    eastern washington banders

I wish I could say the same!!!! Was supposed to get my fill today and was rescheduled due to Dr. getting stuck in surgery. I tell you I get sooooo tired of this crap all of the time, I bet 80% of my appointments have been rescheduled by his office. I would have waited until he was done, but they didn't have any idea when he would be finished, and then being a friday, he may not even have come back to the office as my appt. was supposed to be at 3:00. Deb, I came by your office but you were out. See you on Tuesday. Ari

Hey Lisa, Good luck with your fill on the 3rd, I am having mine on the 4th. Drop me a line and let me know how you did, and how much he gave you. I hope it gives me restriction cause I am able to eat entirely too much. Happy New year, Ari

Kaelin's G-ma, It's great to hear from another bandster. I also live in the valley. Our next meeting is on Tuesday January 8th. If you would like to carpool with us you are welcome to join us. How are you doing since your banding? And where do you go for your fills? Just curious. Ari

    Taking a Bath?

I would be extremely carefull about baths. I was told with my post-op instructions no baths for 1 month. This is because of the risk of infection. If you do decide to risk it before, please make sure your tub is extremely clean and disinfected. I heal very quickly and waited until 3 weeks post before soaking in a tub. Good luck

    stomach sleepers

I was banded on Nov. 13th and was able to sleep on my stomach about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks post op. Then I pulled or agrivated my port side and couldn't sleep on my side or stomach for about 2 days, but now I feel like nothing has been done and can move into any position with no problems. Hope this helps, Ari

    Pills... Can I/you or can't I/you?

I was banded on Nov. 13th and have not had any problems taking my pills. I blended them in my Protein shakes for the first 2 weeks, but have been swallowing them whole ever since. I have not had any fill so I am essentially open at this point. This however may change once I have my fill on January 4th. Hope this helps, Ari

    Sleep Apena

You need to get this taken care of ASAP!!! sleep apnea is very dangerous because you stop breathing. If this happens during surgery it can be fatal. More than likely, your lapband surgeon will not do surgery until you have it taken care of. It is a treatable condition, but the surgeon must be aware of it before surgery. Good luck!!! :notagree

Motomom, It's great to hear from a fellow November, Dr. Trotter Bandster. I would love to make the support groups, but I have a mandatory meeting on the 2nd tuesday of every month for my daughters school, however there is no meeting in Dec. so I am hoping to make it to that one. How are you doing up until now? We are only about 4 days apart. Ari

    Hi!

Are they hopeing that the slippage will correct itself by removing the fluid? I was under the impression that if your band slips it needs to be fixed surgically, and if it does, do you have to go through the whole liquid diet/mushies/soft food progression again like with initial post-op?

    How long is the process????

I went to the seminar in July, had my initial appt. with Dr. on August 14th and had all of my checklist completed prior to the appt.(psych eval, blood work, chest x-ray, etc.) All information submitted to insurance company and waited till end of sept. for approval. Then had to wait for appt. with Dr. and kept getting rescheduled due to his surgical schedule. Surgery date was November 13th. Everybody is different, I could have been done much sooner, but I have a very busy surgeon. Ari
  14. $5,000? holy crap, how much is your Dr. charging you. My surgeon charges $17,000 which makes a 20% copay $3,200 which is still alot, but not $5,000. :faint:
  15. Thank you I have been trying to figure this out for weeks.
  16. Yes this is orthostatic hypertension, the same thing happened to me on about day 4 after surgery. I was on 3 BP meds and had to drop down to only 1. My BP dropped to 80/55. I was surprised that it would drop that fast after surgery, but I have lost 20lbs. and all of the Water loss can affect your BP. Since going to only 1 pill my BP is now at 120/70 which is just about perfect. It took another 4 days to regulate but now I am doing fine. 3 weeks post-op. Good luck, Ari

Hi deb, I am doing great, I have no pain at this point and the pain following surgery was not much at all. I had pain for about a week, but it was nothing I couldn't handle, much easier than when I had my gall bladder removed. I see Dr. Trotter on Tuesday and I hope he upgrades me to mushies, I am getting really sick of liquids. Ari

Hi Deb, I was banded Nov. 13th by Dr. Trotter as well. Ari

    I must be stupid

lessnless, be very carefull with the gum! When I got my post op instructions from the nutritionist they said absolutely no gum, the reason being that if you accidentally swallow it, it may have to be surgically removed from the band opening. For me it is not worth the chance of having to have more surgery. I am now using mints.

    Newbie from Coeur D'Alene

Summer, May I ask why you are going all the way to Seattle to be banded? I was banded last week in Spokane and there are also Dr's in Post Falls. I would love to talk to you and have a buddy somewhat close by. You may call me if you want. email me and I will give you my # chefari@msn.com.
  22. I guess every Dr. is different. I am reading my discharge papers and it says you can take over the counter liquid or chewable Tylenol or Ibuprofen for mild to moderate pain, but to be careful to not over use ibuprofen due to the potential to cause ulcers. I don't seem to need anything now that I am 3 days out. Thanks for the concern. Good luck to all.
  23. I was banded on Tuesday. The gas will pass, keep taking the gas-x and your pain meds. I am off of the heavy pain meds and just taking ibuprofen and have no pain, just slight discomfort when coughing. It will get better.
