopping in the future. Also I watched this on You tube and got really emotional (not one to cry at something that is just a persons pictures but it was the other thoughts that were running through my head and the hope for the future!).......so I figure I am regularly going to watch peoples progress photo youtube postings and get inspired! 13. Now I know this isn't for everyone but I found it interesting. It isnt' too gory (it was more how rough the doc seemed that got to me more) but if you are concerned about it seeing it before you go to have it, DON'T WATCH!! Those who have had the surgery may want to see it... This is a video of a surgery and it is in 5 parts... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHzljCq2jbk&feature=related]YouTube - Live Lap-Band® Surgery Part 1 of 5 - Kansas City[/ame] alternatively go to you tube and search on 'Lapband surgery Kansas City'! There is a section in Part 4 about 8minutes 50 seconds in where the doc explains the band used and why he chose it! (he is just stitching up the holes and you can't see anything really at this point so those who were trying to decide on a band, you may want to listen...I don't know if it will help... I can also after watching this understand why the port area is sorest!!!

    The one thing

I totally understand this!! I wanted to go on a helicopter ride over the Northern Territory a few months back and wouldn't because you had to get weighed before you went in the chopper! Good luck to all you September Samurai's!!

    One month in...photos included!

Wow Danni you can totally see a difference! You're doing great! When you are living with yourself every day I think it is harder to see the weight coming off and I think the photo comparison is a great way to show yourself you are losing the weight! *Note to self - take progress shots*
