Hello Everyone:
I am a newby to the group and need all the support I can get. My family is weary about the surgery. I plan to have the sleeve and met with my surgeon (Dr. Christopher You) today for my presurgical visit. My daughter went with me and my son was on speaker phone. So after all, I believe they are a little more at ease. As for me, I feel like I'm in a dream. I took classes for the last six months and have lost 39 lbs. since starting the suggested meal plan back in March 2014. Now that its here I don't really know how I feel. I am trying to see my other self after surgery. Will I be okay is really on my mind. The reason I say this is because of my current health issues. By the way, if anyone has experienced this please let me know. I have COPD and was on steroids for over 5 years pretty much continuously. I went from 165 to 317. Every time I was weaning off the medicine I would have another flare up and go through the cycle repeatedly. Well here we are today.
I have a new pulmonologist and the first visit he recommended bariatric surgery. I was immediately happier. I had given up any hope of ever losing any weight. I am here today with a much brighter outlook and now I am at the crossroads. I need to hear from some of you. :)
