September 4, 2014 Hi Everyone: Well, this is my first post since joining the group. I took the 6-months of classes and passed all the tests and today I received my call saying my surgery will take place on September 30, 2014. I will never forget this date. It is already burned in my memory. Nor will I forget what I was doing at the time I received the call - in line at the market. I looked down into my shopping cart (the riding kind) and felt okay because I had 3 healthy choice meals. I said to myself, well my next trip to the market will be a lot different than today. I am trying to see myself in my mind's eye after the surgery. I can't see it. I guess this is normal. I haven't known what was normal for quite some time. I am so looking forward to the journey. I don't have a lot of family support, but I know you all out there are going through this with me. Thanks for going on this journey with me. I need you all. 26 Days to Countdown. Current Weight 278 (down from 317) Goal Weight 175

Emergency Room Cheat Sheet for Bariatric Patients
MARILYNMONROE525 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi Alex: I am reviewing your ER Cheat Sheet. Just one question, are these instructions for lap band patients only. I am having the sleeve on Sept. 30th. -
Well, I have had my sample package of various multi and Calcium and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury for some time. I have slowly tried them. So far I like the calcium chews in raspberry caramel and lemon. The chocolate not so much. It tastes like a bad tootsie roll. I like the chewable calcium. In class we sampled cinnamon and I loved it. It tastes like red hots if you like them. I also liked the berry flavored. I did not like the orange. No way. I have not tried the crystals nor the losengers. Lastly, today, I have tried the Unjury vanilla. I am so amazed at how much it tastes like a shake. I mean a real vanilla shake. Others in my class have complained of how thick the Protein Meal Replacements are and how awful they taste. Well for me I have at least found one I really like. I think I would also like the chocolate if the flavors are true to their names. I finally used my ninja blender my kids got me last Christmas. After making the shake, I realize I can do this quite easily with very little effort. At first in the back of my mind I was thinking about the pain I would be in the day after returning home from surgery and could I really get myself up and prepare the different fluids that I will be needing for myself. The answer is yes. I now can stop focusing so much on the pain. I have said all my life how low my pain tolerance is but this time Im all in no matter what. Plus I just love my ninja! Just a cheery note this morning to share. 20 days to my surgery. yeah!

Protein Meal Replacements
MARILYNMONROE525 replied to MARILYNMONROE525's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thanks for the heads up. i have heard about changes in taste buds, etc. I will keep sampling on a small scale before purchasing a lot. Thanks again. -
I recently discontinued prednisone after 5 years of use. Until I switched to my new pulmonologist, I was unable to tapper down any lower than 20 mg. However, since being with him I have gone all the way down to 3 mg. The first time ever. He is the one who suggested the bariatric surgery for me as a tool to improve my breathing being that my lungs will not be pushed up into my rib cage by the fat middle I have accumulated as a result of extended prednisone use. I am wondering if there is anyone else out there that can relate to my story about respiratory problems, prednisone use and having asthma or copd and contemplating this surgery. My surgery is scheduled for 9/30/14. Also, I am scheduled for an EGD. Does everyone have to have this done? Please share. I need to hear from you guys. Thanks.

September Sleevers!
MARILYNMONROE525 replied to SleevedSharon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think this is a great idea. Maybe we can keep in touch throughout the journey. My surgery is scheduled for September 30th also. I look forward to the next morning when its over. I felt both numb and anxious when I got my date. I went on a bing which I am now trying to recover from. It was my nerves. I got back on the wagon and now I am making my lists in preparation for my new birth - lol. I know its going to be hard......I have heard about the mental hunger that comes. Oh la la. I need help yall. I don't have anyone. Glad I found you all. Love, Peace and Prayers to each of you. -
Prednisone Use
MARILYNMONROE525 replied to MARILYNMONROE525's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone for your replies. I feel more sure now. I wanted to know bc my family is not supportive of the surgery and they are saying things like you are still going to have bad lungs, etc. They just don't understand that its more than that. If they had to carry around all this extra, that is not being able to walk with your hands to your sides, sleeping with a machine, taking over 20 meds daily and having a thousand doc appts every month, then maybe they would understand better. They keep waiting for me to change my mind. I have you all now. Its all the way or bust. lol -
Nerves. 21 days until surgery.

Perfectly normal... Anyone who researches and takes the surgery seriously is nervous. But try to focus on all the great things that will happen after, like losing weight, buying cute clothes, feeling healthier, doing those things you can't now... Lots of people have gone through the same process and you can, too.
