    Lap Band Surgery

I was banded on the same date as you and I am down 37 pounds since surgery - 60 total since my pre-opt diet. I have had one fill although I believe I will be getting a second fill on Monday since I am noticing that I can eat more than I could a month ago. I have found the less moist a food is, the less I can eat so I try to eat dryer foods (meats) and avoiding sauces and dressings. My doctor wants me to eat a maximum of three meals and if I need to snack he says to have pickles. If I don't make the conscious effort I can eat more than I should and things I shouldn't too. But it is a tool not our save all. If you don't feel like your doctor is taking the time to answer questions or concerns that will help you be successful than I would look for a doctor or support group that does. A doctor should not make you feel rushed and should be trying to help you succeed. My doctor had the surgery so I think that is why he makes sure that all my questions are answered. Keep up the great work, 33 pounds is good for 3 months. Try not to compare your success to how fast others might be losing weight. Your body is not the same as everyone else's, so just look at where you started out at and where you are today.
  2. A doctor gave me magnesium citrate last night, I was always regular till my lap band surgery a month ago. This is a quick fix but need to find a more permanent solution. Thanks for sharing.

    Blockage

Thank you, I actually went to the ER today and they gave me some pain reliever while I was there, then the doctor came in for two minutes and told me I should go back to my surgeon that did my lapband. He did not even want to examine me. He gave me a laxative and sent me home. I know I'm not crazy and feel like that was a waste of time and money.
  4. I am a month out and lost 19lb since surgery. I stalled at the two week mark for about 10 days but scale is moving again

    Blockage

I am four weeks post op today. I had a great surgery and recovery. I was back at the work and the gym in a few days and doing great. I was even off pain meds the day after surgery. It is the last day of my full liquids diet, and it have been having what feels like butt contractions since Monday. I went to the doctor, thinking it is hemorrhoids related. The doctor gave me some steroid but no relief and The pain is excruciating. I have been taking a gentle laxative and I am going a little, but I feel like I have to go every five minutes. It feels like there is blockage or something. Has anyone had anything similar. My doctor just sent me for X-rays of my abdomen. Feeling crappy...

9 days post op. Still have tremendous shoulder pain.

I am 9 days post op too and I am having the same issue too. It does make it difficult to drink anything without feeling bloated and uncomfortable. Your doing great though and this is just a small part of the journey. Gas x hasn't been much help, although movement does. I understand that is difficult for you because of your sciatic pain. I find my best relief comes from showering with hot Water and aiming the nozzle directly at the gas pain area. (Usually my shoulder). I don't have a heating pad but that helps.

    8/29/14 is the Day

I hope everyone's recovery is going well. I was banded last Friday and went back to work Tuesday. I did great over the weekend, walked, drank my clear liquids fine. When I went back to work, I found myself tired and sluggish all week. I started feeling very bloated Wednesday morning and it lasted until last night. Since the bloating started I have had a hard time with taking in enough clear liquids, I have been taking tiny sips of water, broth, and ensures, but it seems that ice pops have been what I can consume the easiest. I went back to the gym before work on Thursday and that helped a little in the morning. I feel more relief today and I am going to try to drink an ensure clear and go swimming or something. I think moving is the key and my office job does not help me in that area. So glad it's the weekend.

STARTING OVER FOR THE LAST TIME

I'm in the same boat as you and seem to be having issues with this clear liquid diet. I did find ensure clear but I bloat as soon as I have one. My calories have been very low because of it, yesterday I had a whopping 150 calories.

    Clear liquids high in protein?

Thank you! I will look into both of those.
  10. Had my surgery on Friday and I am on two weeks of clear liquids. Does anyone have any suggestions to increase my protein. I found a peach ensure clear with 9 grams of protein, I have been having one a day but that's all I am getting as far as protein. Any other thoughts.
  11. My doctor suggested that if I need a snack in between meals (when I get to the eating stage- I'm on clear liquids) he said to have pickles.

    Lap band surgery yesterday

Thank you, Praying for great surgeries and recoveries for those of you that have them coming up. I will say I am getting great rest, I usually don't remember my dreams but I have the last couple of days... The only downside is I'm eating foods in them but they are high protein meals. I'm not hungry and I find it hard to finish what's on my clear liquid diet. My friend told me her band feels tighter in the morning or when she is stressed. She said she usually can't eat in the morning but can as the day progresses and it feels a little looser. She is five years in and at her goal. Is that what most people experience?

    8/29/14 is the Day

Thank you for the input, my surgery went great, I started walking right away so the gas has improved so much. I am off all pain meds although I will probably have Tylenol before bed tonight. It was much better than I worked up in mind what it would be.
  14. I had my surgery yesterday afternoon and thank God my recovery is going well. I took the advice that I saw posted here and started walking as soon as I could yesterday afternoon. I made myself walk every hour till bed and got up at seven and started again. I am a little sore, still gassy, but I am off all pain relief right now even Tylenol. I am so excited for the journey... I did get on the scale and was five pounds up from yesterday, but that's all the liquids they pumped me with. My liquids are going down comfortably. I can feel the Lap-band inside me which is a weird feeling, but I am sure I will adapt. The only time I feel pain from the incisions is when I go from sitting to standing or vice versa all the other times it's just a livable soreness. I am So glad to be on this journey!
  15. Congrats- I am scheduled for Friday and have been wondering the same thing. Praying it went well for you and that your recovery is quick and painless
