    Help! I am so hungry.....

Foofy- You are the best! The wealth of knowledge is amazing. Thanks for the link...my problem is the upper thighs. I have found the extra skin is gross that is why I need a skirt. I wish I didn't have the extra skin because I would love to wear a bathing suit that doesn't have a skirt. Dang it! I love that I have lost almost 100lbs but I am not happy with the extra skin issues. I am a chicken about Plastic Surgery but I got to admit I wouldn't trade the 100lbs for firmer skin. LOL Cindy LOL. Smooches to you too Cindy. I am glad my obsession with shopping is paying off for someone else. I will have to tell my husband! I always love your posts. That's probably why I'm one of the biggest laggers on here. I know I'm not at my sweet spot because if I was then I wouldn't be able to eat what I do. Don't be hard on yourselves, this is new to all of us and we are doing it the best we can. I know I need to follow the rules a bit better but I've said all along I don't want to stop living either. If I take another 6-12 months to get my weight off then so be it... I've certainly been overweight a lot longer than that. Good luck to you all. Sades Good advice Sades. Does that make us the "Happy Laggers" instead of the "Thundering Tortoises"? I, too, am pretty happy with my loss, even though it is slower than most. I have NEVER lost this MUCH weight THIS fast. 70 pounds in a year would make me goofy with joy!
  2. Misty, Great website. Thanks for sharing. You look fabulous. How much did you lose in your weight loss jounry?

    Help! I am so hungry.....

Cindy, You are lucky to have a lifestyle that causes you to be active. I sit in front of a computer or in meetings for 8 hours a day. It used to be that I wouldn't stand up for four hours! Now, I try to get up every 30 minutes and walk around the building. Drinking more Water helps because I have to get up to pee. ;o) I'm just starting "formal" exercising again. I did the Portland Marathon in 2005 at 250 pounds and it just made me want to curl up on the coach and hibernate. I was sooooo sick of walking after that. I have to get over it. I have a suggestion for the swimsuit. QVC has a really cute line of swimsuits called "It Figures", including little swimdresses that I haven't seen anywhere else. I don't think you'd have the problem of the girls escaping. They'll ship to your house and then you can try them on and send back the ones you don't want. They are very good about returns. I have been very happy with them. I can't get the link to paste in correctly here (it gives me patio umbrellas LOL). Just go to QVC.com and search for "swimsuit".

    Help! I am so hungry.....

Not to worry, Cindy. It's all about the long-term. I think "normal" "thin" people have big eating days and small eating days. Don't fight it, just get back on track the next day. I remember when I was on Weightwatchers (one of the many, many times), there was a plan on the internet that followed WW but tweaked the point values so that you had high days and low days, but the weekly average was the same. It was called "The Wendy Plan". The theory was that alternating high and low days keeps your metabolism from setting to a lower point. Several diet/lifestyle plans do a variation of that (several have one day "off" - BodyForLife and Biggest Loser). I may start doing that. I keep my calorie intake pretty steady (about 1200 -1300 every day). Maybe I need to have a PigglyWiggly day and a few Meager days? It might goose my metabolism a bit (of course getting off my butt would do that, too).

    Graphic Shrimp Hurling Story

Hey band buddies, thanks for all the input. I've done alot of Googling about it since the "incident" and indeed most sites agree that "regular" vomiting is bad for the band (and is a sign that you are eating too fast or are too tight or something else). Also, vomiting soon after surgery is BAD. It's been 6 months since surgery and it was an isolated incident, so I am not worried about my experience, but I won't be making it a habit. ;o) For the interest of science, I will report that it wasn't the kind of violent hurling that you get with stomach flu or food poisening. There was none of that exhaustion or feeling of being wrung out. It didn't even seem to really involve my stomach (although it probably did). There was just a quick, fairly gentle "whoosh" out of my throat and the clog was gone. Then, relief. Believe me, I am normally someone who HATES to throw up. It happens to me maybe once or twice a decade and I am usually sick as a dog. I will definately ask my doc about it, but it may be months before I go back. Thanks for your support! Here's to a clog-free week!
  7. Posted for the benfit of science. Wow. Last night I ate some grilled shrimp wrapped with proscuitto. I was chewing very slowly, as usual. I felt a tightness in my chest, but kept going, because shrimp are pretty easy to pulverize with chewing. That was a bad mistake. Next thing I knew, I was slurping slime over the sink. This had gone on for about 10 minutes, with no relief, when I remembered TxArcher's tale of hurling. The pain wasn't going away, so I stuck my finger down my throat and hoped for the best. I thought I emptied everything out, and it was all VERY well-chewed, so the plug surprised me. Then, about 5 minutes later, the burping and pain started again. I repeated the "process", and again got a lot of saliva and little tiny ground up pieces (I am not going into the detail of how I examined the expulsion, but you can guess). Once again, relief was short lived. About 10 minutes later, I tried a third and final time. SUCCESS!!! RELIEF!!! BLISS!!!!! The culprit seemed to have been the initial bite of shrimp. There was a piece that was about an inch long, but veeeeery skinny. All I can figure is that it laid across the pouch opening and everything else piled up in a slurry on top. Once that devilish piece was out, I was my old self again. The hurling was actually not bad. There was no bile, and I hadn't eaten a lot of food and it was all very well chewed. All in all, it was a very acceptable means of declogging. I think I will not hesitate to do it again, if the need arises. I had been scared to do so, until I read TxArcher's post (last week?) about the success of his accidental hurl. Sorry if this is too much information, but I thought it was good to know.

