Renewedhope is Headed for the Flatlands
Foofy replied to renewedhope's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
What an exciting day for you. Sounds like you are doing GREAT! Take it easy. -
Thanks for the update. I hope you have some good movies or something to watch while you are recuperating. Obviously, hubby has found a new pasttime. ;o)
-
NYC skinny, Congratulations on your success. You should post your pics.

Cindy - I will give you a full review. It's a whirlwind trip for me. About all I get to do is sit in meetings. I was going to stay a few days extra, but the standard Manhattan hotel rate (even at the Federal government discount) was way too high for my budget ($368!!! a night). I didn't pay that much to stay in Venice, Italy! The Federal rate for a hotel room in Montana is $70. Quite a difference.

Fabulous! I'll have to twist the arms of my dining companians so that I have these dishes available to me to taste without having to eat the whole thing. I'm really looking forward to it. Is calf's foot jelly like an aspic or headcheese (jellied meat product)? I'll have to think about that one. At the very least, I think that will require a shot of vodka. The vodka will also be necessary if I am to dance the hora in the aisles between the tables. I think I can sing/mumble a good bit of Hava Nigila and I also have some vague recollection of a folk song ("Lo Isa Goy???") from my days in the Montan Women's Chorus singing "songs of justice and freedom." I am sure it will be a blast! Thanks for the menu suggestions! I'll give feedback.

JJ, SEE what a stunner you are? Don't be so shy. You should post those before and after pictures wherever and whenever you can. They are very inspriring! -

How did the gym photos go? I am sure your photo on the Wall of Success will be an inspiration to many. I was just scrolling through the before and after thread and came across your lovely, smiling face. Your before and after is really quite a remarkable transformation. I think you should add those pictures to this thread so people can see the "whole JJ" - not just the stomach close ups. Great work!!!! -

Renewed, You are lovely before surgery. I can tell that (like me) you are apple-shaped. I bet that TT is going to make a world of difference in your shape. I can't wait to read about and see the fabulous results!!!! -
Well, I thought I was posting this in Nov 2007 yesterday, but I apparently posted it in "General Support". People were probably scratching their heads over their wondering what I was talking about. :smile2: ---- It's 28 degrees F with 6 inches of new snow in Helena, Montana right now. It's a winter wonderland. I hope everyone is doing well. It's been pretty slow here at the Nymphs page. I guess the most exciting news on the horizon is Shalee's upcoming TT. Congrats! I figure I have another year to go, but that's okay. Is anyone else feeling that they are close to wanting/needing plastic surgery yet? Is everyone happy with progress so far? I've been gaining/losing the same pound since mid August. Maybe I'll break down and get another fill....

Whoo hoo. It's almost time!!! Best of luck! I can't wait to see the results. -
Good luck Shalee!!!!!

Okay. I am the slow loser of the Nymphs. I'm happy for every pound, but I want to figure out how to lose more. I suspect that I am eating too much, so I want to get an idea of how much the rest of you are eating. The Allergan Lap Band site says "Eat only three small meals a day and make sure that these meals contain adequate nutrients. Your stomach can only hold about1/4 cup of food or 2 oz. at a time. Stop eating when your hunger is gone or when you feel comfortable." They also say you can have a couple of cups of low fat milk. That STUNNED me. I can (and DO) eat WAY more than that. For lunch today, I had about 3 oz of ground lamb and 3 ounces of baked Beans. Apparently, that is 3 times more than I am supposed to eat!!!! In fact, according to Allergan, that lunch was what I was supposed to eat for the whole day. WTF? It was only about 300 calories and about 23 gms of protien???? That CAN'T be a whole day of food. What are the rest of you doing? I know BandPal is eating with the damn spoon handle  . I'm thinking I should be eating somewhere around 1000 calories and 60 to 70 grams of protien. Am I totally wrong here? What are you guys doing?

Oh, I'm so very sorry. Be grateful for the 10 years of love and good times, and make the most of the time you have left with her. hugs.
-
Shalee, I'm thinking of you and your upcoming surgery!!! How exciting. Please take lots of measurements. I think you and I have the same apple shape and I want to get some data on the changes the surgery makes to the apple. My abdomen is bigger than my hips and I sure would like to see that change. Go November Nymphs!

Thanks Shortgal. I probably do need a little fill. I was pretty tight for about 2 weeks after the last one and lost about 8 pounds. Then, in the nine weeks since that loss, I have just bounced two pounds up and down. Very frustrating. I guess I have not found the sweet spot. It's probably annoying for someone like you who has lost your band to see someone who is not using their band to the optimum. Having a working band is a gift, and I shouldn't take it for granted. Thanks for the input. You are doing great!

I could be totally wrong, but I THINK I remember that BooBooKitty's PS doc was from that area. You might want to look up her PS thread and see if that's right. She had some issues with him, but they may have been resolved. Good luck.

Hey gals, since you are on pre-surgery shopping sprees, I have a suggestion. I have not had PS, but my favorite post band surgery device was the Sunbeam Vibrating Heating Pad. OMG. It was fabulous. I got it at WalMart, but you can also buy online and probably in many other stores. I don't know why warm+vibrating is so much better than either alone - but it is. Just a suggestion in case you need some pampering. Good luck to you all!!!! -
In a Bit of a Panic - Not sure what to think
Foofy replied to jjsmiles's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
JJsmiles, you are a great inspiration to us all. You have definately had your trials and tribulations to contend with and you made it through with such a great outlook. What a difference in your body! You must feel fabulous. Gosh, just tying your shoe must be so much easier. Clothes shopping is going to be great fun. I think you are definately on the road to a bright future. Thanks for sharing with us!!!! -
Thanks for the input all. I think half a cup to a cup is much more reasonable than the Lap Band recommendation of 2 ounces 3 times a day. Although I CAN eat more than that, I am going to focus for the next few weeks on serving up the smaller amount, eating that (with the promise to myself that I can have more if I feel like it). I think that might make a difference. The tuna can is a great visual image! I am a plate cleaner, so I have to work with that knowledge and make the portions small to begin with. There is NO way I can leave something on the plate. I think I still have that subconscious thought that food might disappear from the earth tomorrow, and I'd darn well better eat it NOW. Heck, even if food DID disappear, I've got at least a 90 day supply of pure energy wrapped around my middle. This new plan is going to be hard on DH. He is the chef at our house and serves LARGE portions. I am constantly saying - "a third of this would be fine". But, I cannot blame him. I am the only one in charge of what goes in my mouth. New plan starts NOW! Sades, hop on board. If it doesn't do the trick, I'll get another fill and get my thyroid checked.

Oh Cindy, I am so sorry for all you are going through. At least most of it is fixable. How lucky we are to have access to medical care. Don't forget to take care of yourself while you are helping everyone else. My DH and I lost our beloved Border Collie (Dave) a few months ago at age 14. It still hurts, but I am so grateful for the time and memories we had. I will say that (in hindsight) my only regret was that we didn't put him down sooner. His last few months were very tough. Sometimes the kindest thing is letting go. I wish you the best with your little cocker.

Hey Shalee. Congratulations on being the first November Nymph to make it to Flatlands. You and I were banded on the same day. I hope to be making the journey you are making sometime in the next year. Make sure to give us lots of pictures!! I had to laugh when you said you were getting a gardener to take over the lawn chores while you recovered. Here in Montana, we have snow and 36 degrees for the high today. I am also the family gardener, but I think my duties are done until next year! Best of luck!!!!!!
