Boo Boo Kitty's PS Journey
Foofy replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
BBK, I am wondering how you are doing with swelling. You seem to be one of the only people whose Dr. doesn't have them slapped into a binder. I think your Dr. said it was better for blood supply to the incision site. How's it going? Do you think the lack of binder is making you swell more or less than the other folks? I know it's proably hard to make a comparison like that, but I am trying to prepare for my eventaul PS and would like to get more info on life without a binder. You look great! -

Well that sucks. But, now that you know what it is, you can attack the problem head on. Keep those positive thoughts. I am sure it will work out. In the meantime, you could Google "band slip" and see what you get and also post on the main forum to see if you can get any good advice. We're all pulling for you, girlee. Rats. I just realized that, once you get it fixed, you are going to rocket past me and I will be the last slow loser.

I just read "Water for Elephants". Great story!! "The Time Traveler's Wife" was also great.

I'll do it!! I just got back from 6 hours of whitewater rowing on the Blackfoot River (of "A River Runs Through It" fame). Gorgeous scenary, great high water, lots of fun. My arms are TIRED. I was a little worried because someone drowned on the river a few days ago, but they didn't have a good boat and weren't wearing life jackets, so.... -

Thanks Frangi, That's very motivating. I need to get my butt in gear. God knows I have no lack of places to walk to.... I was afraid you were going to say that you ate 700 calories a day, or something like that. -

Frangipani & TexasBecky get Reconstructed
Foofy replied to TexasBecky's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Frangi and Becky, I am a slow loser and am wondering how many calories you two were eating on a "normal" day during the first 100 pounds of your loss. You both are such spectacular losers. I must admit, I hadn't even noticed your band dates until now, because I was so fascinated with your PS stories. Your weight loss stats are very enviable! Any input would be appreciated. -
Good luck on the barium swallow tomorrow Sades!!!

November Nymphs Summer Meltdown Challenge
Foofy replied to cindyg1212's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Foofy - do you think you lost because you were eating mainly low-carb? I just noticed from what you posted it seemed to be mainly meat dishes. Linda, Nah. There were carbs in there (rice, mashed potatoes, cheesecake, sigh), I just didn't write about them (too embarassing). I think it was really just a shake up to the old routine. When not on vacation, I rarely eat bread or much sugar, so I am low-ish carb most of the time, but almost never as low as Atkins. I did Atkins before a couple of times and lost weight but gained it all back plus more. -
Breast Reduction scheduled 6/26 - Any Advise?
Foofy replied to maryrose's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Congratulations!!!!! -
Dr. S. We very much appreciate you candor and insight. The whole PS thing is new to many of us, although we can see it looming in our future. It can be hard to sort through what is hype and what is truth on our own. I for one am very appreciative of having such an experienced resource to turn to for input. Thanks!

Steph's PS Journey - Breast Reduction/Lift, Medial Thigh Lift and Full Abdominoplasty
Foofy replied to bosteph's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Oh man. I am so jealous. Mine are waving to my toes. -
Salsa, I was looking through Make Me Heal.com and there are several people who have had the type of tummy tuck you are getting (vertical scar). They look great. It seems like they already had the gastric bypass scar, so they went with the vertical incision because it gave a more contoured result. I don't think the vertical scar is that noticable, and they sure do seem to get more of an hourglass result that way. I think you are going to look great. Best of luck. Adios to Jabba. Congrats on the half marathon.

The Doobies probably gave you munchies and you just don't remember.... -
I download audio books or podcasts on my Ipod to work out with. I am a lot more distraacted by that than by television. It makes it so I can go 45 minutes on the eliptical trainer without noticing how pooped I am.

No bra ever? Doesn't gravity still work against you even with perky new breasts? I'd sure hate for them to be laying on your knees after 10 years.... Did you mean no bra ever at night? -
November Nymphs Summer Meltdown Challenge
Foofy replied to cindyg1212's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm sticking by that. A month of careful calorie counting didn't do anything, until I spent 5 days eating softshell crabs, pulled pork, fried oysters in garlic aioli, and cuban chicken with black Beans. I also drank a few mojitos. OMG!!! Then, when I got back in the calorie counting saddle - BAM - down 2.5 pounds! -
If memory serves, that little swim dress WAS kind of like a cheerleaders outfit. Now you just need some pompoms. Gooooooooo Nymphs.

Hey Huskerette, We are a very non-exclusive club. Welcome in. I assume you'll be sending the normal initiation fee out to all Nymphs ;o) (kidding). Put your numbers in our Nymphs Weight Loss to Date thread. YOU will put us over the one ton loss mark!!! Go nymphs!!! Oh, I have about 3 ccs in a 10 cc band (not sure how much they put in during surgery....) Hollyberries - what the heck - when did your BMI get below mine?!?!? It's on now!!!!

Yay! I am not too far from getting out of "very obese" and into "obese". My biggest thrill was losing that "morbidly obese" tag. That just made me feel like I was a walking time bomb. Yay for you!
