So depressed about my hair
going2servive replied to Candigrl1's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I hope this reaches all the hair loss patients. I’m 8 years post operative and lost 70% of all body hair. It was extremely difficult to have so much gone on my head. I started taking Blood Builder by Mega Food. Problem solved! -
I am 8 years post op. I left the hospital with no pain medication at all! I had no pain from the surgery at all. As soon as they allow you to get up and move, MOVE; walk in that hospital! The more you move the better. If you just do nothing the air/gas trapped inside of you will feel like death. It’s truly about you getting up and moving and continuing to move.

I had this problem so I ate topless. My family thought I was crazy but it made me feel good. [emoji23]

6 months out and completely lost
going2servive replied to sgaddarich's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It's natural to have stalls and for weeks at a time. You should still be tracking food and calories. Look at that and see the change there. I'm 2 1/2 years out and only get an average of 1100 calories per day and 80 grams of protein. My weight goes up and down from day to day because the amount of water I drink. Yes u will get there just stay strong. As for dumping, the bad food make this happen so you might want to rethink what you are eating. -
I did the 14 liquid protein shake diet. Around day 5 I started to become really slow and a bit crazy. But I stuck to it, no cheating at all. My surgery was on 11/11/14. I was 300lbs then, at 11 months out I had lost 147lbs. Follow the change and it will gift you in return with weight loss and a longer life. I still track all my food, water, and vitamins. I get an average of 1100 calories a day still because I eat right.

My first month out was slow. The doc said it happens because lack of energy and healing after surgery. Now I'm seven months out, lost 110 lbs and I just hit another stall. Stay focused and do not give up. Your only enemy is you. I've also seen a lot of people taking in like 1000 calories when I'm still only getting 700. Track all your foods, fluids, exercise. That will help you see your trends.

I'm doubting if I want the surgery...
going2servive replied to Big Opie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I've read many stories how sleeves are having to go back and do bypass. I now know two people personally that have now had to go from sleeve to bypass due to acid reflux. Look at the amount of research there is backing one over the other. One has a handful of years while the other had many handfuls. Why do one if your going to have to go back for the other. -

going2servive replied to vkelley's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Prepare your mind now because that is the only thing that will hold you back. Don't forget chap stick for the hospital stay. All the pain meds dry out your lips really bad. -
I'm just over 6 months out as well. I've had gurgling since about 6 weeks out. Doc has found nothing wrong and I don't feel anything less than wonderful everyday. I just drink water and it stops. But no bloating here.

Example meal after gastric surgery?
going2servive replied to Karlnjax's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took my mushy foods and stopped mashing them. Because I knew that my pouch could handle those foods. Example: refried beans, just started having them in 7 bean soup no mushing. Eggs, scrambled or boiled. At Walmart in freezer section, turkey breakfast sausage patties, pretty good. String cheese with deli sliced lunch meat, I buy boars head brand. Fish is really good to, I like mustard on my fish, makes it a little more juicy and no extra calories to worry about. -
Did people treat you differently after weight loss?
going2servive replied to B_Darkly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People that know me very well are different with me. They say I'm happy now and always looked mad before. I didn't feel mad before but I sure in the hell feel really happy now. -
Anyone had problems with blood clots?
going2servive replied to WAEE01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had two c-sections and had the bypass on 11/11/14. I've had no issues at all. I also made a point to do as I was told when I came home after surgery. They are going to tell you to walk, make a point to walk. Even if it's for 10 minutes every hour your awake. You will do great ????. -

Depressed..lost nothing this month
going2servive replied to little_mrs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 months out and my stall was a month long. From my forth to fifth month I didn't lose anything. It's normal. But I will say I'm only getting in about 750 calories a day and I burn about 1000 calories a day in exercises. I had to up my exercise amount to get to loosing again. I use fitness pal to track everything. Change your exercises from one day to the next, see if that helps. For example, today I cycled twice, tomorrow I will use my elliptical and weights. -

Gastric Bypass Veterans - Get real with me!
going2servive replied to ilikecake2much's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With dumping I hear a lot of "it happens with sugar". Well fake sugar has caused me dumping, but cane sugar and fruit has never bothered me. I eat pretty natural but have tried nearly everything. Anything with grease, butter or oil does not sit well with me. Even if it's a single bite. Eat slow with small bites and I'm in control. Word to the wise, change the way you think before surgery. I've seen so many people fail around me because they don't change the way they think before hand. This isn't a temporary change, it's a forever change in the way you eat and perceived food. Eat to live, not live to eat. -
My doc wants me to add a 5th small high protein meal in each day. He says I've loosing to fast. I though I was doing great. Ive lost 100 pounds in 3 1/2 months, but I hear about the dreaded stalls around the 4-6 month mark. I'm not trying to be arrogant with this topic, but is anyone else having the to much to fast issue? If so, what are you eating and how often?
