Can anyone recommend a good tasting, affordable Protein powder? I've tried several and they all have a strong Vitamin taste and smell to them and make me very nauseated. I'm currently drinking the ready made Premier Protein shakes. I'm hoping to find something unflavored as well, so that I may add it to Soups and other foods. I know that Premier Protein has just come out with actual protein powders in chocolate and vanilla, but the nutrition info is actually higher than the pre-made shakes, though the protein content of 30g is still the same. Any suggestion??

Many thanks to each of you for your suggestions. I did order some samples from UNJURY and enjoyed the Chocolate Splendor flavor...so far. I am going to continue looking though so each and every suggestion is GREATLY appreciated. -
Protein Powders

I'm looking at the UNJURY website right now. A friend told me she saw it on Amazon but I cannot find it. My issue with other protein powders is the strong vitamin smell and taste. It really makes me feel ill. -
Protein Powders

I finished the required 12 week course in order to prepare for my RNY in Oct 2014, and Premier Protein was listed as one of the acceptable protein supplements. Maybe I should keep looking for an alternative. -
Knot in chest?
Debralynnmunoz replied to msmisaacs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be 4 weeks post-op tomorrow and find that I too, get the knotted feeling in between my breasts, when I drink plain Water. According to my surgeon, where my uncomfortable pain/ache is, is exactly where my new stomach pouch is. It feels almost like I've been staked. My kids joke and say that someone needs to be reminded that I am not a vampire and therefore there's no reason to stake me. lol But this usually only happens when I drink plain water and once in a great while it will happen when I have Diet Cran-grape juice. I've found it to be pretty unbearable first thing in the morning. I've been pretty good about taking tiny little sips yet the pain is still there. I really hope it goes away and soon because I'm NOT drinking enough liquids throughout the day. I'm only averaging between 20-30 ounces of liquid each day and that is including my Premier Protein shakes. -
Week 3 and in the Pureed stage with concerns
Debralynnmunoz posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm three weeks out and am in the first week of the pureed stage. I've literally been living on 1-2 Chocolate Premier Protein shakes each day and am still having trouble adding pureed foods. Especially those that contain good amounts of protein. I've tried softly scrambled eggs on 3 separate occasions with no luck. The first time I was able to eat about 1/3 of the egg with no problems. But the second time I ended up feeling full and bloated after only 4 teeny tiny bites. The third attempt left me in excruciating pain after just 2 little bites. It literally felt like the egg was stuck. I tried everything to 'dislodge' it but nothing seemed to work. I spent over 3 1/2 hours holding a bowl because I literally felt like I was going to be violently ill. I had the same exact issue last night when I tried shredded, canned chicken mixed with light mayo. I was only able to eat 2 tiny nibbles before the pain kicked in. I'm following the rules and am taking super tiny bites and chewing each bite a minimum of 30 times each yet still having trouble. I have managed to eat mashed potatoes with beef gravy and fat free refried beans with a tiny bit of reduced fat shredded cheddar on top. Anyone have any suggestions? Am I going to be stuck surviving on these icky protein shakes for the rest of my life? Others who had surgery just 3 days before me are already in the soft food stage and beyond. Can't help but wonder if there's something wrong with my pouch. Shouldn't it be stretching a bit by now so that I'm able to consume more than an ounce of pureed food at a time? -
I'm post-op 3 wks today and I was wondering how long the pain I'm having in my left side will last. I've asked my doctor but all he will tell me is that I'm a "special" case. He refers to me as a special case due to the fact that I'm a right leg, above-knee amputee. He says I'm the first amputee he's ever performed RNY on and therefore unable to give me a time frame for just how long the pain will last. A friend had the exact same surgery, just 3 days before me and the pain on her left side recently returned. Mine has been here since day one. It makes it very uncomfortable to bend and move. It feels like I have a knife stuck in my side. Anyone have any idea?

Pain in left side
Debralynnmunoz replied to Debralynnmunoz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for your replies. I have an appt with my primary this coming Monday and will be mentioning the pain to her as well because my normal everyday pain meds don't seem to give me any relief where the pain in my left side is concerned. Re: my being a 'special' case due to my being an amputee, HE said because my left side is my more dominant side, since my right leg is the one that was amputated, my muscles in my left side were messed with when the incisions were made. Still makes no sense to me, especially since I also had laproscopic surgery for my gallbladder removal AND I've also undergone 2 separate c-sections. Not sure exactly what a trocar site is, but if its an incision, then the pain is located between the two incisions that were made on the left side. No drains and no lung issues. Thanks again for the replies. Praying for some relief sometime soon because the pain really is unbearable.