Holy smokes. I never heard that about barfing being forbidden. I'll have to ask my surgeon. Shoot. It was such a great way to clear the clog. Drat. Rats. Phooey.

    Graphic Shrimp Hurling Story

No problems at all afterward. I think it was because I got it "out" of there, rather than burping it up and down for 30 minutes, as is my usual routine. I think a judicious hurl is an effetive tool in clog management. Hope you are feeling better soon.
  11. You absolutely look bloated - as well you should after surgery. But the flap - she is gone! You are going to look terriffic when the swelling goes down. Did you notice any effect on your thighs from the TT? You don't look 47, that's for sure!

  14. Phooey. I lost 4.5 pounds overall. Oh well, it's better than a gain. Now that the warm weather is here, I am hoping all the extra activity from gardening and doing other stuff outside will make a difference. Congrats to you all.

    Come Fly with Me...

I flew to Denver and back last week. Four planes in all. Seat belt was great in three and I noticed the seat seemed much more roomy now that I was down 37 pounds. However, one of the flights (on a bigger plane) had a seatbelt that I almost couldn't get fastened. I think it might have been broken and repaired, because it seemed short. Thank goodness I finally got it. I was ready to fly without it rather than ask for an extension. Death over dishonor. I didn't notice any changes in my band tightness because of flying.
  16. Interesting about the hurling. I have gotten stuck and slimey several times now. I always wonder if hurling would make it go faster/better. I have never had the nerve to try. I always thought it might make it worse. Also, I have some weird fear that it would come up and not all the way out and might get stuck in my windpipe....
  17. Hey 220 was my wedding weight, too (in 1990). It's a big milestone in my mind also. I bet you beat me to it, you speedy loser you! Congrats.
  18. Good luck Steph! I'm a lurker to your post. Just wanted to wish you the best.

Linda, Cindyg1212 may have saved your bacon! Now Sades, MollyBrown, and I have our sights set on catching her! Nothing personal Cindy, but you may soon feel the hot breath of the thundering herd of November tortoises (slow losers) behind you. Then, we can all catch Linda ;o)
  21. Foofy

    I suck....:(

Come on MollyBrown, You know the story of the tortoise and the hare.... You, Sades, Kuchie, and I are the November tortoises, but we are going to do fine. I'm down 37 pounds at six months. Although faster might be nicer, I am very happy with the fact that I weigh less now than I have in seven years. It was soooooo great to bring out my spring/summer clothes this year and find out that everything either fit or was too loose. In previous years, the seasonal change out has been very depressing, as everything was always too tight. I have a huge pile of stuff to give to Goodwill because it is too big. That's a big NSV for me. I had hoped to lose 70 pounds this year and 35 pounds in the second year. I'm on track for that (and so are you). Don't let it get you down. It will all click if you just hang in there. We are a thundering herd of tortoises! Invincible!

Karey, I've been thinking about this since you posted. First, you are lucky (and so am I) to have a man who has loved you for who you are for such a long time. That's a great blessing. You obviously know and appreciate that. It's really hard to change how people react to each other after such a long time - over any type of issue. Familiarilty and habit set in and are almost impossible to break. Have you ever thought that maybe at some level he worries that you are going to improve yourself so much that you will want to leave? That can be scary for a spouse. I think my husband has those fears. I am not nearly as far in my journey as you are, but I can see that I am going to have to be very sensitive about that at some point in the future. I too worry about what happens when you start doing PS - one thing just leads to another. It's like the house. You redo the wood floors and the walls look dingy. Then you paint the walls and the ceiling looks dingy. It never ends. I have no answers. Enjoy that flat belly and those perky boobs gal, because you earned them. Post some update pics!
