Thats great, good luck!

I am not sure what to tell you, but I would appeal it. Remind them that they approved it before your surgery.

Keeping it a secret?

In my everday life, only my husband, mom, brother and sister-in-law know... my online friends know and so does anyone that reads my blog, but thats it. -
So my SIL has called a few insurance companies because while her insurance doesn’t cover the lap-band, she is considering taking on additional insurance that will, but in all her calling a few different places told her that if you have the lapband done with an insurance company you have to stay with that company the rest of your life because no other insurance company will cover you… Does anyone know if this is true or not? We get our insurance thru my husbands employer if they switch us over will we be left without insurance or is what my SIL was told completely untrue?

Well that is good to know, because unless he gets fired I don't see my husband quiting his job. Maybe I will ask theinsurance company about it and see what they say.

I'm sorry she said that to you. People need to really think before the speak. I had a woman at church a few weeks ago, who's known me my whole life come up and pat my stomach and ask how my diets going, then proceeded to lecture me about how bad my weight is for my health. Yeah... I walked out of there in tears. But like jelbel said think postivie now you know you really want this.

Congratualtions on starting your journey. -
Hi all, My name is Katie. I'm a 25 year old mom, I have two little boys. Well I guess I am here because I've been overweight forever, but I've finally gotten to a weight where I can't stand it. Right now I am at 283 lbs. It's gotten so hard to play with my boys, and my 3 year old is one active little guy. Right now I am SOO excited to get started, but I have to wait for my husbands employer to switch our insurance. Which is really good sincethe new insurance company will cover the surgery. I am jsut not sure how long I will have to wait until I can start the process. I truly hope it's not too long because I would lovethe start out the new year with a new begining and a chance to be a healthier and more active me.

Ellisa - Thanks, I guess I have to wait until we get all the stuff, it doens't officially switch until Nov 1st. I hope that they don't have the exclusion. Because I so cannot afford this surgery on my own and REALLY want it. -
I am fat because... Most of my family is overweight, because I'vehad two babies in 2 years, and in between those babies I was on thebirth control shot that shot my weight up by 60 lbs. And since then nothing has worked to get the weight off. I have stopped eating out, only make baked chicken and baked pork chops with a healthy side dish, and I only give myself the portion I give my 3 year old. I excercise for 30 -60 minutes a day... stairs are a great thing to run up and down. We take a 2 mile walk every night. And in the span of 4 months since we've moved I have lost 5 lbs. And I am tired, I need extra help...

I wish I could help, but I'm kinda on the same situation, I was all set to start the process with United Healthcare and then my husbands employer decided to up and switch us to Anthem. But I think our switch is a blessing, because UHC wasn't going to cover the surgery, and it looks as if Anthem will. I hope you don't have to start all over...
